After Hayden received the twenty million check, he hurried back to Lanxi City so as not to waste time.
It was midnight when he arrived. She didnât even sleep all day, to keep herself awake, she had drunk many cups of coffee on the way.
When Rebekah saw the check, she finally breathed a sigh of relief, âThank you, Hayden.â
âNever mind.â
Hayden smiled. He didnât tell Rebekah about the plan to pawn the necklace, because he didnât want Rebekah to worry anymore.
âIâve decided to send Benjamin to study abroad after this and Iâm also going on a trip. Ted will never find me again.â
âDonât worry. A demon like him will be punished sooner or later.â
âMaybe he will.â Rebekah looked at the clock and said to Hayden, âItâs late, get some rest, Iâve already prepared a room for you. Thanks again, Hayden.â
âIâm not sleepy.â After saying this, Hayden yawned. It was embarrassing.
âWell, youâve helped me a lot. Thereâs nothing else to do, so get some rest.â Rebekah patted Haydenâs hand and smiled sweetly, âJoseph was very lucky to meet such a nice girl like you.â
Hayden blushed at hearing this.
It was actually his future mother-in-lawâs approval.
Hayden said nothing. He went upstairs and lay down to rest.
But then there was a knock at the door, it was Rebekahâs soft voice, âHayden, are you still awake?â
âYes, I didnât close the door. Come in, please.â
Rebekah came in with a bowl in her hand, âItâs cold. I made lamb soup to warm you up, itâs my secret recipe. Try it.â
âIt smells delicious.â Hayden hurried to get up.
âStay in bed.â Rebekah put the bowl on the desk next to Haydenâs bed, then sat on the bed.
She even took the bowl to Hayden.
âItâs cold. Stay here and drink it.â
Hayden felt warmth as he looked at Rebekah. She was beautiful, kind, generous, gentle, and even mature and pure; almost all the best words could be used to describe her. It was no wonder Benjamin said he wanted to find a wife as good as his mother.
âMrs. Beckham, there had better be no misunderstandings between you and Joseph.â Hayden spoke cautiously, because he was afraid of scaring Rebekah. âJoseph always feels sad when he thinks he didnât have a mother. He complains, but he is also thirsty for love from you.â
Hearing this, Rebekah felt guilty. She said, âI know heâs a good boy.â
However, there was always something for everyone that they could not do at will. Everyone had their own scruples and problems.
âWhat if you tell Joseph the truth? I think heâll understand you.â
âNo.â Rebekah steadfastly refused. Such a decision was ingrained in her mind and would never be shaken.
âWhy, are you afraid of other peopleâs comments? Itâs okay, you can tell Joseph only. No one will know except him.â
âBut how is he going to accept the truth that the father heâs respected for years is not his real father?â Rebekah smiled bitterly. She tried to explain calmly, âHe didnât get close to me when he was young, so Iâm not that important in his world anymore, but his father is. Besides, heâs going to have a hard time living in the Beckham Family when he learns the truth.â
Hayden felt warned by those words.
Joseph was proud and confident. If he knew he had no connection to the Beckham Family, he would even refuse to take over the family group. Even the old Beckham could not accept such a terrible outcome.
âWe canât be greedy, thereâs always something we canât get.â Rebekah said softly, âIâm satisfied with my life now, so donât worry about me.â
Then she picked up the bowl the dishes, âGo to sleep early and get some rest.â
Hayden contemplated Rebekahâs back for a long time. He hesitated and pondered. Just as Rebekah was about to close the door, he suddenly spoke to her.
âThe dead are dead. As much as Joseph respects his father, Mr. Beckham is dead and can no longer answer to him. It is the living he should pay more attention to.â
Rebekahâs hand suddenly caught.
âThink about this, please.â
After a few seconds, Rebekah closed the door.
Although she was not in a good mood, she was exhausted. Thus, Hayden fell asleep quickly. He slept well and didnât even hear his phone ring.
At noon the next day, Hayden got up late. He cleaned himself up and went downstairs.
He saw Lily on the second floor. Hayden said hello and asked, âGood morning, is your boss up yet?â
âShe went out this morning.â Lily replied, âDidnât you know?â.
âWhere did she go?â
âI donât know, she left with a suitcase.â
âWhat?â
Haydenâs expression changed. He hurried to pull out his phone, and saw many messages on it.
Rebekah had texted him early in the morning, â[Iâve contacted Ted. Iâll do the deal three days later, I canât let you take any chances. You have helped me a lot. Thank you, Hayden].â
Hayden felt worried.
The bandits would definitely only allow Rebekah to go alone, but Rebekah had said that those bandits were all exiles. Once they got the money, they might not let Rebekah and Benjamin go free. She couldnât help Benjamin with the money alone.
Thinking about this, Hayden hastened to ask Lily, âDo you know where she has gone? Did she say anything these days? Maybe she has said something on the phone.â
Lily was taken aback, then tried to think about it. After a few seconds, her eyes became bright: âHer phone is linked to the network here. I can check where it is from the computer.â
âThen hurry up!â
They hurried to the reception desk and used the computer.
Lily worked on the computer for a long time, and finally found a plane ticket that Rebekah had bought the night before.
âAn eight oâclock flight in the morning, to S-town.â Hayden grabbed her bag and headed out.
As Rebekah had said, this business was dangerous. It was difficult for her to rescue Benjamin with the money, so she had a plan B.
In the car, Hayden called Edison Godfery.
âEdison, do me a favor â has the tracking system your company developed been tested yet â can I use it now?â
