Chapter 244

The CEO’s little ones1,203 words~7 min read

After pulling out of the parking lot, Joseph stepped on the gas, his normally peaceful and calm face was filled with concern. This woman really meant it when she said they were done, walking away, just like that. But in doing so she had left him a lot of trouble.

It was approaching five o’clock in the afternoon. After the arrival of autumn, the weather had started to become much cooler, dusk was also coming earlier, hence the Kindergarten was also finishing earlier. By the time he arrived at four-thirty, it looked like there were no parking spaces left.

Joseph drove around the area looking for a spot, and saw a red car parked under a tree out front, and a familiar silhouette got out of the car.

Beep beep Remembering the cook’s words, he honked twice at the car.

A pale purple silhouette turned around, seeing it was Joseph, he frowned, “This is a school, no honking allowed.”

There was still a car between them, hence Hayden had to speak at a louder volume, sounding especially formidable.

Smiling, Joseph said slowly, “I don’t think there are any more parking spaces here, I’m going to park further away, if Noah comes out, help me pick him up in the meantime.”

As for the matter of picking Noah up, Hayden calmed down and readily agreed.

Ten minutes later, after Joseph parked his car, he found Hayden at the end of the line at the school gate.

“I have something to tell you.”

“Yes?” Hayden glanced at him, a wary expression on his face, “What’s it about?”

If he was planning to talk about getting back together, this was not a topic to discuss now.

“Noah hasn’t eaten rice lately.” Joseph cut to the chase, “Other than what Stella brings him in the afternoon, he doesn’t eat anything else. How do you think we should fix that?”

Looking concerned, Hayden asked, “He really doesn’t eat anything at home?”

This reaction was not what Joseph expected. Since they broke up, Hayden wasn’t responsible for Noah, he might not really care about this, he hadn’t expected her to show concern for Noah.

“He doesn’t eat anything” Joseph nodded, “I’ve changed our chefs three times, and he still refuses to eat.”

He hadn’t initially intended to tell Hayden this, in case Hayden thought he was using some tactic on her, but he really had no other options now. Noah’s health was not good; if he kept this up, the outcome would be terrible.

“For breakfast and lunch, I can have Stella bring it to you. As for dinner, how about I make it and bring it over, then you can heat it up for him.”

gαℓησν𝒆𝓁s․com brings your imagination alive Seeing that Hayden was feeling chatty today, Joseph’s eyes deepened. “We can do this on school days, but what about weekends? He can’t be hungry for two days.”

Hayden’s brow furrowed.

Looking at the side of his face, Joseph suggested, “How about we do this? You come to my house to cook on the weekends, like in the past.”

“No way.” Hayden rejected the suggestion immediately.

She had done that in the past and it had brought her all these problems, if she kept doing it now, wouldn’t she be sending herself into the lion’s den? She couldn’t do things that would only drag this out longer.

“So, you’d rather watch Noah starve to death for two days?”. Joseph was a little reluctant.

“How about this?” Hayden thought of a compromise solution, “Take Noah to your grandfather’s on Saturday, I’ll go cook for him. The place is closer to my house, plus there are more people there to avoid suspicion.”

She knew the old man had some problems with her lately. With this method, she could take care of Noah under the old man’s watchful eye, which would be even more appropriate.

Joseph frowned, an annoyed expression crossed his face, “So, you really want to hide from me?”.

In his thirty-plus years of life, he had always been pursued by others. But when it came to Hayden, why did he always seem to get caught up in his weakness? He even had to entertain his hot and cold mood swings.

“It’s not hiding, it’s avoiding suspicion.” Hayden reiterated, “Look at us now, we’re just ex-boyfriends, your grandfather is also against us dating. The housekeeper had already told me about this matter. If your grandfather finds out that we are still in contact, what if he seeks revenge on me, I’m protecting myself.”

“Have you been watching too many TV series?”. Joseph rubbed his eyebrows together, “Do you think my grandfather is capable of picking a fight with you?”

“Well, I can’t be sure about that.” Hayden rolled his eyes, “Some people are worse than on the TV series.”

“What do you mean?”

“For example, your childhood sweetheart. When she asked me to leave you, she just gushed and wouldn’t even offer to pay for my coffee. I think the people around you are all lazy and love to take advantage of others.”

“You…”

Joseph was struck dumb once again when Hayden brought up the subject of Addison. He felt extremely frustrated.

They used to say that those who cared lost. Looking at Hayden, it seemed he couldn’t care less about their relationship anymore, so he could come out with all this rhetoric.

“Then I’ll pick you up this Saturday…”.

“No need, I’ll go straight to your grandfather’s.” Watching the boys leaving the Kindergarten, Hayden waved, “Here.”

Holding hands, Noah and Stella ran out of the compound. Stella’s face was flushed, after saying goodbye to her teacher, she turned around and saw Joseph. Pouting, she let go of Noah’s hand and said, “Mom, let’s go.”

Joseph frowned, he had wanted to greet the girl, but the words immediately stuck in his throat.

Hayden, meanwhile, rubbed Noah’s head, “Noah, your father told me you haven’t been eating right. You can’t do that.”

Noah tried his best to utter one sentence, “No…it’s not tasty.”

Hearing this, Hayden sighed, “So you like eating what I cook?”.

Noah nodded.

“I’ve talked it over with your dad, on Saturdays I’ll come over to your grandfather’s house to cook for you.”

Hearing this, Noah raised his head with his eyes shining, as if asking Hayden if this was real.

“But my condition is, if there are situations where I can’t cook for you, you have to eat the food I serve you at home, can you do that?”

“Yes.” Noah nodded his head easily.

“Okay, will you promise me with your pinky?”. Hayden extended his pinky finger, and a big pinky and a little pinky connected, “It’s a pinky promise, you can’t go back on your words.”

“I’ll see you Saturday.”

Hayden left with Stella. Watching them leave, Noah’s bright eyes bugged out.

“Noah.”

Every day after school, this boy turned his back on him. A moment ago he was so happy with Hayden, but the minute she left, his face immediately darkened. This child’s expression changed even faster than the weather.

[When are you going to make up with Mom?]

Noah raised his little drawing board, his tender face accusing.
