When Violet came to her senses, Noah was lying in a pool of blood. He seemed to have lost consciousness.
Violetâs face paled completely as she watched her surroundings anxiously. Seeing that the maid had not yet appeared, she immediately returned to the room and pretended that nothing had happened. She undressed and approached the bed.
Very soon, the maidâs exasperated and anxious cry broke the silence of the villa.
âThe master has fallen.â
âCall the ambulance now.â
âWhere is the master?â
âGo call him now.â
âMaster.â
With a loud bang, the bedroom door burst open, and when the two maids who burst into the room saw the two people lying on the bed, they were so shocked that their faces paled. In a way, they forgot what they had come for.
Violetâs loud shriek pierced the silence of the room as she hastily covered herself with a blanket.
Joseph awoke with a start. He opened his eyes with a frown and was startled to see Violet seemingly naked beside him. He instantly sobered as he asked haplessly, âWhy are you here?â
Violet began to stammer with cheeks completely flushed and tears on the verge of falling, âJoseph, youâre so drunk you even wanted me toâ¦â.
Joseph rested his head with his hand and tried to remember what happened with his whole brain throbbing. However, he could not remember anything. Then he impatiently asked the maids, âWhy are you here?â.
The maids at the door finally came back to reality as they hurriedly said, âNoâ¦.. Noah has fallen down the stairs and lost a lot of blood.â
âWhat?â
Joseph suddenly raised his head and showed a terrified expression as he threw off the blanket and walked out of his room without even putting on his shoes. Violet who was trailing behind scrambled as she tried to put on her clothes.
Noah who was unconscious had been sent to the hospital and soon enough, the news reached Harrisonâs ears.
âWhatâs going on?â
Harrison stood in front of the operating room as he questioned Joseph with a nervous expression on his face. âWhy would she fall off the second floor for no reason? There are so many maids in your house, isnât there anyone to keep an eye on him?â
Joseph sat on a sofa near the theater door without saying anything. At that moment he gave off an intense smell of alcohol.
âHow much alcohol have you had to drink?â Harrison felt like he was going to explode, âHow can you call yourself Noahâs father while behaving like that?â
âSir, the young master you had to go to a business meeting.â The butler tried to explain on Josephâs behalf.
âIt was a party organized by the Nanjing Business and Trade Association. The young master could not decline the invitation.â
As he was giving explanations, the door to the operating room suddenly opened. A doctor came out from inside.
Joseph immediately stood up and asked, âDoctor, how is Noah?â
âHe has a fractured right arm and a dislocated left hand. Other than that, he only has some external contusions. He didnât hit his head, so itâs not serious this time, heâll be fine in no time.â
Although the doctor had given them reassurance, Harrison still felt his heart ache for Noah. When Noah, who was lying on a bed, was moved to a room by the doctor and nurses, he stood in front of his bed and sighed, âNoah has had an unfortunate life so far. Heâs so young, but heâs already suffered a broken bone, it must be incredibly painful for him.â
Joseph was still furrowing his eyebrows as he finally felt at ease after observing Noah sleeping peacefully. He then asked the Imperial Villaâs butler, âWhat happened today, why did Noah fall down the stairs?â
If it had been a normal day, he would have long since settled into his room to sleep.
The butler had no idea what had happened, âI was checking doors and windows when I heard the maids shouting loudly about Noahâs unfortunate accident. When I got to the parlor, I saw that he was lying on the floor in the middle of a pool of blood. I have questioned everyone thoroughly, but no one was by his side when the accident happened, he probably slipped or tripped over something.â
Josephâs expression grew darker and uglier as he listened to the butlerâs conjecture. âFire all the maids responsible for Noah today and hire a new set of maids. I donât want something like this to happen again.â
The butler nodded immediately and replied, âAs you say.â
Across the way, Hayden was deep in a deep sleep when the door to her room burst open. Stella burst in and climbed on top of Hayden as she pulled the blanket off of him. She yelled, âMommy, Mommy, somethingâs wrong.â
âWhat do you mean?â
Hayden rolled over and looked at Stella with blurry eyes, âYouâre not okay now?â
âIâm not. Iâm talking about my brother, something has happened to my brother.â
âYour brother? Since when do you have a brother?â. Hayden was stunned for a moment before pulling the blanket back over himself as he muttered, âYou must be dreaming right now.â
Stella was so anxious that she tugged and pulled on Haydenâs arm in an attempt to get her off the bed. âIâm talking about Noah. Noah fell down the stairs, something bad happened.â
âWhat nonsense are you talking about?â Haydenâs eyes were closed as he weakly pushed Stellaâs hand away. She was practically pleading, âIâm so tired, you should let your mother get a good nightâs sleep. You were just dreaming.â
She was talking about Noah falling down the stairs in the middle of the night. Why did she have that kind of image in her mind?
Hayden didnât believe her, so Stella continued to stomp her feet and announced, âMom, if youâre not going to visit him, Iâll do it myself. There are a lot of bad guys out there in the middle of the night. If youâre not worried about me, you can go back to sleep.â
After finishing the sentence, she ran out of the room.
At first Hayden thought her daughter was joking, but she couldnât be calm, so she decided to check it out. To her surprise, the rogue was putting on new clothes and packing her suitcase.
âAre you serious when you say you want to go out, what time is it now?â Hayden scratched his messy hair and looked at the clock, âOh my God, itâs already two in the morning Where are you planning to go?â
âTo the hospital.â
Stella fumed as she stuffed her feet into her socks, âMom, you have no sympathy. Hmph, I donât want to talk to you anymore.â
Hayden was truly speechless upon hearing that. With one hand clinging to the door, his other hand was placed on her waist, âI donât have any sympathy? Youâre the weird one here, you know? You ask me to go to the hospital with you in the middle of the night just because of a dream.â
âI didnât dream that, Noah really did fall down the stairs. Itâs true.â
âOkay.â Hayden didnât know whether to laugh or cry. âEven if Noah really did fall down the stairs, why are you acting so anxious? Heâs not really your brother, so why are you so nervous?â
âMom, let me come in. Iâm going.â Stella was fully dressed with her purse attached to her back. She pushed Haydenâs hand out of the door and walked out of the room.
âHey, so youâre really going to the hospital?â. Seeing Stella carrying her shoes near the entrance, Hayden was finally convinced she was serious, âOkay, okay. My dear princess, please wait for me for a while. Iâll change my clothes and come with you.â
They had to wait a while before they managed to hail a cab. Hayden hesitated at the thought of their destination, âWhich hospital are we going to?â
âTo the N City Special Surgery Hospital.â Stellaâs tender voice sounded inside the car, but at that moment it sounded very solemn. She sounded like she really knew what she was doing.
Hayden hesitated again as he asked Stella, âAre you sure it wasnât a dream? How did you know Noah had been hospitalized? Who told you?â
Stella pouted as she replied, âI just know.â
âI must be crazy.â
Hayden was truly speechless now. He felt like he was doing what a crazy person would do by following his daughter out of the house in the middle of the night as she left the dream.
