Danteâs voice was like a pool of cold water. It sounded cold and piercing.
âYou say youâre Joseph Beckham, the president of ST Group?â.
Hayden had just walked out the door with Joseph in tow when they heard that questioning voice. The two turned again.
Joseph readily admitted his identity. âYou seem to know me.â
âNot just know.â
The brunet gritted his teeth angrily. Then, Hayden saw white snowflakes swooping down on her and Joseph.
A black shadow shot straight at Josephâs face, accompanied by Danteâs angry roar.
âYou came to my house unbidden.â
âWatch out!â Hayden felt dizzy and felt only a pair of hands pushing her as she crashed into the white wooden door with a clattering sound. She let out a scream and felt pain in her back.
When she regained consciousness, the two men in front of her were already struggling.
Joseph was a good fighter, but Dante was a tall man, 180 cm and muscular because he lived by the sea. Therefore, he only felt a little pain when he was hit by Joseph and each of his punches hit Joseph hard.
Soon, Dante gained the upper hand on Joseph.
Dante grabbed him by the neck and pinned him to the ground.
Joseph let out a choked grunt and received a solid punch from Dante. The corner of his mouth was soaked with blood.
âStop fighting.â
Hayden came out at last to his mind. She screamed anxiously at his side.
However, the two men didnât hear her at all, or rather Dante refused to stop. Out of self-protection, Joseph didnât let himself continue to be beaten. For the moment, the yard was a mess.
The dyed cloth and salted fish on the bamboo poles also fell to the ground with a clatter and rolled in the dirt.
Holding her phone, Hayden was very anxious and angry to the side. âStop fighting. Iâll call the police right now if you donât stop.â
Dante was so angry that he didnât care about anything else. He was simply attacking Joseph in a suicidal way as if he hated Joseph so much. He kept hitting Joseph.
Hayden couldnât take it anymore and rushed to separate them.
A loud crash was heard, accompanied by Haydenâs screams in the courtyard.
After hearing the sound of the screams, Joseph who had already lost his strength and was pinned to the ground to be bitten, had his pupils constricted and violently pushed Dante with a strength he normally didnât have and stumbled towards Hayden.
âHaydenâ¦â
In the courtyard, a large iron pot that was set up with a simple distillation device had fallen over and Hayden was lying next to the pot, with a black and brown burn the size of a bowl on his calf. White smoke was pouring from his wounds.
Joseph was very nervous as he lifted Hayden up and ran out of the yard.
Dante was also stunned, and his face paled as he took in the scene. He gawked for a while before getting up and chasing after them, stumbling.
âI⦠I have an electric tricycle. Iâll take them to the clinic in town.â
Joseph could only endure her complaint and climbed onto his broken tricycle, holding Hayden, who was unconscious in his arms.
Since she had been with him, Hayden seemed to have been encountering disaster repeatedly without respite.
At the Sea View clinicâ¦
Hayden was sent to the operating room to have his wounds treated. The area where he had been burned was not large, but the wounds were deep. During the treatment, she screamed loudly inside the room, waking up in pain and passing out again.
âArenât they going to put him under anesthesia? Why does it hurt like this?â.
Halfway through the treatment of his wounds, the doctor came out. Joseph immediately pulled the doctor by the collar with an angry look on his face.
The doctor was also intimidated by him and cringed. He just told him, âSea View is just a small town. We donât have an anesthesiologist, thereâs no way to get one. This is just a small clinic, you have to go to a big city hospital if you have that many requests.â
âThe city is fifty or sixty kilometers from here. If I could get there in time, do you think sheâd be here?â Joseph said in a hoarse voice with bloodshot, reddened eyes.
On the road, Hayden was trembling in his arms. He had passed out, but was still gritting his teeth and refusing to utter a sound, which made his heart pound.
Damn it, why was he in this place?
âDonât blame the doctor, this is just a small clinic. Thereâs really nothing you can do.â Dante frowned and tugged on Josephâs arm, âIf you pull on the doctor like that, there wonât be anyone to heal Miss Downeyâs wounds.â
Joseph was so frustrated that he let go of Danteâs hand and punched him directly in the face, cursing him viciously.
Dante stumbled back several steps in a row and fell down sitting on the corner of the wall, wiping blood from the corner of his lips as he raised his head. âItâs my fault for causing him to hurt himself, but you have no right to hit me either. If it werenât for you, none of this would have happened today.â
âWhat did you say?â Joseph flashed a cold look, âExplain clearly what you said.â
âWhat, you canât even remember what youâve done?â. Dante looked scornful, and the corner of his eyes hooked into arcs coldly.
âIsnât SY Clothing an ST Group clothing brand? What, just because you changed the name and all the staff, you can pretend those things never happened? ST Group is the most shameless company Iâve ever seen, the company was so nasty that even children became victims.â
SY Clothing?
Josephâs slightly furrowed brows were tinged with suspicion.
Dante didnât seem to want to talk to him. He stood up slowly holding onto the wall. His eyebrows and eyes showed a cold, arrogant expression.
He said in a deep voice, âI donât regret hitting you. You can call the police and sentence me to eight or ten years in jail. But before that, I want to apologize to Miss Downey when she wakes up. I didnât mean to hurt her.â
Joseph had no idea what he was talking about, but the tone of his voice showed that he had something to do with this company called SY Clothing.
As he was thinking, his phone rang, interrupting his thoughts.
Seeing the caller ID, Joseph looked at Dante and stepped out of the clinic as he hit the answer button.
The call was from Magnus.
âWhatâs up?â
âMr. Beckham, all the seafood here has been shipped to N-City. Why arenât you at the company?â
âI have something to do. Iâm still in Ningpo.â
âSo, what about the company meeting tonightâ¦?â.
âDo the meeting as it is normally done, just change it to a video conference.â
âOkay, Iâll brief the participants.â
Before hanging up the phone, Joseph asked her a question, âFive years ago, was there a clothing company under the ST Group by the name of SY Clothing?â
âSY Clothing?â
On the other end of the phone, Magnusâ tone was hesitant for a few seconds.
âYes, there was, but when I reviewed it four years ago, the goodwill of the SY Clothing brand was negative and had no more value, so I requested its closure. Then all the staff was laid off.â
âWhy donât I remember anything about that?â Joseph frowned.
