âTell me! Why are you appearing on the security footage from Caesarâs house?â.
Back in the living room, Joseph asked Benjamin directly about what happened before he could take a breath.
A few days ago, Joseph went to visit him in the Hospital to clear up that doubt, but then the whole scandal of knowing the relationship between them and Rebekah Beckham happened. Now the misunderstanding was cleared up, but he had no other clue about Caesarâs death.
With a pause from sipping his tea, Hayden unconsciously glanced at Benjamin, unfamiliar panic in his eyes.
âYou donât suspect that I killed Caesar?â.
Instead of an answer, Benjamin asked Joseph.
Joseph looked at him with a blank look on his face.
âInnocent is innocent. If you didnât kill him, just make it clear to me why you went all that way and showed up at Cesarâs house.â
The air in the room was thick.
His younger brotherâs new identity didnât make Joseph any more polite to Benjamin, he was more anxious to know if his little brother had anything to do with Caesarâs death or not.
âWell, I have to admit I went there at Violetâs request.â
Benjaminâs voice rang through the room breaking the ice, which also made Hayden serious.
Was he going to tell the whole truth, including Noahâs background and things that happened six years ago?
âViolet Kidman?â With a different expression, anger flashed in Josephâs eyes, âWhat did she ask you to look into?â
âNoahâs background.â With a flat tone, Benjaminâs expression was calm, âViolet wanted to know who Noahâs birth mother is, so she hired me to investigate. From the fingerprints Caesar left on the Beckham Family, I deduced that it had something to do with a surrogate mother. All the leads led me to Lanxi City.â
Hayden held the teacup tightly, his face pale.
Out of the corner of his eye, Joseph saw Haydenâs strange look and frowned invisibly.
âThat year, something went wrong with the surrogate. I found out the whole truth and found the woman who gave birth to Noah. Brother, would you like to know who she is?â Benjamin asked suddenly.
There was silence in the room.
Joseph turned to look at Hayden, to see her upset. After a while of silence, he refused.
Step into new worlds at g Ɐ lnÏ Î½ð® âsâ¤conn âNo, go on about Caesarâs death.â
With a shocked expression, Hayden looked at Joseph sideways, with unspoken feelings inside.
He was worried about her, so he declined to know the truth.
Benjamin gave Hayden a look. The truth was right in front of them, but no one wanted it revealed. Maybe that colossal accident six years ago helped bring them together. But things would change if Benjamin told him the truth. He thought it was better to talk about the past and clear everything up.
âViolet knew you were looking into that too, and she was worried that you planned to find Noahâs birth mother for the sake of his illness. She asked me to kill Caesar so she couldnât tell who he was. I pretended to say yes, but it never occurred to me that Violet never trusted me. She assigned another man to torch the place when Caesar and I were in the house.â
Joseph and Hayden knew what happened next. Fortunately Benjamin escaped the fire, but he temporarily lost his memory because of the head wound. Whatâs more, he met Hayden, who was going to Lanxi City on business at the time and was taken by her to N City after the colossal accident.
âThen I checked into the ST Hotel and regained my memory. But I couldnât let Violet know I was still alive, I had to make sure I knew if it was Violet who wanted me to die. So I pretended I hadnât regained my memory.â
Benjamin also recounted meeting Violet at the ST Hotel.
âWhatâs more, I analyzed everything about her over the last few years and I can assure you that most of the accidents Noah suffered had something to do with her.â
âWhat about the kitchen fire?â Raising his eyebrows, Joseph asked.
Benjamin nodded.
âI let her do that. She contacted the hotel workers and threatened Addison to do that. She was very familiar with the ST Hotel, knew the modus operandi very well, so she must have done things like that many times.â
In fact, Benjamin regretted letting Violet do that. He thought he was testing her. Although some accidents occurred, he thought he could protect the two children from harm. However, when Violet began her plan, she went elsewhere to find out why Noah had aphasia 3 years ago. No one knew what would happen if Addison hadnât figured it out and rescued Noah.
When she said that, Benjamin ducked his head with a guilty look to avoid Josephâs eyes.
Now the timeline was much clearer. These years, Joseph had suspected Violet. But she was very good at acting and disguising herself, so he didnât collect any evidence. Now the relationship between Violet and Franklin, plus the evidence found by Benjamin made everything clear.
Thinking that Noah had suffered greatly because of this woman, Joseph pouted. With his fist clenched and nerves marked on his arms, it was obvious that he was very angry.
âI advise that the police take care of this.â Benjamin knew what Joseph was thinking, and was quick to give him a piece of advice, âYou donât want to take care of this yourself. Recently, successive accidents happened to ST Group, and the reportersâ attention is still on your company.â
If Joseph were to take care of it by himself, he would most likely throw Violet to a desert island. But Benjamin was right, now was not a good time to do such a thing, the Beckhams had reported that the missing Rebekah Beckham and her son had returned to the family, and many eyes were on the ST Group looking for more news.
So things related to Violet had to be taken to the police.
Itâs dark and Benjamin wasnât very well. After chatting for a while, everyone went back to their respective rooms.
Hayden was sitting in front of the mirror and using hand cream, pensively. He didnât even notice Joseph approaching.
âWhat are you thinking about?â
With a jump, Hayden looked at Joseph with wide eyes, then calmed down after a while. âNo⦠nothing, I was just remembering something from the past.â
âAbout what Benjamin just said?â.
âYes!â Hayden rubbed her fingers together uncomfortably, âJoseph, wouldnât you like to know Noahâs background?â
âNo.â Joseph took her hand, âSheâs an unknown woman, itâll be okay if I know her. It is better not to know anything about her than to embarrass you. Noah is little now and he thinks you are his mother and you are. You are his blood mother.â
Joseph felt that the fake Amapola Baker had driven a wedge between him and Hayden. Best not to go any further with the thing, lest there were other misunderstandings.
Hayden was very puzzled, and many words had been hidden in his heart for so long.
He didnât know how to say them.
