When Hayden saw Joseph’s cold stare, he felt as if a knife had pierced his heart. At that moment, the pain was so unbearable that he could barely utter a word.

“What are you saying?” She couldn’t believe her ears.

Even if she wasn’t Noah’s biological mother, she certainly wouldn’t leave him behind after seeing him at the scene of a dangerous fire, let alone that Noah was born to her. They were bound by blood.

Joseph was with a cold face. “You’re out of here. I’ll give you an answer in a few days. I will reconsider our relationship, the compensation I should give you will be enough.”

Plaff The distinct sound of a slap sounded in the hallway. Several nurses in the distance poked their heads out and looked sideways.

There was a faint imprint on the right side of Joseph’s face. He turned his head slightly and held this angle for a few seconds. Apparently dazed, it took him a while to regain presence of mind.

An angry frown showed on his forehead and showed an embarrassed face. He looked incredulously at the woman in front of him and, surprisingly, could not utter a word.

For the first time in his life, he felt beaten.

“I don’t need you to think about it. It’s over between us, Joseph.”

Hayden clenched her fists and almost dug her nails into her palm, as if that pain would keep her awake and rational to maintain what self-esteem she had left. She looked at the woman in the room and told Joseph word for word.

“You may be blind, but if your blindness harms Noah, I will certainly risk my life to fight with you.”

Countless doubts could be enumerated on the matter of Addison appearing at the hotel at such an opportune time to save Noah. But someone chose to close his eyes, turned a deaf ear and lost his rational sense where he could only see what was in front of him.

He was truly blind.

After uttering these words, Hayden left without looking back.

Sadness and anger mixed together creating an indescribable feeling in her. She then rushed back to the hotel for the second part of the meeting, and by the time it was over, it was already late. All the staff in the Public Relations Department were yawning from time to time.

“It’s finally over. It should be under control by next Monday.”

“By the way, the back kitchen needs to be renovated. Is it closed temporarily or should we do something else?”.

“Ms. Downey, what should we do next regarding the rear kitchen issue?”.

Someone asked about this matter. After asking several times, Hayden, who had been bending down to gather his things, finally became impatient. He placed the documents violently on the table and said coldly.

“Go ask Manager Duncan, this is not my hotel. I am not the Executive Manager, how come you guys keep asking me everything? I will resign next Monday and the handover paperwork will be done tomorrow.”

The crowd looked at each other. They were so shocked that they could not utter a word.

Jeff was bewildered. After hastily announcing the end of the meeting, he followed Hayden and continually asked, “Chief, what’s wrong with you? Why all of a sudden you want to quit, you’re kidding, right?”.

“Do I look like I’m kidding?”.

After returning to his own office, Hayden sat down in the office chair and his fingers moved quickly over the keyboard. Two large, clear words that doubled as titles appeared on the computer screen as if filled with anger: resignation request.

Was he really serious?

Jeff’s eyes widened and he was so startled that he didn’t dare ask again.

It wasn’t the first time Hayden had considered resigning. When she first found out about Noah’s relationship with her, she had intended to. At that time, if it wasn’t because the relationship between Joseph and her was decided, she wouldn’t have stayed working at ST Hotel.

Now, since Joseph said such words, what reason did she have to stay here?

It was late at night.

In the exclusive VIP room of the hospital….

Noah had already gone to bed. Addison was also set to rest in the continuous room.

Joseph was standing on the balcony. He didn’t feel any coolness even though the night wind was blowing in his face. On the contrary, he felt even more hot and frustrated.

He had returned from P-Town on the morning flight and had originally intended to go back to surprise Hayden. He knew that Harrison had asked her and the children to eat together at the mansion in the evening. But, as soon as she got off the plane, she saw the news that the ST Hotel had suffered a fire. Magnus also quickly received news from the hospital.

Overcome with fear and anxiety, he rushed quickly to the hospital, but when he arrived, he did not see Hayden. Instead, accompanying Noah was Addison. To save Noah, Addison burned his entire left arm, this was pain that an adult could hardly bear. Joseph dared not imagine what the consequences would be if that wound were on Noah’s body.

Hayden, however, came to the hospital only when it was nighttime as if nothing had happened.

He could not contain his anger, especially when he learned that Hayden only cared about saving his own daughter, even though Noah was also in the kitchen.

Behind him, Magnus opened the door and stepped out. He handed Joseph a pack of cigars and a lighter he had just bought.

Joseph had quit smoking a long time ago, but without knowing what the reason was, he suddenly asked him to go buy a pack of cigars.

A blue flame appeared in the air at the top of the lighter. Her slender fingers clutched the cigar and she slowly exhaled the smoke after taking a puff. His indifferent features gradually faded.

Magnus paused for a moment and said hesitantly.

“Mr. Beckham, I just got a call from the Director of the Personnel Department, saying that Miss Downey wants to resign.”

Joseph’s fingers clutching the cigar suddenly stiffened slightly. His brow furrowed sharply and his face grew even colder, “Do the paperwork for her.”

These words sounded cold, but if you listened carefully, they were actually laced with a lot of irritation.

Magnus carefully examined Joseph’s face.

“Mr. Beckham, I believe there are many things hidden about the fire. Perhaps it is not a lie that Miss Downey did not know little Noah was in the kitchen. Everyone saw Miss Downey carrying her daughter in her arms away from the scene of the fire. She went inside, but didn’t see anyone else inside, so how did Miss Sanchez know?”

Because Addison was injured, no one asked her about the fire. As for how she saved Noah, she didn’t mention it at all. People at the hotel also said that immediately after Hayden left, Addison ran into the kitchen and got Noah out in no time.

“Also, little Noah was found inside the freezer.”

Magnus once again reminded Joseph of the strangeness of this matter.

Since Noah was in the freezer, if Hayden didn’t know he was inside, it was impossible for him to find him. From this point of view, there was nothing wrong with Hayden’s words.

All the various doubts fell on Addison at once.

Joseph frowned hard and after a long moment, he spoke coldly. “Go and find out.”

“What then about the matter of Miss Downey’s resignation?”.

Joseph’s expression changed. Apparently dissatisfied with Magnus’ words, he glared at him with hatred and said impatiently.

“Tell the Personnel Department to find a way to delay it.”

Early the next morning…

After Hayden woke up in the hospital, he received a call from the Personnel Department.

“Ms. Downey, we still can’t approve your resignation request.”

“What, I can’t even resign.” Hayden had just woken up, so she was a little impatient, “According to company rules, isn’t a 15-day handoff period enough?”

“Originally it is, but this time, there is an accident involved. First, an internal investigation must be carried out to discover the cause. Not all resignations are accepted, we have to wait for the result of the investigation.”

“…”

“By the way, there is one more thing to tell you. You are suspended from your duties.”
