Part 3

I sincerely apologize for not updating this story in well over a month. I didn't lose interest in it I was recovering from appendicitis. Anyways I will try and stay consistent from now on.

After Paul and Ash had their battle everyone went their separate ways. The bus ride home all Serena could think about was that new boy and how mysterious he was. He didn't talk much but he sure was interesting whenever he did talk. Serena's best friend, Dawn noticed her zoning out looking out of the passenger window.

"Everything all right Serena?" Dawn questioned concernedly. Serena snapped out of her thoughts. She realized she had been staring out the window the entire ride home.

"I'm fine Dawn... I was just thinking," She responded. She was hoping that Dawn wouldn't catch on to the fact that she was in deep thought about a certain someone.

"Okay... but if something is troubling you Serena you know you can tell me anything," She smiled at her bestie. Serena smiled back and thought of something risky.

"Hey Dawn... you know Kenny, right?" She asked cautiously.

Dawn nodded.

"How come... you two never became a thing? You know, after he admitted that he had a crush on you. Dawn smiled, remembering the events of middle school not too long ago.

"Well I didn't like completely turn him down you know? But at the time, I was focused on my contests and nothing more. After that we rarely talked to each other and now he's usually hanging out with that idiot Gary," She explained.

"I get it," She nodded. "Though I bet he's still head over heels for you," Serena said giggling.

Dawn laughed lightly. "Ohh I bet he is! It's amazing how easily guys can fall in love."

The bus finally reached their stop which was Vaniville town. They both exit the bus, thanking the driver on their way out. They made it to Serena's house.

"Okay Serena, I'll text you if we make plans later this week," Dawn said.

"Mhmm," She nodded. "Sounds great!" Dawn walked off and Serena made her way to the front door. She opened it and was immediately greeted by her mother Grace.

"Welcome home Serena! Anything interesting happen today?" Her mother questioned. Upon hearing this an image of Ash the new appeared in her mind. She began to feel her face heat up for some reason.

"Uhm... there was a new boy today," She managed to get out. Her mother smirked at the mention of this new boy. He clearly caught her interest.

"Oh really? What was this new boy like?" Grace asked with the same smirk still on her face.

"Ehm, he was nice," She said, looking down now. She tried not to think about how badass he seemed on just the first day.

"I'm just teasing honey," Grace smiled. "You can tell me all about that later."

A few houses down from Vaniville.

As usual it was Gary, Trip, and Paul hanging around the area.

"You know Paul, even though it ended quickly, that was one heck of a battle you had there," Gary said leaning forward a bit on his bicycle.

"It was a good battle. He trained Pikachu well," Paul admitted. "It felt like the more we battled, the stronger I could have possibly gotten." Paul was never one to be nice but this came as a huge surprise to Trip and Gary.

"Wow Paul. Yeah Ash has always been like that. He's very talented but he also don't talk much nowadays. Wonder what happened to him anyway," Gary crossed his arms.

"I think he's a great trainer so far," Trip spoke. "Has he ever challenged the leagues Gary?"

"Yeah he's participated in several of them. He has five titles but he refuses to challenge the Champions. He once told me 'It is not my goal anymore'" Gary said.

"Five titles? No wonder he completely went by me today," Paul chuckled.

With Ash...

Ash just got home and threw his bag onto the couch not bothering to greet his mother. Growing up he never really had the best relationship with his mother Delia anyway. He only ever really loved his older brother Red...

He jumped on his bed and put his hands behind his head for a moment. He thought about what the honey blonde haired girl had said before he left.

'Santalune gym'

"Maybe I should go challenge it..." Ash mutters to himself.  Hearing this Pikachu immediately jumped onto the bed next to him looking determined as ever.

"Pika!"

Ash smiled softly at his partner. "Let's go buddy!" They both rush downstairs to leave but not before running into Delia.

"Ash!" The stern voice of Delia stops him dead in his tracks.

"Yeah mom?" He responds calmly.

"How was your first day at your new school? Did you make any new friends?" She asks sitting down on the couch.

Ash gives her a rather annoyed look. "Nah. That school was just full of losers. Oh, and of course Gary had to be there."

Delia frowns slightly at his response. "Gary? Isn't he your best friend?"

"I guess... but he's also an idiot. Anyways mom I'm going to go challenge a gym." He says in a hurry to leave.

"You better not come home late young man! There will be consequences!" She says making herself clear.

He rolls his eyes and leaves the house with Pikachu in tow. Santalune wasn't too far from Vaniville but Ash was not in the mood to walk. He pulls out a Pokeball and tosses it revealing his Charizard. Ash hops on Charizard.

"Alright buddy, we're gonna go to Santalune City. Can you fly us there?" Ash asks.

Charizard gives him an affirmative nod and begins flying to the direction of Santalune city. The speed of Charizard allowed them to arrive within five minutes. Landing right by the Pokémon center Ash returns Charizard into his pokeball.

"Thanks buddy! Return."

Ash along with Pikachu begins to search for the Gym for several minutes. Eventually he finds it and enters it. It was a fairly huge place with some portraits of several bug type Pokémon. Upon entering he sees a woman with a white tank top, blonde hair and green pants.

"Excuse me, miss? Are you the gym leader?" Ash asked abruptly. The woman turned around seemingly surprised at seeing the young boy inside.

"Yes, I am the gym leader. And you are?"

"It'd Ash. Ash Ketchum. I'd like to challenge you to a battle," he says nonchalantly.

Viola smirks determinedly always up for a battle. "Sure! You seem like a very skilled challenger. Alright then let me lead you to the battlefield," Viola said. Ash follows her out to the battle field where a referee was already standing in the middle. Ash took one side of the field as Pikachu hops off his shoulder.

Meanwhile in Santalune City around the gym area.

A young boy, dark blue pants, Long sleeve blue jacket similar to Ash's, red hat with sunglasses on top was walking around the city presumably looking for the gym. He walked around for several minutes looking lost until he spotted a woman.

She wore a brown and red short sleeve shirt with gray pants, similar hair style to Viola's. The boy approached her quickly.

"Hello. I'm looking for the Santalune gym. Do you have any idea where it could be?" He asks curiously.

"Sure thing," She smiles. "I can take you there if you want."

His eyes light up immediately. "Really? That'd be great! Thank you so much uh...

"Oh! My name's Alexa," She says, formally introducing herself.

"Nice to meet you Alexa. My name is Calem," He says as he follows her to the gym. A few minutes of walking later they arrive right in front of the gym.

"Here we are," Alexa said. "Let me just open the-

The door Burst open Viola panicking holding two of her Pokémon.

"Don't worry Surskit and Vivillon! You two will be just fine. Just hang in there!" Viola cried as she ran right past them. Alexa And Calem Are left speechless as the two turn and watch Viola rush to the direction of the Pokémon Center. Just then a Boy walks out of the gym.

He's got similar Clothing style to Calem's only he's got a Pikachu on his shoulder with a proud look on its face.

"What in the world happened here?" Alexa mutters. Ash walked right past Calem and towards a different direction of the Pokémon center.
