After arriving at the hospital, Stella tugged on Hayden’s hand to head to the inpatient department.

“Stella, slow down. You’re going to rip my arm off.” Wordlessly, Hayden followed her out of the elevator. When she entered the ward and saw that Noah was lying on the bed in the ward, only then did she believe that Stella really wasn’t talking nonsense.

What’s wrong with Noah? There was no one else in the room at the time. Harrison was the only one sitting off to the side.

When he saw Hayden, he was glad. He immediately stood up and asked even though he knew the answer, “Who are you?”

Hearing this, Hayden regained her presence of mind and quickly introduced herself, “I’m Hayden Downey and I’m the Director of the ST Hotel. My daughter and Noah attend the same school, and you?”.

Her sentences were clearly organized and her respectful tone was one that one should have when confronted with an elder. Also, her gaze had some similarities to Noah’s.

The more Harrison looked at her, the more he liked her. He looked at Stella, who was slyly grimacing to the side, and spoke with a kind and friendly countenance. “I’m Noah’s great-grandfather.”

“You’re Principal Beckham?” Hayden straightened instantly, “I’m sorry I took the liberty.”

“That’s all right.”

Hayden let her sit down. “Have a seat. I’ve heard Noah talking about you. He really likes you, I still remember you saved Noah once.”

Seeing that Harrison wasn’t as tough as rumored, Hayden let out a sigh of relief, sat down in a chair to the side, and asked worriedly, “How did Noah get hurt?”

“I’m not sure of the specific situation. He got injured while he was with Joseph. Joseph says Noah hurt himself rolling down the stairs from the second floor. The doctor says his right arm is broken and his left hand is dislocated. His body also has many injuries…unfortunately, Noah grows up without a mother to care for him and suffers one ailment or injury after another.”

Hearing this, Hayden’s heart ached.

Although she wasn’t close friends with Noah, she was of a similar age to Stella. She had a missing son who was the same age as him and when she saw Noah, she always thought of her boy. She didn’t know if there was a mother near her child to accompany him. If not, the child’s situation could be the same as Noah’s.

“Fortunately, children can recover quickly. Since his bone has been fractured, he should drink soup made from snakehead to get calcium.”

Harrison showed an expression as if he was in a difficult position. “Is that so? But because of this matter, Joseph has dismissed all the maids in a fit of anger. I don’t trust the maids these days as they really aren’t careful in their jobs.”

“It’s okay, it’s going to be the weekend now. I’ll cook it and bring it over.”

“Great, sorry to bother you, Miss Downey.”

“No problem, it’s just a small matter.” Hayden looked at the pale face on the bed in the living room, “I also feel like I have a special connection with Noah. So it’s not a problem for me to make him soup.”

As they were talking, someone opened the door. Joseph and Violet walked in one after the other.

When Joseph saw Hayden, his expression instantly changed. “Why are you here?”

“I heard Noah got injured, so I came to see him.”

“You heard?” Joseph was in a bad mood because of the Noah matter and when he heard her words now, his face darkened and he questioned directly, “It’s two o’clock in the morning, how do you know Noah got injured? The operation just finished half an hour ago, but you’ve already been able to get to the hospital, what’s your intention?”.

Hayden was perplexed at her question. Since she had just heard Harrison say that Noah had fallen down the stairs, she was in a bad mood too. She immediately stood up and spoke in a curt tone.

“Is now the time to worry about how I found out? Your son is now in a hospital bed, but are you still in the mood to suspect me of ulterior motives?”

“This is my family’s business. Don’t forget that you are nothing more than the manager of an ST Group hotel.”

“Mr. Beckham, naturally I have no right to interfere in your family’s affairs. You are in a high position of power so you can easily fire me, but we are not on office hours now, I am here to visit my daughter’s classmate.

At first, I thought Noah was just having a minor injury as it is normal for children to be naughty. But now, I’m told his injury is so serious that he needs to be hospitalized. He rolled down the stairs from the second floor, that’s no small thing. You are very careless, if his head hits the floor, you will lose your child forever, did you know that?”.

Maybe it was because of the accumulated stress and high intensity of work over the past two days, coupled with the fact that this was the second time he’d heard of Noah having an accident again due to lack of supervision. So, suddenly, Hayden couldn’t suppress his temper.

“Do you know why Noah doesn’t call you father? He just doesn’t care enough about Noah. Ask yourself if he’s worth or enough for him to trust you and give him security. He’s his own son, if you’re not willing to spend time with him and love him, why did he want to have him?”.

These words struck a chord with Joseph and he didn’t know how to refute them.

His eyes suddenly darkened and a frown creased his brow.

The reason Noah had been born was to stand up to his grandfather’s persecution and gain administrative power in the ST Group.

Finding himself cut off short, he could no longer contain himself and as he was about to say something, Violet, who was standing to the side, said in disgust, “Miss Downey, this is none of your business. It’s other people’s business, what’s it got to do with you? You have no right to tell others how to do things.”

“Who says she doesn’t have the right?” Harrison spoke sharply. His old, calm voice echoed in the room. “She has a mother’s perspective to teach Joseph how to be a father. Her daughter is well educated so she is eligible to do so. Joseph, you should examine yourself, I agree that you are good at managing the affairs of the company, but with regard to the responsibility of a father…think about it carefully, have you really done your duty?”

Harrison surprisingly helped Hayden. Violet’s eyes were staring at Hayden and she was so angry that her hands were shaking.

This woman was truly like a ghost who was unwilling to leave. First she gained the sympathy of Noah who was a little nuisance and now even Harrison was helping her too.

So Violet blurted out at that moment. “Even if he was, he’s not a member of the Beckham family. What’s he coming here at midnight for.”

Stella, who was always silent, suddenly interrupted. “But you’re not a member of the Beckham family either, what are you doing here then?”.

Hearing this, Violet’s face contorted with rage and fury. “Child, what are you talking about? I’m Joseph’s fiancée, how come I’m not a member of the Beckham family?”.

“You’re his fiancée, so you’re not married.” Stella hid behind Hayden, blinking innocently.

“You…”

Violet was completely speechless.

Using Hayden’s back as cover, Harrison secretly high-fived Stella. But their faces still looked calm.

“Stop it, what’s the point of arguing? Noah still needs rest.” Joseph frowned and looked at Violet, “It’s late, go home, it’ll be enough for Noah to have me by his side.”

His tone sounded very impatient so Violet naturally agreed to leave. Besides, she had something to do, so she decided to leave quietly. But as she walked toward the door, she suddenly thought why she had to leave, but Hayden and her daughter could stay. So her pace stopped.

Then, she heard him say to Joseph. “You go too, we don’t need you here either.”

Satisfied, she sighed in relief and left.
