“I know you.” Addison stared for a moment at the woman in front of her. “Violet Kidman.”

She was one of Joseph’s few rumored girlfriends, one of the most stunning women. Plus, she was a public figure. It was hard not to know her. Before returning to N City, he thought Violet was his real rival, since, after all, she had stood by Joseph’s side for six years.

“I hope you don’t misunderstand me.” Violet seemed to have expected to be recognized. She was very calm.

Addison frowned and snapped at her directly, “What exactly are you trying to say? With your previous relationship with Joseph, I don’t find your words credible.”

“Let’s hope you can still say that after hearing what I have to say.” Violet lifted the corner of her eye slightly and her gaze seemed deep. “I’ve been with Joseph for over six years. Not long ago, we were already on the verge of getting married, even the hotel for our wedding ceremony had been booked. Did you know any of this?”

Addison looked at her and made a face of distaste.

“I thought you knew.” Violet’s look was even deeper, “But did you know the reason Joseph suddenly got cold feet and called off our wedding?”

“Because of Hayden?”

Hearing this, Violet smiled and looked dismissive, “You’ve known Joseph longer than I. Do you think he’d call off the wedding because of a woman he just met a few months ago?” She glared at Addison.

“It’s because of Noah.”

Addison clenched her fist tightly.

She knew Joseph had a son. After being married for over a year, she heard news that a new grandchild had joined the Beckham Family, but she couldn’t find out who the child’s birth mother was.

Over the years, she had also heard that Joseph spoiled his son Noah very much. He took him everywhere. Noah seemed to be very important to him.

“How important Noah is to Joseph, I think you should have heard. So, do you know that Noah is particularly fond of Hayden? That’s why Joseph has Hayden in mind to become the young Mrs. Beckham Family.”

“What are you trying to say?” Addison thought this woman wasn’t speaking plainly.

If Joseph was getting married, the relationship between his bride and his young son couldn’t be bad. Even if she didn’t hear anything, it wasn’t hard to parse her understanding of Joseph.

Violet slowly spat out six words that said it all.

“Blood is always thicker than water.”

“…”.

After parting on bad terms with Addison, in two days it would be the weekend. Hayden had already picked up his two children from the former Beckham Family mansion, but suddenly received a notice from the hotel to work overtime this weekend. Therefore, Hayden could only take his two children to the hotel.

He let the foreman take them to the children’s room as usual.

“I’ll come and take them to lunch during the lunch break at twelve noon. Try not to run and don’t follow anyone out of the hotel.”

“Okay mommy, you should go to work now. I’ll take care of Noah.” Stella’s voice echoed in the living room.

Hayden scrunched up his little face and warned, “Can you take care of Noah, it’s enough of you not causing trouble. Also, don’t encourage your brother to run with you, you hear me?”

“Ouch, it hurts.” Stella freed herself from Hayden’s grasp. She pursed her lips and sat on the couch unhappily, “Mommy, you almost disfigured my face.”

Hayden ignored her words. Compared to Stella’s mischievousness, who jumped around like a monkey, Noah was much more obedient. He stroked Noah’s head and said softly, “Take care of your sister and take care of yourself, too, okay?”

Noah nodded solemnly.

In fact, there was no one in the hotel who didn’t know Noah’s identity. Everyone watched carefully wherever he went, as they feared they would lose their jobs if Noah got hurt. Hayden wasn’t too worried as there was basically no sign of danger as long as these two guys didn’t leave the hotel.

When he got to the office and dropped his stuff off, Jeff knocked on the door.

“Chief, Manager Duncan notified of a meeting at nine-thirty.”

Hayden nodded, “Okay. Print out ten copies of this month’s customer complaint logs and get them over there.”

A lot had happened at the hotel in the past few months. The preparation for several major events had led to an increase in the number of temporary buildings. This caused dissatisfaction among some customers, the number of complaints had increased a lot compared to the previous time. This issue had been discussed at the meeting two days ago and Manager Duncan asked him to propose a compensation plan.

After organizing the information, Hayden headed to the conference room to attend the meeting.

He was wearing a delicately designed three-quarter sleeve suit, which gave him an executive look. The slide on the projector showed his solution to these major complaints and spoke about it concisely.

“Specifically, customers who have stayed at the hotel during the construction work can be compensated whether they came to complain or not. In addition, customers who have complained, we can give them an extra half year of free accommodation, the reason being that they have given us constructive advice. We should clearly explain this aspect when writing instructions or when docking with customer service. Let them not mistakenly think that we are bribing them to keep quiet, or it will backfire.”

The meeting lasted two hours, and when it was over it was almost lunchtime. Jeff held the documents in his hands and followed Hayden to ask him about the details. As soon as he reached the elevator, a loud alarm suddenly sounded in the hallway as the security lights on the wall flickered wildly….

With the alarm sounding throughout the hotel building, she looked tense. “Call the security department.”

Jeff immediately placed a call. After talking on the phone for a while, her face turned pale.

“What?”

“What’s wrong?” Hayden asked hurriedly.

Jeff quickly hung up the phone.

“Chief, I’ve been told the back kitchen caught fire. The fire control tool didn’t work. They’ve already called the fire department, but they don’t know when the fire truck would arrive.”

Hayden was dumbfounded and quickly responded, “Notify all foreman service personnel and evacuate immediately.”

“Okay, I’ll be right there.” Jeff ran out in a hurry.

Then, Hayden pushed the elevator button. She stood still for a few seconds before suddenly remembering that the two small children were still in the room.

She suddenly felt anxious and turned around to run for the stairs.

The nursery was empty.

“The little lord was taken to the bathroom by the foreman, but I didn’t see Stella.”

Hayden panicked. After asking several people, he had already reached the area of the conflict. Smoke from the back kitchen door surrounded many people, and there was a pile of used fire extinguishers scattered at their feet. Everyone seemed anxious and under pressure.

He learned along the way that the head cook, Arnold Bevis, soon to retire, was trapped in the kitchen.

“They’re coming out!”

Amid the thick smoke, a middle-aged man stumbled out with a white figure on his back. The people at the door rushed over to help, the middle-aged man was out of breath and said, “Hurry, there’s still a child inside. She looks like Miss Downey’s daughter.”
