âSis, do you know him?â Freddie had a wary look on his face.
âSister?â Clevelandâs eyes were full of mockery.
Hayden sighed helplessly, âFreddie, youâve blown the lid off everything.â
She told Cleveland she had a fiancé, but didnât tell him who it was. When Freddie called her âsister,â their relationship was instantly exposed. It wasnât his fault.
He was still too glib.
âYou guys talk, Iâll go over there with Alayna.â
Hayden touched his nose awkwardly and pushed Alayna away.
In broad daylight, there was no way Cleveland would do anything to Freddie. It was just that she and Alayna felt very uncomfortable staying here. It was more convenient for them to escape immediately.
When Hayden left, Freddie looked at Cleveland with distaste and also intended to leave.
âDonât you want to know how Hayden and I met?â
âNo.â
âWhich do you think is more unacceptable, that someone you detest is your boyfriend or that heâs your brother-in-law?â
âWhat do you mean?â Freddie paused and when he turned his head, he saw the picture inside Clevelandâs phone.
His gaze instantly became alert. He grabbed Clevelandâs collar and lowered his voice, saying, âIâm warning you, stay away from Hayden. Donât blame me for being rude.â
âOh?â Cleveland merely let her grab him by the collar and didnât struggle. His gold-rimmed glasses reflected a cold light and he said thoughtfully.
âIâd like to know how youâre going to be impolite.â
Freddie was furious.
âIâll expose the news that youâre a homosexual pervert and by then, the media and reporters will definitely run the story. Donât forget that you have an ex-wife and children. Being gay, your behavior of tricking a woman to marry you is immoral. After the exposure of this news, do you think your company will be all right?â
âBefore the news gets out, I will give up the CEO position to my little brother.â
Cleveland looked at the teenager in front of him like a wolf at a small rabbit. He was actually relaxed.
âAnd after you expose this, I will take the opportunity to announce your relationship with me as mistress. Then you can retire next to me.â
Your next adventure is at g al n ovels . con âYouâre lying.â Freddieâs face instantly turned blue, âWho the hell are you calling lover?â
âI really like watching you say vulgar words to insult people.â Clevelandâs lips curled up and he smiled like a civilized degenerate.
Freddie was so angry his blood boiled, he couldnât say a word to refute him.
âIf youâll calm down, how about listening to me for a moment?â Cleveland reached out a hand and patted his shoulder, âI wonât touch Hayden, but you have to make peace with me.â
âIâm a regular guy.â
Freddie quickly pulled his hand away and took two steps back. He was full of wariness. âWhat you have in your mind is absolutely impossible.â
âIâm a normal man, too.â Cleveland shrugged his shoulders. Such a petulant action showed surprisingly some lazy sense of elegance. âThat day was an accident, I was drunk.â
Freddie eyed him suspiciously, âIf I remember correctly, you only drank half a glass of red wine that day.â
He politely sent him home, but he took advantage of him. Every time Freddie thought about it, his head hurt.
Thinking of Haydenâs safety, he took a deep breath, âWell, I can promise Iâll get along with you as a friend, but donât go near Hayden again.â
âI have no shortage of friends.â Cleveland looked at him with a smirk, âYouâre clear on the purpose of me getting along with you. You want to turn a blind eye, but I donât want to.â
The business world was all very complicated. When it came to relationships, he was used to getting straight to the point and didnât like to cover up.
âSo, what do you want?â Freddie gritted his teeth and his face swelled with anger.
âGo out with me like a normal lover.â
âYouâ¦â
âThereâs no other choice.â Cleveland took a glass of wine from a passing waiter. He turned and walked toward Hayden, leaving a few words.
âHayden must have recently broken up with Joseph. Itâs too much of a coincidence that my younger sister also has a little relationship with Joseph. As long as I help a little, itâs not strange to change the subject of a romantic relationship. Iâll give you tonight to consider it, tell me the answer by the end of the banquet.â
Freddie was trembling with rage at the very spot where he stood. He couldnât stop himself and just watched Cleveland stride toward Hayden. When he turned around, he saw a familiar figure in the doorway to the banquet hall.
It was Joseph.
In full view of everyone, he and Addison entered side by side. Addison linked his arm with hers and they seemed a perfectly matched pair.
Freddie frowned and unconsciously glanced at Hayden. He felt slightly relieved.
Fortunately, Hayden was talking to Cleveland so he didnât notice Josephâs presence.
He was half relieved, but felt choked up again.
Cleveland was, indeed, gay. He cheated on his ex-wife to have a child and now he wanted to cheat on Hayden? He had no shame.
âJoseph, my older brother said he wants to enjoy drinking with you. He hasnât seen you in days.â Addison snuggled up next to Joseph and her tone was intimate.
Joseph, however, was a bit distracted. Not long after entering the lobby, he saw Hayden and Cleveland standing next to each other. His footsteps stopped instantly and he frowned.
Following the direction of Josephâs gaze, Addison also saw the scene. She revealed a puzzled look. âIsnât that Hayden, how did my older brother and herâ¦?â.
Mid-sentence, she suddenly smiled, âTo be frank, Miss Downey is the kind of woman my older brother would like.â
âIsnât your older brother married?â. Josephâs voice sounded beside her and his tone was one of obvious displeasure.
âDonât you know?â Addison looked up at him, âMy sister-in-law went to the U.S. after giving birth to my niece. They divorced five years ago, but kept it a secret. Even my parents found out recently and also urged my older brother to look for another partner.â
Joseph frowned even more. Seeing Cleveland next to Hayden talking and laughing, his heart suddenly had a huge burden that made him suffocate.
He thought that after leaving for a week to take a break, she wouldnât be angry anymore, but he really didnât expect her to be so capable of finding someone else in the blink of an eye. Seeing the look on her face, she surprisingly didnât even care about the previous matter and, on the contrary, was very happyâ¦.
âJoseph, my second oldest brother is here.â Addisonâs reminiscent voice sounded behind him.
âI have something to do, letâs talk about it later.â
Joseph stuck out his hand and directly walked away, leaving Addison behind.
Looking in the direction he went, Addison bit her lips and her eyes darkened.
After taking a few steps, Joseph was stopped by a figure emerging from the crowd. It was Addisonâs mother.
âJoseph, youâre here at last, my husband has been waiting for you for a long time.â
ââ¦â.
The word âJosephâ sounded not far away. Hayden unconsciously looked in the direction where the voice came from, where he saw that an elegant and attractive woman was talking to Joseph. She was very intimate and passionate.
Simultaneously, Clevelandâs voice without fluctuation sounded next to him.
âItâs my mother. By the way, you may not know this yet. My mother and Joseph are very close, theyâre basically as close as a mother and son.â
Haydenâs smile gradually froze and stiffened.
