Hayden had no problem with the relationship between Cleveland and Freddie. But Freddieâs fans seemed to disapprove of their love. Besides, if Freddie made his love with Cleveland public, he would be out of job and even banished.
But lately there was a lot of news about Clevelandâs love affairs with different women. Hayden was angry with him about it.
Joseph was clear about why Hayden was angry with Cleveland, but it didnât excuse his behavior. He grew up with Cleveland and they had been friends since childhood, they had also competed as children, so he had helped Cleveland by not badmouthing him. As soon as they entered the banquet room, Freddie approached them.
âSis, Iâve been waiting for you for a long time!â.
âThere was a lot of traffic and we had to wait in line to get in.â Hayden looked thoughtfully at Cleveland behind him. Cleveland always followed Freddie like a shadow.
âHeâs got a screw loose.â Freddie rolled his eyes and glared at Cleveland, âHayden, stay with me, donât walk around or youâll be upset when you see someone.â
âWhatâs wrong?â Hayden was perplexed.
Speaking of which, Freddie took another look at Cleveland and said in a bad tone, âMy sister is asking you.â
Hayden felt a little helpless. He was obviously asking Freddie, not Cleveland.
But Cleveland didnât get angry. He merely said in a flat voice, âI think itâs better to have a friend than an enemy in business. I think Miss Downey would understand me, wouldnât you?â
âDonât manipulate my sister. Just say you invited the two scoundrels Kingsley and Michelle.â
At the sound of those two names, Hayden and Joseph frowned almost at the same time, looking impatient.
âTheyâre here too?â Hayden asked with a frown.
Cleveland nodded. He looked around and didnât find the two âscoundrelsâ. He said, âTheyâre here, but they donât seem to be together.â
âWhat do you mean?â Hayden didnât understand.
Kingsley was invited for the sake of the West Group. The AW Groupâs power was close to the ST Group in City N. It was a great honor that the West Group was invited being a small micro-business. Michelleâs family was not wealthy, so she would never have an invitation from such a party if she had not come here with Kingsley.
Hayden was a little perplexed.
The three of them looked at Cleveland. He pushed his glasses and then said thoughtfully. âKingsley didnât come with his wife, but with an anchorwoman from our company. And his wife came with his older brother, thatâs interesting.â
Hayden was taken aback for a moment and then frowned more.
He hadnât seen Kingsley and Michelle since their engagement dinner. But heâd heard that they didnât get along with each other anymore, but it had never occurred to him that they didnât even bother to get divorced .
