Alan pointed to Stella sitting on the slide, crying loudly, âShe pushed me.â
Stella froze and hurried to explain, âI didnât do that. Youâre lying.â
Aurora was the princess of the Barnett family and was very spoiled, so her two children were too. After hearing her sonâs words, she couldnât control herself, got up and walked over to Stella.
The slide was less than three feet high and any adult could easily lower the child down. But before doing so, Aurora was pushed violently, falling back two steps. Noah opened his arms to protect the front of the slide.
âYou fool, what are you doing?â Aurora was furious and said what she wanted to say. At that moment, the crowd also rushed forward.
Hayden stepped to the front, when he heard their words he got angry. So she rushed to walk and pulled Noah behind her. Then she got Stella from the slide and looked coldly at Aurora, âWhat did you just say?â.
Auroraâs face was grim with anger. âDonât blame me for misspeaking. If they pushed your daughter down the slide, youâd lose your temper too.â
With so many people gathered around, Hayden looked at Alan. âIf my daughter fell, I wouldnât blame others first, but see if my daughter was okay.â Aurora was hugging Alan and wiping her tears, so she said sharply, âTake him to the hospital. Why are you still here? If something happens to Alan, you wonât be able to be calm.â
It was irrational and everyone frowned. Hayden looked angry, Aurora and Samantha spoiled the meal. She really should have listened to Scarlettâs words and not invited them. Samantha competed against Nathan for the family fortune when her grandfather was still alive. She made the whole family lose their presence, she and her husband were unreasonable at all.
âThereâs a doctor here.â Joseph had asked the waiter to fetch the hotelâs private doctor.
When the doctor checked the boy, his nose was no longer bleeding. âThereâs nothing wrong with him, he just hurt his nose and itâs not bleeding anymore. Donât worry too much.â
Hearing these words, everyone sighed in relief.
Aurora looked at Hayden and said sadly, âItâs lucky for Alan⦠Hayden, you have to teach your daughter to be polite. Youâre marrying Joseph and you canât let Stella do something like that again.â
If this were a regular situation, Hayden would have argued with her, but today was a special day. Old Mr. Beckham was still here and she didnât want to embarrass him, so she clenched her fist and said nothing.
Scarlett was angry too, but she was restrained by Nathan.
âWe all know Stella is a good girl.â A voice came from behind the crowd.
gⱯlnÏνð®âsâ¤cøm, your destination for tales When they heard his voice, Hayden froze for a moment. Since the boy had been injured, Harrison hadnât spoken at all. But now they realized that Old Mr. Beckham turned cold and angry, âI thought before that, as a family, you would protect Hayden, but today I know I was wrong. I have never seen people as rude as you in my life.â
The old manâs words were loud and clear, like a slap in the face to Samantha and her family. âIf it werenât for the fact that you are part of the few people left in Haydenâs motherâs family, you wouldnât even be qualified to enter this place. What did you just call Noah?â
After Aurora heard those words, her face paled.
âFool?â The old man snorted coldly, âJust for that one word, you can go.â
The atmosphere in the room suddenly stiffened. Aurora froze for a moment, and before she could look back, the two bodyguards had already dragged her out. Only her screams could be heard, Auroraâs husband shooed her away. Her uncle, probably because he felt ashamed of himself, also followed her outside, leaving Samantha sitting on the couch with a child in her arms.
âYou can bully people just because youâre rich?â Samantha shouted angrily at him.
Hayden closed his eyes, no longer wanting to see what would happen next.
âShut up.â Scarlett shoved her husband and scolded her coldly, âArenât you ashamed enough for Hayden?â.
After saying this, she took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly and stood up to look at Harrison. âIâm sorry we spoiled the meal. Weâll find another time to invite him over for dinner.â
After saying this, he walked over to Hayden and gently patted him on the shoulder before leaving the room. Samantha, seeing this, didnât dare stay any longer and ran out with the boy in her arms.
They were going to talk about the wedding date, but the meal turned into a farce. Hayden touched his forehead and said quietly to Harrison. âIâm so sorry, Grandpa, for embarrassing you.â
The room was very quiet. Joseph knew Hayden was sad, so he spoke for her. âGrandfather, Haydenâs uncleâs family is not familiar with her. They canât be seen as her relatives. Todayâ¦â
âIt has nothing to do with her.â The old man interrupted Josephâs words. His voice was serious and kind. Hayden slowly raised her head and looked at him in surprise. âIf I hadnât insisted on letting Hayden invite them, there wouldnât have been so much trouble today. What does this have to do with Hayden?â
âGrandpa.â Hayden was deeply moved, his grief gradually disappearing.
âHayden you too must have suffered many grievances as a child.â Harrison said softly, âAfter you marry Joseph, I wonât let anyone bully you. You will be his wife and my granddaughter, no one will dare hurt you anymore.â
These words were familiar to her. It was the same as the time her grandfather took her hand and said, âYou are my most precious granddaughter and the Miss of the Barnett Family. No one will dare bully you.â
Haydenâs eyes were wet. She whimpered and nodded heavily, âThank you, Grandpa.â
