“Keep an eye on this guy and keep digging to see who the mastermind behind him is, or see who he helps do these things and who he takes orders from, as well as what he’s done.”

“Agreed.” Magnus nodded, “By the way, Mr. Beckham, Miss Downey’s flight leaves today. She should be arriving at the airport in the afternoon, are you going to pick her up?”.

Joseph frowned. “No need, I’m going to the hospital tonight to see Addison.”

Magnus froze for a moment and sighed quietly in his mind. He suddenly felt slightly sorry for Hayden.

She had become the scapegoat for nothing because of the fire and now, the investigation was almost over. It was certain that she had nothing to do with the accident and it was also certain that she didn’t know there was anyone else at the scene. But, Joseph’s heart no longer seemed to be with her.

“Mr. Beckham, there is a lot of gossip about Miss Downey at the hotel recently, should we check it out?”.

Most people thought Hayden and Joseph were over. There was a wide variety of gossip and, of course, being an employee, they didn’t dare say what was right or wrong about the boss. So Hayden became their target.

When Magnus went to the ST Hotel to run an errand, he personally overheard Hayden’s subordinate employees arguing.

“Time will reveal all things. I really haven’t seen a stepmother sincerely treat someone else’s child with kindness. At the most critical moment, her own daughter is still the most important thing. It’s good that Mr. Beckham found out so soon, I think Hayden has worked hard, but in vain.”

“Yes, it’s all done for Mr. Beckham to see.”

“…”.

It was clear that she had not yet resigned and was only temporarily suspended from her duties, which was a delaying tactic used by Joseph to keep Hayden from leaving, but it had been misconstrued to that extent. Magnus was concerned that, if these words reached Hayden’s ears, an irreparable contradiction would again occur.

A clear, cold voice reached Magnus’ ears.

“Let them talk, you needn’t bother.”

His tone was indifferent. Hearing these words, Magnus sighed silently in his mind.

…

It was already dark when the plane landed. Hayden pulled out his suitcase and exited the baggage carousel. Many people were waiting outside the airport. After looking around, he saw Alayna’s car.

“Where’s Stella?” Since Hayden didn’t see his daughter, he quickly asked.

“She’s at home, she should be sleeping right now.” Alayna helped him put the suitcase in the trunk of the car and then winked at him.

“Instead of Stella, I think you should get in the car first and see who came.”

Puzzled, Hayden opened the car door and saw a face in sunglasses smiling at her while revealing white teeth, “Sister.”

“Freddie?” Hayden was surprised and delighted. He hurried into the car and closed the door, “How come you came all the way out here, are you done with the variety show?”

“It’s temporarily over. I’ve been having trouble lately.” Freddie leaned on his shoulder and rubbed lightly, “So I wanted to come see you, to lay low until it was all over.”

“Hey, let me tell you up front.” Alayna’s voice sounded from the front, “You can lay low until it’s all over, but please find another place. If you attract reporters again, do you think we’ll still be able to go home?”

“There won’t be any reporters this time.” Freddie frowned, he seemed to be having trouble speaking, “Anyway, it’s a bit of a problem and it’s not reliable for me to meet others, so only Hayden can help me.”

“What is it about?” Hayden gave him a worried look.

“It’s the same crap that always happens in the entertainment industry.” Freddie was a little annoyed and even showed a look of disgust, “Half a month ago, my agent took me to a dinner with the investor of the new drama. The investor kept touching me here and there, I felt really disgusted.”

“That’s a good thing!” Alayna laughed unkindly, “Isn’t she a woman who can make you her kept? Why don’t you secretly accept and enjoy it, you can shorten the years of effort.”

“Would you have such a big reaction if the person is a rich woman?”. Freddie’s face turned blue: “It’s a man.”

Instantly, the space in the car went silent.

After a few seconds, they burst into laughter.

Freddie looked at Alayna and Hayden, who wouldn’t stop laughing, and said angrily, “How can you two keep laughing? If now a woman says she’s in love with you guys wouldn’t it make you sick?”.

“I’ve been telling Hayden that you have a tendency to turn homosexual, but he doesn’t believe me. See, it looks like what I’ve been saying is true.”

“Uh, I don’t, I’m straight, I…”.

“If a person is homophobic, they must be hiding that they are actually gay.”

“This time I believe it.” Hayden also agreed.

Freddie was so angry that his face turned blue and red. “I’m looking for them to help me, but they keep making snide comments. I want to get out of the car.”

“Fine, fine.” Hayden tugged at him and finally stopped laughing, “We’re just playing with you, don’t take it seriously. Tell us, how do you want us to help you?”.

“There’s a party two days and the pervert has invited me. One of you will go with me and say she is my girlfriend. It will be enough for me to know that my sexual orientation is normal.”

“Just like that?”

“Yes.”

At Freddie’s glib look, Hayden and Alayna glanced at each other in the rearview mirror.

Indeed, he was still too young. Did he think others would give up after telling him about his sexual orientation? In the entertainment industry, many straight men became gay.

“I’m not going.” Hayden refused outright: “This matter is not so simple. I think you should first delay it, when you really go to marry a woman, that person will not bother you anymore.”

“You really don’t want to go?” Freddie raised his eyebrows, “I hear you’ve been having a war with Joseph’s ex-girlfriend lately? What if I told you that pervert is Addison’s older brother?”

Hayden was stunned.

It was a small world indeed. Addison stole his man and his big brother stole his little brother. What the hell were all these things?

The party to which Freddie had warmly invited Hayden and Alayna was the banquet for Addison’s second oldest brother’s son. Many people were in attendance, including socialites, celebrities, and all sorts of other people.

Hayden entered the venue on Freddie’s arm. She wore a discreet black Hepburn dress, which revealed her beautiful slender neck like a piece of impeccable white jade.

Alayna arrived next to them. She looked around.

“Oh, this occasion is quite grand. Freddie, I think you should agree to the man’s request. I heard that he controlled the whole group. If you marry him, you’ll be the wife of the boss of the group.”

“The boss’s wife?” Freddie’s face turned blue, “Alayna, stop it. I’ve told you many times, I’m straight.”

“All right, all right. You’re straight, you’re straighter than steel.”

Alayna teased him matter-of-factly. Hearing this, Hayden felt helpless.

“She’s come.”

Her arm suddenly tensed. She lifted her head and looked over to where Freddie was looking and saw a figure in a black suit walking toward them. She was stunned and showed a slightly surprised look.

It was a small world indeed.

“Mr. Sanchez, this is my girlfriend.” Freddie introduced her like this.

“Is she?” Cleveland had some mocking intent in his eyes. He looked at Hayden and said, “Miss Downey, we meet again.”

“How do you know her last name is Downey?” Freddie frowned, stared at Cleveland and said.

“You know them?”

“Something more intimate than just knowing each other.” Cleveland looked at Freddie.

“After all, Miss Downey tells me she already has a fiancé.”
