Part 28

Having met with his old friend Cilan once again he's been informed about Team Rocket's shady interest in Kalos, and Team Plasma's sketchy schemes in the far away Unova region. However, despite all this information about these dangerous organizations the boy was still confused about one thing; his significance in the whole plot. What part would he take in all this?

All these thoughts flooded the boys mind as he entered through the huge gates at the front of the school. He could already feel the looks the kids around him were giving him as he walked into the halls. Clearly that little rumble with Jack and the others made him just that much more admirable in a way. Ash reached the usual hangout spot where Gary and the others were always at.

"Oh, Ashy-boi. Oh man, do I have a surprise for you," Gary greeted him, turning the attention to Ash now as the whole group looked.

"I don't know if I should feel excited or scared," He responded dryly.

"Come on, have a heart bud. I got you something nice," Gary said. He pulled out a homecoming ticket and handed it to him. Ash immediately knew where this was going and began to feel slightly nervous for once. The usual cool and composed demeanor momentarily gone.

"Why did you get me this? I said I'd consider going, but I never gave you the green light," Ash said, with a hint of edginess in his voice. No one seemed to catch on to his nervousness.

"Well, too bad. Should have told me sooner. Besides, it's going to be a lot of fun, trust me. Even Paul's going. Is that not enough to convince you Ash?" Gary asked.

"No," Ash sighed in frustration. "This has nothing to do with Paul going or not. The problem is, I never said anything about going, but you went ahead and got me a ticket anyway. So, now I have to go you idiot," Ash said furiously.

"You know, you complain too much, Ash," Dawn interfered. "Why don't you just relax and go with us? Like Gary Said, it's going to be tons of fun and we'll all be there to experience it together for the first time." The bluenette then turned to Serena as if urging her to say something to convince the boy. The performer fiddled with her hands for a moment...

"Yeah, Ash. Who knows maybe you'll run into an old friend, seeing as this event does welcome former students to attend," She added. The raven haired boy gave it some thought for a few seconds and thought 'what's the worst that could happen?'

"Fine, I'll go," He sighed. Dawn and Serena cheered as their plan of convincing the boy to go succeeded.

"Awesome!" Gary cheered. "Now, all we have to do is survive a full two hours of Rowan's classroom and we'll have some fun tonight."

"Oh no, not Rowan!" Dawn cried in annoyance. "I'm pretty sure we're reading that stupid class book still..." the whole group groaned in unison. If there was anything this group shared in common, it was the mutual feeling of Professor Rowan's classroom and his activities. The Professor himself was all right, but his assignments and class activities were extremely difficult and boring.

Professor Rowan's classroom

Rowan fixed his glasses as the old man repeatedly took glances at a certain corner of the classroom.

"I hope you all are following along," Rowan spoke, in his usual annoying voice. "Most of this information will be on your upcoming quiz next week, so I sincerely HOPE you're all following along with me." The class just seemed to get even more uninterested at the mention of a quiz soon.

"Barry, What did I just say? And this is why you're going to fail the class..." Rowan spoke, almost mocking the boy. Barry looked up at him from his desk.

"Wait, huh?" Barry responded in confusion.

"Yeah, 'huh'," Rowan repeated in mockery. The class stayed silent while Gary bursted out laughing at him. Professor Rowan turned his attention to the brown haired researcher now.

"Oh, and you think this is funny? I'm trying to set you kids up for the real world, and you sit here thinking it's funny rather than being grateful. Laugh this off Mr. Oak. You're reading the entirety of the next chapter to the class," Rowan barked strictly. A few of the students chuckled at him seemingly put in his place for once.

Not even the smart students in the classroom, Dawn, Serena, And even Misty liked Professor Rowan, but they did like seeing Gary get put in his place and humbled.

This was basically just Rowan's classroom in a nutshell everyday. Arceus knows how the man could handle Gary and the others for an entire year. Skip to the end of the class...

As everyone was leaving Rowan's class with joy, Ash felt a hand on his shoulder. It was Gary.

"By the way Ashy, since tonight is an important event, you gotta dress for the occasion," Gary told. "I mean, no offense bud, but what you're wearing right now ain't gonna Cut it."

"What's wrong with the way I'm dressed?" Ash protested.

"Okay, drop by my place later today before 8 PM, trust me, I'm going to get you right. You won't regret it..."

Who knows if he will regret it? I certainly don't. Anyways next chapter very soon!
