He had to admit that what Mark had just said was fair.
âSo, whatâs this all about?â.
âThe biggest problem between Mr. Harrison and Joseph really isnât you. Watching Joseph grow up, Mr. Harrison has always known that Joseph is a cold person, heâs cold to both his family and his friends, and even to his sonâ¦.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âYou will have seen how Joseph spoils little Noah. But in Noahâs first year of life, Joseph didnât even take a step in the house. In his eyes, Noah was a requirement that Mr. Harrison assigned to him. And when he completed that requirement, Noah became nothing to him.â
Hayden frowned as Mark spoke to her. She knew about all the things Mark had just said, she had even judged Joseph worse. But somehow those comments were so harsh coming out of someone elseâs mouth.
âJoseph is not the kind of person you think, heâs good to Noah and Stella too. Heâs wrong about him.â
âNoah may be an accident in Josephâs life.â Patiently, Mark tried to explain, âJoseph had been neglecting Noah until three years ago. Noah wouldnât know what his father looks like if it werenât for the accident.â
âThree years ago?â
Hayden sensed something familiar.
âWhen Noah nearly died from that disease.â Mark continued, âWhen the ST Group was planning to replace their CEO. On some level, these two things are connected, even if they seem irrelevant to others, I think he deserves to be aware of this.â
Hayden took another sip of coffee to mask his emotions. He forgot to put sugar in it, so it tasted a little bitter.
Whatever Mark said, Hayden took it as a review of Benjaminâs research. Sheâs not surprised by the outcome, but the number of people who were informed with the accident, was higher than she thought.
Even Mr. Harrison knew that. But, still, he gave Joseph what he wanted, and it had not occurred to anyone to do Noah justice.
Was it the coddling of the last three years to make it up to Noah?
But Noah is only a five-year-old boy. The innocence he lost was far more valuable than all those material things.
Melancholy and apathy invaded Hayden.
âSo, Mark, why are you telling me all this?â.
