Only her grandfather had given her a sense of belonging to a family when she was young, when even Scarlett was strict with her. Mr. Beckham was a cold and serious person, very different from Haydenâs grandfather who was charming. But, in fact, they both cared about the younger generation.
Although both were unhappy, Harrison didnât mind. When they were ready to leave, he told Hayden that he didnât care about anything that happened. He wouldnât mind, but Scarlett who was a very tough woman, must have been very angry.
In the evening, the room was filled with the smell of shampoo.
Joseph took a shower and went to bed, then picked up a magazine to read while Hayden sighed beside him. Joseph smiled, still looking at the magazine, and said casually to her. âYouâre still upset about dinner. But donât worry, in fact, youâre not familiar with them, itâs a good thing you donât socialize with them anymore.â
âIâll turn into a pig if I ever come in contact with them again.â Hayden turned and looked at Joseph, âI was just worried about my Aunt Scarlett, she has hypertension and must be very upset right now.â
âThatâs okay, if youâre really worried, you can go visit her tomorrow and take a look at her.â
âI will.â Hayden sighed again, âI have a feeling something bad will happen again.â
Joseph returned the magazine to its place and clasped it in his arms. âDonât think about it, letâs go to sleep.â
Hayden couldnât fall asleep. She knew Scarlett didnât want her to marry Joseph since she didnât expect to see her be Noahâs stepmother, but she didnât know her relationship with Noah. She believed he would not treat Stella well since she had her own child. She wanted to tell him the truth before the wedding, but the most important thing was to confess it to Joseph first.
âI have something to tell you.â After hesitating for a while, she decided to speak.
Joseph hugged her back and rested his chin on her shoulder. Then he replied softly, âOkay.â
âItâs about Noahâ¦â. As he said this, Hayden felt him hug her tighter. She was too nervous to continue.
A few minutes later, Josephâs deep voice came from behind her, âI did bad things before and you donât have to think about it anymore. I wonât keep looking for that woman, you will always be Noahâs mother. Thatâs enough.â
He thought Hayden still cared about Poppy. When things happened one after the other, he didnât have time to explain it to her either. In fact, he owed her an apology. Now she was bringing it up and he had a chance to say it.
But Haydenâs feelings were very complicated. She couldnât tell him the truth after he said that. She asked in a muffled voice, âWhat happened with Poppy, what did she say to you after you learned the truth?â
âI couldnât find her.â Josephâs chin brushed the back of her neck and he said carelessly, âI asked Magnus to take care of that.â
Hayden was nervous, âWhat are you going to do to her?â
âWhy are you so worried about that woman?â. Joseph hesitated.
âNo, nothing.â Hayden held his breath and said, âIâm just curious.â
When Joseph wanted to ask something else, she pulled back the blanket, âIâm sleepy. Iâm going to see my aunt tomorrow morning.â
Seeing this, Joseph turned off the light and said nothing more.
The sound of steady breathing came from the side. Hayden felt the steady beating of his heart and knew that Joseph was satisfied with the current situation. If she didnât lie too much, she wouldnât feel so torn. It was hard to explain what happened six years ago.
Later in the eveningâ¦
The bars of N City were still as noisy as ever, with men and women bobbing their heads and wiggling wildly to the music.
In a special room in the bar, Violet, wearing extremely vulgar stockings, stood in front of the electronic screen to sing a song by a Korean girl group. She sang and danced very sexy.
Before the song ended, a thin man on the booth couch clapped his hands. The music paused. The manâs eyes were a little cold, âGood dance, you are suitable for the female lead in this movie.â
âThank you, Director White.â Violet stood up straight, smiled and bowed to the man.
After Franklin was incarcerated, she lost a lot of resources. If she wanted to make money, she had to make movies; and if she wanted to make movies, she had to attend all kinds of shows. At first she never participated in such parties, but now she had to drink to make $10 million.
âBut youâre missing something.â The man looked at her, âDo you know what you need?â.
Violet froze. âPlease tell me.â
âYouâre not sexy enough.â The man exhaled a smoke ring, he looked very comfortable, âThe leading lady in the movie is a prostitute and has no shame in her flesh. What you just did is not ambitious.â
After being in this circle for so many years, Violet understood what he wanted. In fact, he just wanted her to offer herself. She slowly raised her head, her red lips were seductive. She smiled charmingly and slowly lowered her shoulder strap.
Her beautiful shoulder was left in the air. And she said softly, âThen, Director White, Iâll try again.â
The bar went quiet in the early morning.
Outside a plush room, a girl dressed in a bunny suit had been leaning against the wall.
The door opened and the girl woke up. She yawned tiredly. âAre you finished?â
Hearing that, Violet blushed and looked at her fiercely. The âbunny girlâ immediately covered her mouth, âI didnât mean thatâ¦â.
Violet was very upset. âRemember itâs all because of Joseph and Hayden. They make me suffer this, someday they will pay for what they didâ.
The âbunny girlâ shuddered and followed her intently.
âI didnât dare go out today, Josephâs people are in this neighborhood. They have been hanging around here every day for a long time. They seem to be out to get me, what should I do? I canât stay here for the rest of my life to sell beers.â
âWhat are you worried about?â Violet looked at her impatiently. She grimaced and said coldly, âWhat if you get caught, is he going to kill you? He wants to catch you, doesnât he? I want to see how heâll react if he knows the woman he loves has been lying to him.â
