Chapter 166

The CEO’s little ones1,331 words~7 min read

The implication of Joseph’s words was that the covenant was a matter decided by the elders while he was still a child. The elders did not ask for his agreement at all.

Hayden pursed his lips and deliberately teased him, “Come on. With that temper of yours, don’t say that even though you were only ten years old at the time, no one will be able to force you if you don’t agree. No matter how you say it, you actually liked that childhood friend of yours.”

“Do you want to hear the truth?”

Joseph looked intently at Hayden who startled her.

Did he really like her?

“It’s not what you think.” Joseph smacked her head helplessly.

She snorted and covered her face in dissatisfaction, “Say what you want, why did you hit me?”

Joseph’s indifferent face seemed somewhat warm. He was silent for a few seconds, as if thinking how to put his thoughts into words.

“My father always wanted a daughter, but he couldn’t get one. Hence he considered Addison his own daughter for quite some time.”

Hayden was slightly startled. It wasn’t the first time Joseph had taken the initiative to talk to him about his parents, but this time he seemed especially calmer.

“My mother was an artist who held only her dreams in her heart. She often took her drawing board with her and left home for a few months. My existence had no impact on her life. Other than glancing at me when she came home after she finished painting, we rarely had a chance to see each other. That lasted for many years.

Joseph’s voice echoed slowly in the darkened room. He sounded extremely calm, as if he was telling her about a matter that had nothing to do with him.

Based on what he said, Hayden could only imagine Addison’s relationship with the Beckham Family.

Joseph’s parents had always spent more time apart than together. His mother was always abroad and his father constantly busy with work, hence Joseph was in the care of his grandfather and the Beckham Family housekeeper from a young age. Mr. Beckham had a bad temper and had always been strict in the upbringing of the children. Even though Joseph was still a child, he would not allow him to slack off in any area. Over time, Joseph became a loner and had a strange character among his peers.

When Joseph got a little older, his father thought it was not appropriate for him to be this way, so he took Joseph back to his side. His father would take him to gatherings among his peers, hoping that he could integrate into this social circle and make friends.

There were many children in the Sanchez Family. The family’s two sons were about the same age as Joseph. In addition, the Sanchez Family also had a daughter who had just started walking. Joseph was sent there by his father for the entire summer vacation. When his father went to pick him up after that, he didn’t get to get acquainted with the Sanchez Family children, but he did meet two friends there.

One of them was the crazy guy who got him admitted to the hospital for a week, Kevin. His other friend was the Sanchez Family child who couldn’t even speak clearly, Addison.

He became friends with Kevin through a fight. As for Addison, it was because summer vacation there was really boring. The two Sanchez Family children were extremely introverted, so they didn’t want to play with him. He was also very happy about it and was left alone in the corner. Only a little girl who had just learned to walk would stumble over to him. She would hold the corner of his shirt and give him a storybook, forcing him to tell her a story.

G a lno v els .com is packed with thrilling adventures “I read stories to him all summer vacation, and his mother told it to my father afterwards. After that, every summer vacation, my father would bring Addison to my house and let her stay for some time. My father treated her like his own daughter, I assumed he was trying to insinuate my mother into having another child with him.”

So, from an outsider’s point of view, this relationship that formed in her childhood was not what it seemed. It carried the weight of his father’s selfish motive. His original intention was not to find a wife for Joseph, he just wanted a daughter. His father used such a tactful and gentle method to insinuate his mother.

Hayden was dumbfounded, “Your father made a big deal out of it. If he wanted a daughter, why didn’t he tell your mother directly? Maybe…”

Before she could finish her words, she closed her mouth and swallowed the second half of the sentence in her throat. They were his parents, after all.

It wasn’t appropriate to talk nonsense like that.

Joseph’s voice echoed in her ear and his tone sounded complicated, “As far as I remember, my parents had always slept in separate rooms.”

Hearing this, Hayden’s heart pounded inexplicably, “I’m sorry.”

“What are you sorry for?” Joseph lifted the blanket and draped it over his shoulder. Then he picked up the topic of conversation, “I’ve said all I need to say. Addison is just a sister to me, there’s no other possibility than that.”

“I know. You don’t have to keep emphasizing it.” Hayden’s face suddenly felt a little hot.

From the beginning, ever since he’d started talking about the past, Joseph had been emphasizing that he was only treating Addison like a sister, as if he was afraid he might be unreasonable if he said too much.

“Do you have anything else to ask me?” A mocking voice sounded in her ear.

Hayden said angrily, “What, me question you? It was you who said all that.”

Joseph raised his eyebrows and suddenly leaned closer to her ear. “To be honest, you look a lot cuter when you’re jealous.”

Hayden felt a flame burning from his ear all the way down his body.

Another passionate night passed.

When Hayden departed back to N City the next day, Joseph deliberately postponed the meeting to take her to the airport.

“Addison had been spoiled from a young age. I wouldn’t be surprised if she did something out of the ordinary.”

“I know. She’s your sister, so I’ll cut her some slack.”

“You don’t have to.” Joseph raised his hand to brush her hair next to her ear, “I mean, if she really does something out of line, you don’t have to put up with her and suffer.”

Hearing this, Hayden was taken aback and put on a shocked expression. “Didn’t you say she was your sister?”.

“She already has two blood brothers, it doesn’t matter if I’m her brother or not.” Joseph’s hand slipped by her ear and he clasped her in his arms. He murmured, “Then don’t worry.”

The last thing he was worrying about was extinguished at that moment by the sound of an airplane engine at the airport.

Hayden wrapped her arms around his waist as she acted like a spoiled child and said, “How can my fiancé be such a good man?”

Joseph replied seriously, “He’s engaged.”

On their flight back to N City, Hayden had clearly understood this matter.

There was no doubt in Addison’s intention to return here. She believed that Joseph might also know this, but it seemed that he had not yet answered her, or that Addison had already been turned away in the bathroom when she fled in haste and missed the second half of the conversation.

So, this GS Group president definitely wouldn’t let her off easy.

After all, she already knew when they met that Addison was not a white bunny. It was impossible for her to believe in the delicate behavior she portrayed in front of Joseph.
