Chapter 202

The CEO’s little ones1,340 words~7 min read

“What?”

Hayden was stunned after hearing her words and stared at him in bewilderment. It took her quite a while to regain consciousness.

“Did he really tell you that?”

Dante glared at her.

“Weren’t you with her at the time?”

Hayden clenched his fist and cursed Alayna, who was lying to him again.

It was no wonder that before he came, Alayna kept telling him that his superior had no good character and to increase his tolerance. It was because he didn’t agree with what she was asking for.

If Alayna were not in a coma in the hospital, he would very much like to call her on the phone and scold her.

But for the moment.

“Mr. Bruke, since I’m here, could you spare me some time to talk about the intent of our cooperation? We can negotiate whatever you ask of us.” Hayden smiled, but he was cursing Alayna inside.

“No need, I already told you I don’t have any requests. I’m satisfied with my current life.”

“We won’t force you if you don’t want to.” Joseph pulled Hayden back and motioned for him to be quiet, “Mr. Bruke, do you mind if we take a look around your house?”

“Feel free to do so, there’s nothing valuable here.”

“I’m just a little curious, as I’ve never been in a place like this, may I come in?”.

Before Dante knew it, Joseph had already taken a big step inside his house.

“Who lets you into my house?”.

Dante chased after him with such fury that he kicked the broken chair by the door.

Joseph just crossed the threshold and stood in the doorway of the house, but Dante blocked his way, spreading his arms like a cracked black eagle.

Seeing the scene, Hayden was so frightened that he thought the two men were going to fight and made it his business to get between the two. “I’m sorry, Mr. Bruke, we didn’t mean to. We’ll get out now…”

In the gloom, Hayden spotted something on the table as he took a quick glance around the house.

There were design sketches scattered all over the table, white or yellow drawing papers that were colored, as well as all sorts of other designs. Although none of the items resembled the current styles of the big box stores, the designs were so outstanding that people would remember them at a glance.

At first, Hayden didn’t quite believe Alayna, who said he was a genius, but now it seemed she was right.

Having lived in such a remote location for five years, his designs were untouched by the consumer trends that consumers preferred and were invariably fresh even unconventional.

“Mr. Bruke, you designed this…”. Hayden raised his head in surprise.

His eyes were so sincere in their admiration that they actually suppressed Dante’s ill humor. He frowned and said in a gravelly voice.

“It has nothing to do with you. You can go now.”

“If you’re hurt because the boss of your previous company did things in a style that made you unhappy, I can assure you that my company will not do something like that. We won’t plagiarize other people’s work, and you can design your work in any style you want without anyone interfering.”

Hayden spoke in a sincere tone. Alayna had told him that Dante had left the design industry because his previous boss had focused more on the business side and ended up having a problem with his clothes, which caused the entire company to blame the designer for the sales failure. So he became discouraged and quit working as a designer.

“It’s not necessary.” Dante said coldly, “Your company is not a charity, and the designer is not a dreamer. There is always a gulf between ideal and reality. One will stand, one will fall, so there is no need for that.”

After finishing his words, he turned around and tidied up the design drafts on the table, “You can go now.”

It seemed that Dante would not be persuaded by her and was unwavering.

Hayden was depressed.

Joseph gave her a sidelong glance and frowned. He said to the man of the house in a loud voice, “What if I told you that you could go on with your old life here, and that your life would hardly change, except that you needed to give us your designs from time to time?”

“I don’t have to bring trouble into my life.” They were not surprised to hear his answer.

“Come on.” Hayden tugged on Joseph’s sleeve.

She wasn’t the type of person who liked to force things on people either. Dante obviously didn’t want to get involved in these matters anymore, so there was no point in forcing it any further.

Joseph reached back and held his hand out, blocking the entrance like a statue, “Of course, if Mr. Bruke doesn’t agree, I’ll waste this trip. I plan to turn this town into a tourist area.”

Hearing Joseph’s words, Dante stopped sorting through his drafts. After confirming that Joseph wasn’t joking, his face suddenly turned grim.

“You are well prepared. The grocery store owner, Tom told you, didn’t he?”.

Hayden blanched, how could Joseph threaten him like that? There had to be friendly relations between the two parties, even if they didn’t get to close a deal.

“For a nobody like me, you’re really willing to go a long way.” Dante smiled coldly and slammed down the stack of sketches in his hand, “But what I hate most is being threatened.”

He stopped talking for a moment.

“You can go ahead and turn the city into a tourist area, and I can get out of here before the development is complete. There are plenty of quiet places to live, not just Sea View.”

Hayden felt she was in a tough spot and Joseph got her in trouble.

She wanted to smile and say something nice, but before she could open her mouth, Joseph said something first.

“My company is doing a resort construction project, and coincidentally, Sea View is a strategic location in terms of geography. As president of the group, there is no reason not to do it when I see before me such a great opportunity to make money. However, for your information, this matter has nothing to do with her. She and I are not in the same company.”

Joseph looked at Hayden, showing a slight smile in his eyes.

“My original intention was to give up the development of this place for her sake if you would agree to work for her as a designer, but you don’t seem to appreciate that, Mr. Bruke.”

Dante clenched his fist, “Why do you have so much nerve to say such words?”

“You’ve worked in N-City. If you haven’t heard of me, you should have heard of the ST Group, right?”. Joseph looked at him and smiled faintly, “Introducing myself formally, my name is Joseph Beckham.”

Hayden was very disgruntled to see Joseph abusing his power and bullying him. After gritting his teeth and holding on for half a day, he finally couldn’t bear to kick him and scolded him when he was growling loudly.

“Joseph, are you finished with this? This is my company’s business and you have no business meddling. I’m not going back to work at ST Group even after you’ve done it.”

Joseph had asked her if she wanted to go back to work at the ST Hotel and she had already turned him down.

She hadn’t expected the man to use such an offensive tactic to prevent her from hiring a talented worker. He had no scruples.

Dante felt very embarrassed.

No one would feel good being humiliated like that in his home.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Bruke. I apologize for the inconvenience I have caused you. I’ll take this psycho with me right now.”

Hayden tugged fiercely on Joseph’s sleeve before finishing his words.

“Let’s go now.”

“Wait.” They heard his voice from behind his back.
