Joseph’s questioning had left Harrison silent, holding his pencil.

Joseph’s sonorous voice was heard in the study, “Three years ago, if you hadn’t trusted Franklin too much, he wouldn’t have had a bad idea and done something to hurt Noah. Back then you said to let this go smoothly for the sake of the family, since what happened had already happened. I listened to you, but I didn’t expect you to consider this person again.”

Joseph’s tone was full of disappointment toward Harrison.

After all, Harrison was unstoppable, for he always put the saddle on the right horse. And he would never be reckless of right and wrong just because it was about family.

Back then, Joseph had roughly researched who it was that was behind Noah almost getting killed. If it hadn’t been for Harrison stopping him, Franklin Hawkins would have ended up in jail.

“What happened three years ago might not have been done by Franklin. And there was no tangible evidence either.” Harrison furrowed his eyebrows angrily.

“What do you mean there was no tangible evidence? Grandpa, I’ve shown you all the evidence and you were the one who told me not to investigate further. As for the truth, you probably should have known it by then. If not, why are you saying this?”. Joseph was somber, “Are you getting senile as you get older?”

The pencil Harrison was holding in his hand broke with a snap and fell onto the sheet of paper.

A large smudge remained on the paper. A deep, resonant voice, with an angry air, sounded in the room, “I’m old, but I’m not crazy yet. Joseph, do you really want me to set you straight? For the matter of Noah nearly dying three years ago, do you really think I didn’t know who did it?”.

Joseph frowned, “What do you mean, what do you mean, what do you mean?”

Harrison was sullen and very angry. “Back then I wanted you to get married and have a child, but you refused. You even took Noah back home just because you were mad at me. Let me ask you, have you ever fulfilled your duties as a father? The three year old incident was very suspicious, those who had close contact with Noah’s nanny was not just Franklin.”

As for bringing up this old incident, everyone was hesitant, but Joseph didn’t expect Harrison to suspect him. “You suspect me?”

“Why can’t I suspect you, did you then accept Noah as a son? To you, is there anyone or anything that can’t be used?” Harrison was very grim.

Joseph clenched his fist, and after a moment of silent confrontation, a cold voice sounded in the room, “As of tomorrow, the ST Group passes into Franklin’s hands without the need for me to be fired. I resign.”

Just as he had just said, a clear sound of the door opening and closing came from the study. Joseph’s figure dropped out of sight before the others reacted.

The housekeeper chased Joseph in the doorway to say a few good words to him, but Joseph was totally indifferent and simply left.

“Young Master.”

“Mark, come back.”

Mark wanted to chase after Joseph, but was stopped in his tracks by a reproachful voice inside the study. Mark could only watch as Joseph left, sighing as he walked into the studio.

“Sir, why did you make such a scene with Young Master? He’s an adult now.”

Harrison wiped his hands. The calligraphy paper on the table had fallen to the floor, and the pencil broken into two pieces indicated Harrison’s anger at that moment.

“Is he an adult? He’s not even a normal person with emotions and desires.” Harrison frowned angrily, “I don’t know why he gets like this. There’s nothing in his eyes other than profit.”

“Not so much, Young Master is still very respectful of you and was also very concerned about Noah. Isn’t Young Master developing quite well with Miss Downy now, isn’t this what you expected?”.

It was best not to mention Hayden Downey. Harrison looked grim again, taking note of her.

“There is no need to mention this matter again, I have misjudged her.”

Mark was stunned for a moment, “Sir, does it bother you that Miss Downey has not yet divorced her ex-husband? Research shows that they have been separated for a long time and that their marriage has been consummated.”

Although Harrison was no longer in business, no change in the N-Town business industry could escape his eyes. He was even aware of the Edison Godfery affair, looking for partners to do promotion is N City.

After some research, only then did Harrison learn that the relationship between Edison and Hayden was unusual. Edison was Hayden’s ex-husband, and the two were only separated, not divorced.

But this was not the main reason for Harrison’s sudden opposition. He looked at Mark, “What explanation did Joseph give to the board for the loss of the project in Guangzhou?”

“The little lord said he made a negotiation mistake.”

“That’s just his excuse.” Harrison said angrily, “I have asked the people in Guangzhou branch, Joseph had left before the negotiations were finished that day.Do you know why? It’s because something happened to the Downey Family. Hayden’s father, Bentley Downey died of an illness and Joseph went straight to the airport.”

“It’s just…human nature, isn’t it?”. Mark explained, “After all, Young Master and Miss Downey were in a relationship.”

“But I shouldn’t have been so impulsive. The weather was bad that day, and he was waiting at the airport for two days, just to get the first flight back.” Harrison was exasperated at the thought and slapped his hand on the table, “It doesn’t make sense.”

Joseph’s temper was unsympathetic and extreme. Although Harrison always wanted him to marry and have children like ordinary people, he came to fear that Joseph would become involved in a complicated relationship, triggering unmanageable consequences.

Hayden’s existence had changed Joseph’s monotonous life.

Mark wanted to persuade him, but seeing the furious look on Harrison’s face, he desisted, as anything he said at that point would only be adding fuel to the fire.

On the other hand, Joseph headed for the yard where Noah was. He let the maid pack up some of Noah’s personal things and wanted to take him away.

Noah was having fun with Eleanor Beckham, and when he heard that Joseph wanted to take him home, he took out his little tablet and wrote, “[Where are Mom and Stella, will they get back together?”]

Seeing this, Joseph became morose: “Neither Mommy nor Stella. Just you and me, just like old times.”

“No.” Noah blurted out.

His childish, husky voice echoed across the yard.

Joseph froze for a moment. After all, Noah rarely opened his mouth. Joseph soothed and patiently coaxed, “Go back to Dad, you’ve lived here too long.”

Noah shook his head and instantly wrote, “[Stella told me to wait for her here. She’ll be back soon to join me].”

Seeing that Noah had made up his mind, Joseph turned in a sour mood and lifted Noah off the ground, striding toward the courtyard exit.
