âAre you the one who wants to buy them?â. Seeing Joseph protect his daughter, Hayden could only give up. Glaring at Stella, he said, âIâll forget it this time, but only this time. Stella, you wonât have pocket money for the next month.â
Stella pouted in complaint. Noah, who was standing off to the side, tugged her sleeve and winked at her, indicating that he had money. Then Stella smiled again.
Just as Hayden wanted to remind Joseph not to coddle the kids like that, his phone suddenly rang. He pulled it out and slid it to answer; he heard noises on the other end of the line along with a womanâs voice with a trace of bad conscience.
âHello, Hayden, are you home? Hurry up and come over, please.â
âWhatâs up?â
After talking for a few seconds, Hayden tensed. âWhat, how can youâ¦â.
Since Joseph was off to the side, she couldnât talk too much. She hurriedly hung up the phone, looked at him and said, âI have something urgent to deal with right now. Would you mind looking after Stella for me?â
âSure.â
âThank you very much.â
Finishing his words, not caring if Joseph had finished speaking, Hayden hurried to bypass the long checkout lines and trotted toward the supermarket exit.
Joseph wanted to say, âWhatâs up? I can give you a ride. But now he had to swallow his words.
It was rush hour after work. It took half an hour for the cab to get through traffic before Hayden finally reached the airport security department. As soon as he entered, he saw a woman dressed in black and white sitting upright in the chair. The sunglasses she wore could not hide her pride and arrogance.
Her white blouse was teamed with a high-waisted, fishtail black skirt. The 12 cm black heels with red soles made her legs look slender and powerful. The silver sequined handbag reflected the cold light. She exuded a distant, aloof aura.
âHello, Alayna.â Hayden hurried over, âWhat trouble have you caused again?â
âI caused trouble?â Alayna took off her sunglasses, revealing her pretty face still full of fury. âI just saw someone get bullied and fought for justice. Iâve seen a lot of bad people, but Iâve never met someone so bold: he dared to take off his pants in front of so many surveillance cameras in the airport parking lot in broad daylight.â
âWhat, take off his pants?â Hayden was startled. She hurriedly looked around Alayna as she helped her up and asked anxiously, âAre you okay then? Did he take advantage of you?â
âNo! Itâs not me.â Alayna stopped Haydenâs hand from aimlessly checking her body. And said indignantly, âI told you I just helped someone else. It was another woman who had been taken advantage of. She was just picked up by her friend, that damn rascal was left at the scene.â
âWho is it?â Hayden looked around, but saw no one.
âHeâs locked up, this kind of man should be arrested. If not, he will continue to endanger society.â
âAgreed. All right.â Hayden heaved a helpless sigh, âSince everything is settled, Iâll go sign the statement. Hurry up and letâs go, Stella is still waiting for me at home.â
Alayna was a straightforward woman. She used to serve the military for a few years, so she was an expert in martial arts. She could usually defeat three to five men at the same time. Hayden met her because he was fighting to help someone in a bar overseas. Since he met Alayna, he had to go to police stations to get her out countless times.
âWhereâs your luggage?â Hayden asked.
As he left the airport security department, he realized that Alayna was only carrying a carry-on bag.
Suddenly, Alayna remembered something and anxiously replied, âOops, itâs still in the unloading area.â
Finally, an airport employee took them to the lost and found department. Where they saw a burgundy-red aluminum suitcase that stood out among the lost luggage.
âI told you it wouldnât be missing.â Alayna tugged at the suitcase, as if Hayden was making a fuss, âOkay, Iâm pretty happy today. Letâs pick up Stella and have a great dinner tonight.â
They walked back in a moment. Alayna usually took a flight from this airport for her business trips, and she usually parked her car in the airport parking lot, so she could drive home after returning.
After putting the suitcase in the trunk, as they were sitting in the car, Hayden suddenly heard a familiar voice behind them.
âIâll send you to the hospital to see a doctor.â
âNo, thank you. I want to see my lawyer first, Evelyn is a lunatic.â
âAre you sure your injuries are all right?â
The deep voice echoed in the garage. Holding the car door, Hayden looked back, only to find two tall figures talking in front of a black BMW across the street. One of them was Joseph.
âHello, Joseph?â Hayden exclaimed in surprise. Shouldnât he be home now with two kids? He wondered why he was here.
Hearing Haydenâs voice, Joseph looked over as well. His expression changed a little when he saw her. âWhy are you here?â
Hayden closed the door. As he walked a few steps towards it, he saw that someone was hiding behind it. The bruises on his face couldnât cover his grace.
âHello, Mr. Jackman, what happened to your face?â Hayden greeted him.
Kevin covered his face with his hands. He said in a bitter tone, âHow could you recognize me, even though Iâm covering my face? You mistook me for someone else.â
While Hayden was puzzled, Alayna followed him and put her arm around his shoulder. With a smile, she asked, âWhatâs up, did you run into someone you know, is he your friend?â
âOh.â Hayden hastened to introduce them, âThis is my boss, Mr. Beckham, CEO of the ST Group.â
âThis isâ¦â. he was about to introduce Alayna to Joseph.
âIâm Alayna Cole.â Alayna interjected to interrupt his words. She took the initiative to offer her hand to Joseph, very direct. She added, âIâm Haydenâs best friend. Are you Joseph Beckham? Iâve heard about you for a long time.â
Joseph looked at Hayden. Then he politely shook Alaynaâs hand. âNice to meet you.â
âAnd this oneâ¦â Alaynaâs gaze suddenly settled on the man behind Joseph.
Kevin gradually raised his head as well.
In the air, all four eyes met, flames bursting immediately.
âCrazy.â
âDamn rascal.â
Two exclamations sounded almost simultaneously, one from Kevin and one from Alayna.
Hayden immediately grabbed Alayna, whoâs eyes were filled with rage. âHey, what are you doing?â
âItâs him.â Alayna pointed at Kevin, âItâs that damn rascal I mentioned in the security department.â
âIâm not a rascal!â. Kevin jumped up and hid behind Joseph, his face flushed, âYou beat me up, you psycho. Wait for the letter from my lawyer, I remember your name, Alayna Cole Right?â.
Kevinâs face was black and blue. Two bruises on his almond-shaped eyes made him look like a giant panda.
Hayden, who was used to this kind of scene when Alayna lectured others, couldnât help but look at him sympathetically. Joseph hurried a few steps back, distancing himself from Alayna.
âArenât you a scoundrel, werenât you the one who tried to rape a woman passing by? You had already taken off your pants, how fucking disgusting.â
Hearing that, Hayden and Josephâs gazes changed, looking at Kevin in surprise.
Kevin always seemed like a gentleman. Although he liked to flirt with the girls in the company, they had never expected him to behave like a beast.
âWhy are you looking at me like that?â Kevin snapped. âDo you really believe what he said? It wasnât like that at all.â
