Harrison looked at her, âWell, in that case, we wonât keep you any longer, will you come over tonight?â.
âSure.â Hayden nodded, hiding his bitterness as he lowered his head, âStella, letâs go.â
As they were leaving, Noah suddenly tugged at the corner of Haydenâs coat and let out a teary-voiced sentence, âMomâ¦â.
The situation at the table instantly tensed.
Joseph didnât react at all.
Noah had always called Hayden Mom, but not in front of everyone. He as always, was trying to see how Hayden would respond.
However, Harrison turned cold, âNoah, is it okay to call someone outside of your family Mom?â.
Noah immediately felt aggrieved, tugged at Haydenâs clothes and refused to let go. Noah shrieked with shaking hands, âHarrison is mean, I want mommyâ¦â.
At that moment, the atmosphere in the dining room was stirred. The maids looked at each other self-consciously.
âNoah.â Haydenâs tone was low, he longed to get Noah out of here right now.
Why put a five-year-old through all these ups and downs?
âIf itâs possible, I can take Noah to my house for two days.â Hayden took a risk asking that question.
âNo way.â Harrison kept a straight face, âNonsense. How can Noah go out with a stranger?â
Hearing this, Noah cried even harder.
âJoseph, why donât you take Noah and calm him down?â. Harrison became very angry with Joseph.
Joseph sat motionless in his seat with a deadpan expression as he listened to him. He shrugged and said indifferently, âI canât. No one can calm Noah when he cries.â
âYou just want to annoy me.â
Harrison was shaking with rage. At that moment, he stood up and walked over to Hayden. He tugged Noahâs arm pulling him away from Hayden, saying to her in a cold voice, âMiss Downey, you can go now.â
As much as Hayden resisted, he had to grit his teeth and walk away.
And it hurt Hayden very much to see Noah cry so hard before he left.
When they left the old Beckham Family mansion, Hayden put on his seatbelt and drove the car out of the area.
g Ɐ ln Ï Î½ð® âsâ¤com hosts great fiction Stella Downeyâs cracked voice sounded from the back seat.
âMom, Noahâs crying a lot-do we really have to leave him alone?â
Hayden stared straight ahead and his fingers gripped the steering wheel tightly. âItâs not Mommy who doesnât care about him, itâs just that I canât take him for now. Wait until the lawyer your father hired comes back to the country, Mommy will find a way to get Noah back with us.â
Stella snorted, and her eyes reddened, âMommy, why am I growing up with Mommy, but Noah is with Joseph? Was it because Daddy and Mommy kicked Noah out when he was a boy?â
The children didnât think too much, as their mindset was relatively fixed. They didnât have much experience of life nor did they understand the mistakes of this world.
Stella always thought Noah was like her, being Edison and Haydenâs children, only Noah abandoned them when he was still a child for some reason.
Hayden didnât know how to explain it to her. After a long moment of silence, Hayden blurted out, âItâs because Mom got careless and lost Noah when they were born.â
Stella was speechless.
After Hayden left, the dining room of the Beckham house was in complete disarray.
It was clear that Joseph would not intervene and didnât even want to calm his son down. All the maids were nervous because Noah would cry even louder when anyone came near him. And, therefore, no one dared to approach him.
âTheyâre useless.â Harrison pounded the table angrily and, not knowing what to do, bent down trying to calm Noah down, âNoah, donât cryâ¦. Okay?â
Noah sniffled and abruptly stopped crying. Just when everyone thought Harrison had magically coaxed the little guy, Harrison got slapped full in the face.
Noah told him, âYouâre bad!â
Everyone in the houseâs mouth dropped open.
Even Mark was shocked, staring at the scene in disbelief.
Harrison had been in business all his life, and had always been held in high esteem wherever he went. But now that he was old, he was humiliated to be slapped around by Noah.
Harrisonâs face turned blue.
âHarrison, donât be mad, Noahâs still a kid.â Addison stood up and spoke for him.
Joseph remained quiet, placing the glass of water heâd been drinking from on the table, casually watching what was happening in front of him.
Harrison wrinkled his brow and took a deep breath. After a moment, he bent down again trying to put a smile on his face, âYeah, Iâm bad. If you think by hitting me you can relieve his anger, you can hit me again, I wonât get mad and I wonât cry. But Noah, you need to stop crying and finish your food.â
Everyone was overwhelmed.
Markâs eyes almost popped out of his sockets.
âI want mommyâ¦â Noah shouted as he swatted Harrison away. Noah stepped back, tears streaming down his face with a sorrowful expression.
Harrison sighed and finally understood what Joseph had mentioned about no one being able to calm Noah down when he cried. It seemed that, other than Hayden, no one could calm him.
The maids took Noah away. Even if they couldnât calm him down, it was just to get him off everyoneâs back in the dining room.
Everyone lost their appetite.
The dining room returned to silence, but the situation was even more uncomfortable.
Addison saw everyone and stood up sensibly, âGrandpa, Joseph, Iâm full now. I have some things to take care of, Iâll be going now.â
âHave you had enough to eat?â. said Harrison politely, âThere are still unserved dishes in the kitchen.â
âNo, Iâm fine. Iâm on a diet and Iâm eating less now. See you next time.â Addison smiled respectfully, âBy the way, I have something to deal with tonight, and thatâs why I wonât be coming.â
After saying that, Harrison nodded, and Addison left the Beckham house.
After getting into the car, she opened the contacts on her phone, staring at the number for a long time. Finally, he plucked up the courage and dialed, âHi, itâs me, Addison.â
âAre you free? I noticed you havenât eaten much, how about lunch together? No offense. I just have something to talk to you about.â
The call was brief. After hanging up the call, Addison grabbed a paper bag from the passenger side and pulled out the paternity report inside.
A lot happened. At first, Addison thought Violet was lying to her, but she had to believe that fate was real after finding the evidence herself. It was hard for others to interfere with a fated couple.
