Hayden let out a small laugh after reading the message and immediately replied, “[Kevin deserved to be scolded, you don’t have to worry too much].

Kevin was a terrible gossip, never keeping his mouth shut at the right time. Anything that came his way turned into a total mess. He was, indeed, a born troublemaker.

However, both she and Joseph knew that the biggest problem was not Kevin. Joseph was a man who kowtowed to no one, he simply needed someone to take his anger out on.

She was sure she would never get the apology she wanted.

The next day, Hayden took his proposal for the Joann Group uniforms to N City. Since Samuel had interfered in this matter, had caused them to be unable to work in private, they could now only proceed with their proposal through normal procedure.

After letting Dante take a look at the requirements, Dante approved: “The design of the staff uniform is not difficult, we can definitely meet all the requirements. As long as there is no one standing in the way, this batch of orders will definitely belong to us.”

“I’m counting on you.”

“No problem.” Dante lowered the tape measure in his hand, “Oh, by the way when is Alayna leaving?”.

“Day after tomorrow.” Hayden did some time calculations, “The day after tomorrow would be the end of the month, do you want to go see her off at the airport?”.

“No.” Dante replied curtly, “Tell her that when she recovers, if she arrives early, she can still compete with me for the chief designer position. If he arrives too late, he can only be my assistant.”

Hayden smiled a helpless smile. After staring at Dante for a while, he asked playfully, “Dante, a little birdie told me that you used to chase Alayna while they were at St. York University?”

“Who said that?” Dante’s swarthy face flushed. He looked at Hayden with an expression of denial, “This is pure nonsense, why would I give that girl a second glance?”.

“You’re right.” Hayden nodded his head thoughtfully, “I heard that Alayna chased you for a long time before she caught you, but you broke up with her after 3 days. It seems you really didn’t like her.”

Hearing this, Dante was startled for a second. “She said that?”

“Yes, she said she spent a lot of effort chasing you, but in the end you complained that she wasn’t good at designing, and you broke up with her after a fight.”

Getting no response from Dante, Hayden turned to look at him, but saw him with his head down, frantically measuring something with the tape measure, he was as if in a trance-like state.

“Dante?”

Dante came back to himself, “Huh? Ah, that was because she had a bad temper, I don’t like girls with bad tempers.”

Hayden acknowledged that, and walked away while smiling.

Most men didn’t mean what they said. If Dante really didn’t like Alayna, he wouldn’t have just given her his contact information when he left N City. This guy was a loner, but even so he wanted to stay in touch with Alayna when he escaped to the desert how could it not mean he never wanted her?

Only Hayden didn’t know what had happened between them, his regrets and misunderstandings.

Two days later, Alayna and Kevin left for the U.S. for treatment.

Hayden saw them off at the airport. “Alayna, remember to keep in touch with me once you arrive.”

Hayden hugged Alayna. As he hugged her, he could feel that Alayna had lost a lot of weight during this period, this made him feel a little anxious.

Alayna was so fragile at this time. After saying just one sentence, her eyes filled with tears, as if she had been hurt.

Hayden couldn’t bear to look at her anymore, so he turned his head to look at Kevin, “Kevin, if you dare to hurt Hayden, I will immediately fly over there. I haven’t come to terms with you for what happened last time, so you still owe me one.”

Kevin, naturally, nodded his head profusely. He looked at Edison standing next to him, and muttered in annoyance, “I have your best friend here with me, how dare I even hurt Alayna, doesn’t she own half of Wall Street?”

Hayden rolled his eyes, “It doesn’t matter if you and Edison don’t get along, no one is forcing you to do. Just don’t talk in such an annoying way, you’re setting a bad example for our Alayna.”

“What do you mean your Alayna? She’s ours.”

Kevin who didn’t seem embarrassed at all, just glared at her.

“Where is the evidence? Words mean nothing, you can say she’s yours, but who agreed to that? Edison, Dante and I are all Alayna’s family, we’re not as easy to please as you.”

Standing between them, Alayna watched as Hayden and Kevin argued with each other. The scene was all too familiar to her. After some thought, she realized that in the past, she was always the one arguing with Kevin, and Hayden was the one who acted as a mediator. But now, things had taken a big turn.

Thinking about this, Alayna felt a little nostalgic, suppressing her breathy voice, she said, “Alright, time’s almost up, we should head to the security checkpoint.”

“Wait.” Kevin tugged at her, “Joseph hasn’t arrived.”

At the sound of Joseph’s name, Hayden froze for a second.

They weren’t sure when Kevin would be back in the country, hence it made sense for Joseph to come and see him off. However, half an hour had passed, but he still wasn’t in sight.

Could he be avoiding her?

“Maybe we shouldn’t wait, he’s probably busy with something.” Alayna lowered her head to look at the time, “We’ll be late if we keep waiting.”

“Let’s wait a while longer.” Kevin insisted.

Five minutes later, a silhouette appeared at the international exits of the airport. Kevin, like a rocket, took off suddenly away from them.

“Here, here.”

Hayden and Alayna exchanged an exasperated glance at each other. Before they reached to make a comment about their friendship, Kevin had already ditched Joseph and was running back toward them.

Kevin was panting from running back and forth. Alayna was about to push him away when he suddenly dropped to his knees.

The airport was so crowded that he immediately attracted the attention of many.

“What are you doing?” Asked a startled Alayna, “There are so many people here. Stop clowning around.”

“Alayna, I have something to tell you and I need to say it in front of everyone before we go.”

Kevin raised his hand, in his hands was a black heart-shaped box. As he opened the box, it revealed a sparkling diamond ring with intricate stems combined to one of the rarest diamonds in the world, under the interlocking light, the diamond looked like a glittering cluster of fire dancing in the center of the ring.

“Actually, what I want to tell you I had already told you more than once, and had also been rejected by you more than once. I’m not forcing you to say yes, you can still reject me today, but I will no longer be like in the past, hiding after failing. I will always be by your side, regardless of whether you ever accept me.”

Kevin’s voice echoed through the place, his serious expression moving everyone. Looking at the man in front of her, Alayna’s eyes also filled with tears, thousands of emotions welled up inside her.

“This diamond ring is specially personalized for you, it’s called ‘A heart that beats forever for you’, Alayna, will you marry me?”.

Alayna’s body trembled. Looking at her, Hayden secretly took Alayna’s hand.

She knew better than anyone the happiness and mixed feelings Alayna was feeling right now.
