She examined her own body in the bathroom and felt relieved.
Even though she didnât remember anything from last night, her body wasnât lying to her.
Nothing happened last night.
After showering, she began to collect any possible evidence that was in the room. The first thing she saw was the watch. It had to be Leonâs.
So it was Leon who had taken her to the room last night, then her clothes? it all made little sense, but she didnât hesitate to call Leon.
gαâηÏνððsâ¤com, home to unforgettable stories It rang for quite a while before the call was answered. And the first thing Hayden heard was the airport announcement.
âLeon, where are you?â He frowned.
âAt the airport.â Leon sounded much more distant than usual. He sounded like a totally different person, âIâm waiting for my flight. Iâm boarding in five minutes, Iâve been waiting for your call.â
Hayden paused for a second.
âWhat do you mean, what happened last night?â.
âNothing. Thatâs all I can tell you.â Leon sounded conflicted, âI canât tell you much. But youâll know soon enough. Iâm really sorry, Hayden.â
âHello?â Hayden had more questions to ask, but Leon hung up. When he dialed him again, he could only hear the answering machine.
At the airport, Leon glanced at his phone. He had just received a message, notifying him that a transfer had been made to his account. He laughed, mocking himself. He exhaled a long sigh as his assistant told him to get in line. He turned off the phone and tossed the chip in the wastebasket.
He would probably never return to this city.
The plane left a wake in the sky over N City, a city from which some leave in a hurry and others stay to face their ordeal.
Hayden received a call from Anna after leaving the hotel. Anna told him that a contract they had been negotiating about for some time had finally closed and asked him to sign the contact at the downtown golf course this afternoon.
So Hayden finally went home, took another shower and changed.
As she was putting on her makeup, looking at herself in the mirror, she suddenly realized how tough she had become now. She wouldnât have been quiet if it had been a few years ago.
How she took it was simple. No big deal if nothing happened.
At 2 p.m., Hayden found Anna outside the golf course.
âIâm here.â
Hayden rolled down the window and waved Anna over.
Anna trotted over and climbed into the car. The course was members-only; Anna couldnât get in without Haydenâs company.
âSorry Iâm a little late.â
âThatâs okay, I just got here.â Anna buckled in, âThis deal with HM Group has been long negotiated. The team was going to resign, but this morning we got a call from HM Group. They said they are satisfied with our new budget and agreed to sign a contact.â
âThatâs it â they didnât say anything else?â Hayden was incredulous, âIâve heard that HM Group is a very complicated company to do business with, especially with their team of consultants. They didnât say anything about visiting our company?â
Anna shook her head. âThatâs why I was surprised. If they send a team to our company, it will be such a long process that Iâm afraid we wonât complete the contract by the end of the year.â
âWhat?â Hayden looked sideways at Anna, a smile in his eyes, âYouâre afraid Iâll make you work on New Yearâs Eve?â
âIâm not afraid.â Anna smiled back, âIt wonât be a big deal for me, though. Iâm just afraid the factory will be empty on New Yearâs Eve. By then, who can we blame if we canât supply the goods on time?â
âWhoâs in charge of the HM Group?â Hayden asked.
Hayden didnât know the details of this case because she is hardly involved.
âThe assistant manager of the produce department, thatâs Tomas.â Anna took a quick glance around and lowered her voice, âHeâs hard to deal with, heâs kind of mean. Whatâs he thinking signing the contact here?â
The QZ golf course was the best in N City. An Assistant Manager who didnât own shares shouldnât be allowed in. Odd that he would ask to sign the contract here.
But Hayden didnât delve into that, anyway, weird things happen in this world every day.
Following Anna, he entered the clubhouse.
As soon as they entered they saw Tomas. He is tall and has a square face.
As Anna had just told him, he looked like a bad person.
Anna introduced them.
âMr. Johnson. Miss Hayden.â
âA pleasure. Your reputation precedes you, Miss Hayden.â Tomas held out his hand.
Hayden took his hand and said gravely. âIâm flattered, Mr. Johnson. I had never contacted you before, but I let Anna be the one responsible for the negotiation. May I invite you to lunch tonight as an apology for my insolence?â
âI appreciate your gesture.â Tomas smiled, âBut I came with a friend, I think it would be best not to bother you.â
âYou could come with us if you donât mind.â
Hayden would invite a dozen of his friends to dinner if the contract was signed, too easily he would accept just one.
Tomas nodded.
âThen I guess I shouldnât refuse anymore, I guess.â
âWhat about the contract?â
âDonât worry.â Tomas waved his hands. âNice weather today, how about we take a walk outside? This place is really perfect for golfing.â
As long as you donât sign a contract, party A remains a God. And you donât defy the will of the God.
Hayden had no choice but to go change in the locker room with Anna. After changing, they went to the course with Tomas.
âAre you a golf fan, Mr. Tomas?â Hayden asked.
âI donât like it very much. But my friend does like it, heâs a pro. You could say heâs my golf coach.â
âIs that so?â Anna smiled, âMaybe he and Miss Hayden can play a game. Miss Hayden plays very good golf.â
Anna saw Hayden play golf on one occasion. Although she didnât know much about golf, she could tell that Hayden was a really good player.
âThat would be perfect. My friend is desperate for an opponent.â Tomas waved to someone in the distance and yelled, âMr. Beckham! Over here!â
Beckham. The name struck Hayden.
