Leon looked up with difficulty and glanced at the chair that was only three feet away from him.
He couldnât make out what the chair was made of. But it had a silver reflection and its backrest was linked to multiple colored circuits. In addition, there were two tubes installed to his right that were attached to a bucket of water.
Her expression suddenly changed and she asked, âWhat are you doing?â
âYouâre a model, arenât you, what will you be able to do if you have no legs?â.
Looking at him seriously and angrily, Magnus grabbed his shirt to drag him to the chair.
âLet go of me!â Leon screamed and struggled violently. But he could barely move as he was wrapped in a sack and ropes. He could only be dragged by Magnus.
âIâll tell youâ¦Iâll tell you everythingâ¦â. Leon screamed in fear. The entire basement was filled with the echo of his shrieks.
âIt was Franklin! He ordered me to get close to Hayden and take some pictures of us sleeping together. But nothing happened between us, I just drugged her to make her pass out. Then⦠then I took the pictures and gave them to Franklin.â
Magnus frowned and looked at Joseph.
Joseph didnât even have to ask Leon why Franklin would need those pictures.
All he wanted from Hayden was his Downey Group stock.
Josephâs face froze in the darkness.
Walking forward, he stepped on Leonâs face, âYou wonât be able to talk now if you really did something.â
âLet me go, please. They made me do it.â
âMr. Beckham.â
Fearful that things would get messy if Leon died, Magnus said, âNow that weâre done with him, should we let him go?â
Withdrawing his foot, Joseph said coldly, âYou donât need to finish this. Those two thugs outside will know what to do.â
Magnus let out a sigh of relief. He didnât really care what happened to Leon as long as he didnât have to punish him himself.
Leon was a shitty person anyway.
Then they came out of the basement and told those two thugs to go inside. After a minute, Magnus could hear miserable screaming, but that sound quickly disappeared.
Magnus couldnât even think about what these two thugs were doing.
âWhat should we do now, Mr. Beckham?â.
âWeâll see.â Said Joseph sitting in the back seat.
For Old Master Beckhamâs sake, Joseph hadnât cared much about what Franklin did before. Whatâs more, he hadnât had time to manage the company lately, so Franklin âhelpedâ him with that. But now, everything had changed, because he messed with the wrong person.
As the new year approached, there was a drill at the University of Public Safety.
Receiving his license plate number, Benjamin pinned it to the inside of his battle suit, it was so that other people could identify him in case something dangerous happened to him during the drill.
âHey, dummy.â
Andrea called out to Benjamin and slapped him hard on the shoulder before he could respond.
Ignoring his cough, Andrea told him seriously, âFollow me later.â
Benjamin did his best to push her away and said, âFollow you? Not in a million years. What did you call me? You should call me by my code name, yes? Iâm Phoenix.â
Andrea glared at him and slung the drill rifle over her shoulder.
âBullshit, youâre nothing but a wimp. My weighted cross-country running score when Iâm on the ruler is even higher than your best score. To be honest, in this kind of drill, your intelligence unit doesnât really matter. City N isnât big, so we can do a sweep search.â
Livid with anger, Benjamin said, âYou can conduct a sweep search in N City, but when itâs really wartime, you certainly wonât be able to search the whole world without the help of our intelligence unit.â
Raising her eyebrows, Andrea said, âWell, itâs I wonât deny it, but you have to follow me this time.â
âNo.â Shaking her off, Benjamin said, âI have my own plan, besides you donât need a member of the intelligence unit. Iâll do my own.â
âWhat, no.â Andrea chased after him and said, âYou canât leave the squadron without permission.â
âYou need a sweep search, right? Iâll be responsible for the eastern part of N City. You can have other people to search other places.â
âEast N City is too crowded, you wonât be able to find anything. Letâs go to the western part of N City.â
âI have to go there.â
Sensing his insistence, Andrea asked puzzled, âWhy are you so eager to go there? Is there anything I donât know about in eastern N City?â
âOf course.â Benjamin raised his eyebrows, âA drug manufacturing and sales hideout. Do you believe me or not?â
âBullshit. Why didnât you report it thatâs true?â.
âThey may have personal connections to the narcotics squad. So I decided to investigate it myself and arrest them all.â
Hearing his words, Andrea thought he was joking, but realizing he was serious, her face changed.
âEnough of this nonsense.â
âItâs not nonsense!â
âNo, I have to report it.â
âYou canât do that.â Benjamin immediately dragged Andrea over and said, âIâll do it myself, you canât report it.â
âAre you crazy?â Andreaâs face darkened, âThis is just a drill, remember? All the hideouts are prepared beforehand. Whatâs more, all our mistresses are out of bullets. What if something goes wrong? Besides, there are other members in our team. What if they run into you and assume itâs just the prearranged hideout?â
âThatâs why I asked you to let me take over the east of N City.â Benjamin looked quite serious, âTeam members will not encroach on other membersâ territory once the area is clearly divided. Besides, Iâm confident I can apprehend the person responsible. I donât want to receive a medal or anything, I just want to stop them all.â
Andrea paused slightly. Whenever Benjamin talked about this sort of thing, she followed his train of thought. Really, she started to notice this man when he delivered that speech at the opening ceremony at the university.
To her, Benjamin was quite weak and couldnât even fight a girl, but he was a real man.
âRight.â Andrea frowned, âBut I have one condition.â
âGo ahead.â
Andrea was the commander of this team, so getting her approval was an advantage for Benjamin. He really hadnât expected Andrea to be so easily persuaded.
âIâll go there with you.â
Hearing her words, Benjamin paused.
Andrea spoke again. âYour every move must have my approval when we get there. Absolute obedience is in the blood of our soldiers.â
Although Benjamin was displeased, he had to listen to her.
After the morale-boosting meeting, Andrea divided the search territories in her team and asked two people to follow her. They then headed together to the eastern part of N City.
