She kept grabbing at the skirt of her dress so she wouldnât get ripped by the wheel. But still, when they got off in front of a cafe, the dress had a slit in it.
âSorry.â Benjamin looked apologetic, âIt was an oversight of mine.â
âItâs okay.â Hayden replied smiling, âI saw it coming when I got on.â
âIâll buy you another one.â
âItâs a little expensive.â
âNever mind, Iâll buy you one.â
They walked into the store and sat down in a quiet corner.
âTwo cold Caramel Macchiato, please.â
A girl immediately responded from the counter. âDo you take me for a fool, who drinks cold Macchiato in this cold?â.
âCome out of your room and see the world sometime. There are people who drink cold drinks all year round.â Benjamin rebutted her, âIâll tell your boss about your attitude.â
âGo ahead! Iâll spit in your Macchiato, howâs that sound?â.
âHey, your mother will kick your ass if she hears you talk like that.â
Out of curiosity, Hayden looked over to the counter to see the girl Benjamin was talking to. Sheâs very cute, wearing a green sweater and a red beret, her eyes sparkling.
He looked back at Hayden and was somewhat annoyed when he saw that Benjamin was sitting with Hayden. He turned away and stopped talking.
âDonât mind him, Hayden. Heâs just got a bad temper, but about the accident, whatâs on your mind?â
Hayden smiled at him.
âI sensed something was wrong when Mark came to see me. And I think I figured it out after Franklin told me about his resignation three years ago.â
âWhat was that about?â
âMark told me that Joseph never went to Beckham Manor in Noahâs early years and only took Noah after the accident. So how did Theresa make sure the man was Joseph? She couldnât have seen him.â
Joseph wasnât in charge of the ST Group at the time, he was barely on TV. However, Theresa said she saw him on TV all the time and met him at Beckham Mansion several times. Thatâs why sheâs sure it was Joseph.
But thatâs weird.
âAt the time, the only one who was on TV, was the CEO of the ST Group.â
âIt was Franklin!â Benjamin blurted out.
His eyes met Haydenâs. His eyes said it all, though he didnât utter a word.
