Chapter 16 : "Y'all are hiding something."

I'm gonna admit for the first and probably last time ever that Aaron is kind of fun to have around.

Today he isn't in school, and everyone is more quite. For some reason, he usually hypes up the whole table but not today.

It's been fifteen minutes into lunch and I didn't see him today in physics.

"So where is Aaron?" Rose finally asked.

"Not in school." Ethan replied.

"Oh my god, really? We didn't know!!" I said sarcastically.

Ethan rolled his eyes "He couldn't come today, I guess."

"Yeah, but why?" Rose pushed.

I don't know why but I can tell Rose is just as curious as me.

He could be sick, I know, but it's just, he never skips. And he didn't mention anything about skipping school, yesterday.

Ethan shrugged nervously and everyone looked awkward and nervous.

I narrowed my eyes, "Y'all are hiding something."

"Did you guys know that every year, approximately five-" Steve started changing the subject.

"Stop changing the subject." Rose said to Steve.

Steve sighed.

"Tell us!" I whined.

I know I'm annoying, leave me alone.

"Ellie, did you know that Taylor Swift dropped a new music video yesterday?" Laurel smiled at me.

"Oh my god, no!" I yelled.

"What song? Oh my god, is it good?" I squealed.

"She didn't Ellie," Rose said and then glared at Laurel, "this girl" she continued pointing at Laurel, "is trying to distract you, you would've known first."

It was my turn now to glare at Laurel.

Bitch knows how to get my attention.

Focus Ellie, life isn't about your fangirl emotions only..

Kind of is..

"Sorry." Laurel muttered.

"Look guys," Nathan said, clapping his hands to get our attention, "we're not sure Aaron wants anyone to know."

Rose snorted, "But you all know."

"Yeah, because we've been his friends for a really long time, but he's only met you guys a couple months ago.." Joey explained awkwardly.

"Well, is he okay?" I asked.

Where did that come from?

You're just being a good friend, Ellie.

"I guess he is." Nathan replied.

Rose and I glanced at each other before shrugging and devouring our food.

I was now home, actually considering calling Aaron and asking him what the hell is up.

We had planned on a studying session today. He texted me this morning, assuring me he'll be at my house by five p.m. , but he never showed up.

It was now ten p.m. and I need to sleep anyways.

After I had waited for one hour, I got bored eventually, and called my classmate, Nicole, to help me.

I literally had no other choice. And Nicole is super nice anyways.

You can't text him Ellie, are you crazy?

He'll legit think I'm crazy if I texted him worried, because he probably isn't dying right now.

I typed in 'Why didn't you show up asshole' but then deleted it. I mean I don't want him to know I'm actually worried about him but I don't wanna come off as an asshole either.

I tried again.

Me: Hi dipshit, I was just wondering are you okay? You never showed up today, I asked for help on the physics homework though so it's fine. You coming tomorrow?

I hit sent and waited.

That was such a long text, why did I send that?

Oh my god, I'm an idiot.

I shouldn't have sent all of that.

I shouldn't have sent anything.

A new text on my phone cut my over dramatic thoughts which turned out to be from Aaron.

The hottest motherfucka that I gotta blow : yeah I'm coming tomorrow. Lol Oreo, sorry, I'll give you the answers tomorrow before class, I just solved it. I'm okay, don't worry about it.

Me: lmaoo, it's just a thing now, you give me answers, I get A's but do I understand shit? No.

The hottest motherfucka that I gotta blow : Oh, it's okay, one day you'll give me chemistry answers too.

Me : naaah, I don't wanna be responsible for your stupidity

Me : not my problem, it's your choice to give me answers on tests and homeworks, not mine.

Me : fine. I already got answers, told you someone helped me.
