âYou scared him.â Hayden frowned and reminded him.
Noah obviously withdrew his foot and moved his body slightly towards Hayden.
When Joseph saw Noahâs pale face looking at him with hidden bitterness, he somehow regretted it. He sighed internally and asked tentatively. âAre you blaming me for not taking good care of you?â.
Noah just ignored him and turned his head to lean against Haydenâs arms with his left hand gripping the corner of Haydenâs shirt.
Seeing that Joseph seemed to be a little depressed, Hayden sighed quietly and consoled himself, âMaybe he freaked out last night, let him calm down a little, heâll be fine.â
He didnât pay much attention to his son, it was no wonder he chose to be around others more than him, wasnât that a very normal thing to do?
The atmosphere was not easy. Next door, Stellaâs eyes moved and she tugged on Josephâs sleeve, saying in a cheesy way, âSir, I canât pass this level, will you please help me?â.
Josephâs frown somehow relaxed. His attention drifted and he turned his head, saying. âWhat level?â
âThis one, this demon canât be defeated.â
ââ¦â.
Thus the atmosphere relaxed again. Hayden stroked Noahâs hair and whispered, âNoah, are you blaming your father for not taking care of you and making you fall down the stairs?â.
Noah, who was in his arms, shook his head. He looked at Hayden with an endless amount of complaint in his eyes.
âThen why?â
Hayden was slightly confused.
Noahâs hand that had been dislocated earlier still couldnât move easily. He could only move it slightly, but he still couldnât lift it. He was so anxious that tears welled up in his eyes.
âYouâre trying to write, arenât you?â Hayden hastened to ask.
Noah nodded repeatedly.
âDonât be anxious.â Hayden pulled paper and pen from her purse and handed it to Noah. He used his left hand to hold the pen. Although it was written crookedly, he managed to see that he wrote.
â[I donât like Dad marrying another woman].â
When Hayden saw this sentence, he unconsciously looked at Joseph who was playing with Stella and frowned.
It was inevitable that children would be reluctant to accept their parents remarrying. A careless person like Joseph would most likely disregard Noahâs thoughts, let alone this child was incapable of speech.
As she thought about this, dark clouds hung over her. But as a stranger, she had no right to comment on this, so she could only lower her voice to comfort Noah: âYour father loves you very much. Even if he marries another woman, heâll still treat you well.â
Noah slowly shook his head. His face was contorted with intense anguish.
âWhatâs wrong with you?â Hayden clutched his shoulder, âYou donât like Violet?â
Noah hesitated slightly. As if he had made up his mind about something, he nodded and then wrote another sentence on the notepad hurriedly.
â[I want you to be my mom].â
Seeing these words, Hayden wanted to laugh and cry at the same time.
He really didnât know how to explain to a child that adult marriage wasnât that simple. It wasnât like kids could change the outcome by saying who they liked or disliked.
Apparently, Joseph had finished helping Stella finish a level of the game. He got up, walked over, and asked, âWhat did Noah write?â
Hayden quickly tore the page out of the notebook, folded it and tucked it into his sleeve. It looked as if he was afraid it would be found.
âNothing, just tell me what you want to eat this at night, Iâll fix it for you.â
Seeing her panicked face, Joseph looked at her suspiciously. When he was about to ask further, she already stood up and said hurriedly.
âWell, I have to get back to planning, so Iâll leave first. I may be a little later in the evening. If you are hungry, you should just eat something.â He finished speaking and hurriedly fled.
The door to the room closed quickly. Again, the room was left alone with Joseph and the two children.
Stella was curled up on the couch, busily playing. Even when her mom left, she just ignored her. Meanwhile, Noah stared at the door as if he was eager to see Hayden return.
Seeing Noahâs behavior, a wave of guilt rose again in Josephâs heart.
He couldnât help but contemplate what Hayden had said earlier. How irresponsible was he and what wrong had he done that could cause Noah to become so dependent on a woman he hadnât known for a long time and who, on the contrary, his own father disliked very much?
âNoah.â He called out to Noah gently and patiently.
When Noah saw that Hayden would not return, he hugged the notepad left by Hayden, wrote and drew something on it. He disengaged himself from Joseph.
Seeing this, Joseph reflected for a moment. He looked at Stella who was in the corner of the couch and remembered that Noah had always asked him to invite Hayden and his daughter to his house as guests. So, tentatively, he tried to curry favor with Noah, saying.
âNoah, how about this, when youâre discharged from the hospital, Iâll throw a little party at home and invite Hayden and Stella to attend the party together, OK?â.
As expected, Noah immediately raised his head. His eyes were full of delight.
âSo, youâre still ignoring Dad?â Joseph patted Noahâs head.
Noah wrote something on the notepad and handed it to him to look at.
â[Dad, you have to apologize to me].â
Joseph froze for a moment. He did some soul-searching and thought it was actually his fault for drinking too much and even for not knowing that Noah had fallen down the stairs not far from his door. He had indeed been careless.
âItâs okay, Dad apologizes. Iâm sorry, Noah, this wonât happen again.â
What Noah was thinking about in his mind, however, was the matter that he had brought Violet home.
Although they thought differently, Joseph had apologized. Noah thought that what Joseph had promised was that he would never bring Violet home again. Then, Noahâs face gradually looked better, children forget so easily. Soon, he was back to playing with Stella, even though he didnât play the game, he too was happy to see Stella playing the game with a fierce and serious look beside him.
On the other hand, Harrison woke up early in the morning. The butler of the old mansion, Mark, had just returned from the Imperial Villa and had brought news.
âHave you found out clearly? The matter of Noah falling off the second floor this time, did someone do it on purpose, or was it an accident?â
âIt should be an accident.â Mark looked serious, âIâve asked all the maids. At that time that night, the maid who was dedicated to taking care of little Noah to sleep went to make milk. So, indeed, there was no one in the hallway on the second floor.â
âNot even a single person?â
Harrison was uncontrollably suspicious about this.
There were more than ten maids at the Imperial Villa. It was really surprising that when Noah had his accident, there was no one there, plus when Noah rolled down the stairs from the second floor a lot of noise must have been heard, but surprisingly it was quite some time before anyone noticed.
âThat day, Miss Kidman was there too. She brought a lot of presents so the maids went to distribute things among them.â
âViolet?â Hayden frowned and his face shadowed somehow. He questioned, âWhere was she when Noah had the accident?
If it was done on purpose by someone, he really couldnât find a second person with such a motive other than Violet .
