Hayden looked closely at Joseph. But he seemed to be behaving as usual, as if he hadnât heard what they had said. Then she sighed in relief.
Stella and Noah still wanted to go to the hill to play, but Harrison was no longer interested. Hayden wondered if Harrison would still be thinking about Josephâs parents. He regretted his rashness during lunch, so he asked Stella and Noah to accompany Harrison to his studio.
Hayden told Stella, âHarrison is upset now. Be a good girl, and try to make him happy.â
Even though she was a child, Stella was pretty smart. She blinked, âWhy is he upset? Is it because you wonât agree to marry Joseph?â
Hayden patted Stella on the head, âItâs not because of that. If heâll listen to me?â
âOkay, I will.â Stella touched her head and pouted, âMommy! Donât tap me on the head! I want to grow up more.â
Hayden rubbed Stellaâs head, âOkay, I wonât tap you anymore. Go on, go upstairs with Noah.â
Stella used to be a naughty girl. However, she was enthusiastic about making others happy, so she took Noah by the hand and ran upstairs. She even grimaced at Hayden as she ran up, âYes, maâam!â.
Joseph was reading a book on the couch. After hearing Stellaâs lovely voice, he lifted his head from the book and saw that Hayden was standing on the stairs, telling the kids to slow down.
With the bright sunlight streaming in through the window, Hayden decided to get some sun.
At that moment, Joseph felt all the furniture come to life thanks to Hayden.
âItâs time to plan your wedding.â Joseph kept replaying in his mind what Harrison had said. He should be impatient, but he was actually glad to hear it.
If he married Hayden, he would raise the children with her. And they would enjoy each otherâs company, which sounded fantastic compared to the days when he was alone. Why had it never occurred to her?
After running the ad, the Downey Group had held a meeting to analyze the effectiveness of advertising according to relevant statistics. They concluded that sales would double year after year because of Leonâs charm.
âHe will sponsor our product for one year. And we could consider extending the contract for another year if sales continue to increaseâ¦â.
Talking over the brand spokesperson with the advertising department executive, Hayden was interrupted by knocking on the door.
âCome in.â
âMiss Downey.â In came Anna, âLeonâs assistant brought you some gifts, where would you like to put them?â.
ðÃЯE ðPÄÎTÎÅ IÐ GÎÅÐÃVÎÅÅ.áÃá° Hayden was confused, âWhat gifts?â.
âHe told me you had given him a coat. But he stained it, so he bought you new ones.â Anna said, in amazement.
The executive asked bluntly, âIs he your friend?â.
âNo.â Hayden shot her a look. He didnât quite understand what Anna said, so he replied, âJust a coat, put it on the couch, take care of that.â
Anna didnât know what to do, âI canât take care of this by myself.â
Hayden was puzzled.
Anna opened another side of the door and in walked two young women with a stack of bags. The corner of the office was soon piled with those bags.
Hayden stared at the corner, âWasnât that just a coat, whatâs all this stuff for?â.
Anna asked the assistant to explain. âWait, please tell Miss Downey whatâs going on.â
The assistant rubbed his head, âLeon said the mall was no longer selling the coat you gave her. So he felt sorry for you, thatâs why he bought all the clothes of that brand, including the accessories. They are all her size.
Anna and the executive looked into each otherâs eyes in surprise.
This brand was very broad. Leon could have spent his entire commission on this large purchase, he was very generous with his money.
Hayden frowned, âNo need, itâs just a coat. Take the clothes and return them.â
âWe came to bring you the clothes.â He waved his hand, âWe canât take it back. If you donât want the clothes, youâd better tell her yourself. Donât make it difficult for us, please.â
Saying this, they quickly left the office.
âMiss Downeyâ¦â. Anna looked at Hayden.
âLeave them.â Hayden frowned and felt embarrassed again, âIâll call Leon when Iâm unoccupied.â
Anna sighed in relief. She was afraid Hayden would ask for them back.
Leon had asked her so many questions about Hayden these days.
At first she was delighted to talk to him, but then she felt tired. Anna found it exhausting dealing with a tender boy.
With all those clothes piled on the floor, Hayden was often distracted from his work, so she asked the executive to leave.
Staring at the bags for a while, Hayden asked Anna to come in, âCalculate the total price of the clothes.â
Anna was surprised, âNow?â.
âYes.â Hayden pulled a tag out of the bag and took a look, âThere are still the tags, add up the price of all the tags.â
Anna was a little confused, but started calculating the price without asking any more questions. Ten minutes later, she gave Hayden a total number, âThatâs the total price.â
âThank you.â Hayden nodded and looked at his watch, âItâs getting late you can go home now.â
âOkay.â
After Anna left, Hayden found Leonâs bank account and wired him the money.
He took a breath and sat down. Looking at the amount of the transfer, she felt regretful.
She would never have given him her coat if she had known she had to pay him a lot of money to make up for those clothes.
The next morning, Hayden was eating breakfast when his phone started ringing.
âItâs my phone.â Hayden looked at the screen. It was Anna.
But she hadnât even gotten ready to leave.
She answered the phone. âHello?â
âMiss Downey, are you out?â Anna sounded anxious.
âNot yet. Whatâs up?â Hayden sat down at the table and continued to eat, âWhat happened?â
âI may have to come in from the subway parking garage. Somethingâs happening on the Internet.â
âWhatâs going on?â Hayden was confused.
Anna sounded rather crestfallen, âSomeone took a picture of all the clothes Leon sent you and posted it on the internet. Now Leonâs fans are fighting on the internet.â
