Chapter 1328 Liam was standing in the rain, and though it hadnât been long, he was thoroughly drenched.
Blake quickly pulled him close, her voice laced with concern. âAre you crazy? Itâs pouring rain! What if you catch a cold?â
Liamâs look was subdued, his face showing signs of fatigue. âIâm okay. This is for you; I didnât want you to have to come out in this weather.â
As Blake took in his forlorn appearance, her heart softened suddenly.â Am I losing my mind?â she thought.
âNow youâll have to pay more attention to me, Blake... I was just so scared of losing you. Iâve put everything I have into getting you to agree to marry me; the idea of you walking away is unbearable.â
Overwhelmed with emotion, Blake locked eyes with him. âDid she teach you to say that too?â she asked, her hand moving on its own to brush away the raindrops from his hair.
A maid nearby, observing the scene, rushed over with a blanket and an umbrella. However, Grace, fully grasping the gravity of the moment, halted her. Acknowledging the significance, the maid retreated without interfering.
Raindrops clung heavily to Liamâs eyelashes, one trembling loose as he spoke.
His voice was soft. âI sought her out just three times. The first was right after we met. I was so nervous because I knew it was you. She helped me choose clothes, thinking youâd like them.â
âThe second time was when you were at the police station; I was at a loss. She advised me to seek my fatherâs assistance to get you out, but only if I agreed to take up his position afterward.
âBlake, I canât stand returning to the Xander estate; itâs like theyâve erased me from their lives.
âThat snowy day, I couldnât stand the thought of you being alone inside. Knowing how much you despise being confined, my only option was to wait outside. Staying by your side was my choice.
âThe last time was during your pregnancy. It wasnât the baby that worried me, but the fear you might leave because of it. I... I feel so insecure.â
Liamâs words, blending with the rain, struck a chord within her, pulling at Blakeâs heart.
Overcome with emotion, her voice faltered. Her hand shook as she touched his face, her thoughts swirling. âHe did all this for me?â
Blake lowered her head, struggling to control her emotions. âLiam, why do you always have to be so considerate toward me?â
She had never had anyone other than family show such dedication.
With Kevin, she was always the one putting in more effort from the start. Seeing Liamâs sincerity, she recognized a reflection of her own selflessness in him.
She pressed on, âLiam, why didnât you just explain all this earlier? Itâs not that you were in touch with Olivia that bothers me; itâs that you discussed our private matters with someone outside.â
âIâm sorry, I really shouldnât have done that,â Liam admitted with regret.
âIâm grateful that youâre ready to embrace this child, Liam. But make me a promise, that from now on, no matter what challenges we face, whether weâre upset or at odds, weâll discuss it openly,â Blake implored. âLetâs vow to maintain transparency with each other. I never want us to fall into such misunderstandings again. The day I decided to marry you was the day I chose to stand by you through everything.â
She took a moment before voicing another thought, âLiam, would you think about leaving Ventropolis with me? Just the two of us, away from everything else.â
Liamâs eyes, now shimmering with unshed tears, met hers with a spark of hope. âIâll go wherever you want. Just say the word.â
