No wonder that girl was calling someone else that night.
Cesar made a mistake. The surrogate didnât show up that night, so Cesar sent another girl to the room. After that, Cesar had that girl deliver the baby to cover up his mistake. Cesar was afraid that what he did might come out, so he fired the first batch of bodyguards and then retired from the job.
Now everything is crystal clear.
âIâm afraid Caesar wanted to take this secret with him to the coffin.â Magnus said regretfully, âBut somehow, this secret affected someone. YA they went and interrogated Caesar, they knew we suspected it. So they killed Caesar before we found out the truth, it wasnât an accident.â
âBottom line, someone didnât want us to know that girl was the wrong one.â
âThat girlâ¦â.
âLook for her.â Joseph frowned. He glanced at Noah, who was concentrating on his food, and then whispered, âTake Noahâs DNA if you have to, and run it against the N-City DNA bank.â
The truth was far from clear. At first, Joseph didnât care about Noahâs birth mother, and he didnât want her to show up near him, but now it seemed like it was all about a conspiracy. He needed to know the truth.
Magnus realized its importance. He nodded, âSure. Iâll start looking now.â
â¦
It was two oâclock in the afternoon. The Green Lemon Clothing press conference was held in the Conference Room of the DF Hotel. Many journalists attended the press conference. People knew about Hayden and Joseph, so they wanted to dig up some gossip.
Hayden was reading the script given to him by Benson. It was only five minutes before he had to go on stage.
âHey lady, you canât come in like that.â
âHey, what are you doing? Call the police. Call the policeâ¦â.
Noises suddenly rose from outside the hall. Just when Hayden thought the someone was trying to sabotage his press conference, he heard an intense and familiar voice.
âIâm looking for Miss Downey.â
Hayden was startled. The door opened the next second.
âAunt Scarlett.â
Scarlett was standing by the parlor door. She wore a dark green coat with an elegant scarf around her neck. She looked to be in her forties, although she was already in her fifties. Scarlett was accompanied by three bodyguards who prevented her from approaching.
Scarlett was obviously angry. She walked into the room and said, âHayden, you donât need to attend the press conference today.â
âWhat, why?â Hayden was still holding the script and Scarlett took it from him.
Scarlett threw the script in the trash after glancing at what she had written on it.
âItâs useless to say all this, those reporters are shameless. Bentley was very irresponsible to leave this mess for you to clean up. Iâll take care of everything today.â
âAunt Scarlett, I canât.â Hayden looked at Scarlett with concern.
Everything was all set up just fine and now Aunt Scarlett was showing up to scramble his plan?
âWhat are you talking about, are you saying my words arenât as powerful as yours?â
Josephâs voice rose as they argued. âWhatâs wrong?â
Hayden was startled. Then he saw that Stella and Noah were hugging his legs. Stella lifted her head and called out to her, âMommy!â.
Things were getting out of hand. Hayden looked at Joseph, âWhy did you bring them here? This isnât a party, what are you all doing here?â.
âYou fussy little girl. Let me be the one to tell the media that Bentley is a bad person and wasnât even your real father. You have nothing to do with the Downey Group-why didnât you understand me?â
Scarlett was a temperamental person. Hayden didnât know how to communicate with her when she seemed so angry .
