As Hayden wanted to call her father, she was stunned to see that her father had just called a nurse.
âHow long did I sleep?â
Bentley sat up from the bed and leaned against the box spring as if he wanted to get out of bed.
Hayden rushed to support him, but he pushed her away, âItâs okay, I can do it myself.â
With that, he climbed off the bed by himself and reached for his shoes. Then, he reached his hands to the end of the bed and slowly walked to the balcony, âIs the weather nice today?â.
As he walked to the balcony, Hayden rushed over to help him open the door.

As he said that, he suddenly tripped over a chair.
âDad!â Hayden exclaimed.
Bentley managed to steady himself with difficulty. He turned around in surprise to look at Hayden.
âHayden?â He was stunned, but suddenly felt dizzy.
Hayden quickly stepped forward to support him, âItâs me, Dad. Why didnât you say anything to me on the phone?â
Bentley was surprised, but he also felt joy: âCome, sit down. What do I have to tell you? Itâs normal to get sick as you get older. My condition is much better than others. Nothing hurts or itches, I just feel some discomfort sometimes. Itâs no big deal.
Hayden felt even more uncomfortable hearing Bentleyâs words.
âWhy did you move into this residence? Hasnât anyone at home come by who can see you?â
âSofia is busy with company business, and Chelsea is getting married soon. They come to visit me from time to time. By the way, did Chelsea send you her wedding invitation?â
Hayden hesitated for a moment, âYes.â
He did hear about Chelseaâs wedding, and Alayna was the one who told him. She had a lot of friends. Most of them had already received Chelseaâs invitation, but she as Chelseaâs sister did not receive any invitation from her at all.
However, Bentley was still sick. She didnât want him to be upset, so she lied to him.
âChelsea had been spoiled by her mother from a young age. I knew she had a bad temper and played pranks on you, but she was your sister after all. Youâll be there for my sake, wonât you?â
âI will.â
âGlad to hear it.â Bentley nodded happily and took Haydenâs hand, âI know you didnât like Chelsea and her mother, but you always tried not to fuss over them for my sake. Youâre a sensible girl, just like your mother.â
âDo you still remember my mother?â.
âOf course, how could I forget her.â Bentley seemed to have been thinking about the past as he looked up at the sky. He felt many emotions welling up in his mind and his voice was hoarse, as if filled with guilt and regret, âI still donât know how I should face your mother when I die.â
Hayden sat beside him, but did not comfort him, for he knew better than to say anything at that moment.
Hayden accompanied his father to the nursing home all afternoon. When he arrived home, he only felt that the house was empty, like a huge box without any warmth.
At that moment, Bentley thought he had found his true love and decided to give up his wife, who started a business with him from scratch, but now there was no one by his side. The children meant nothing, the childrenâs thinking had never been in the same parallel space as their parents. Only your lifelong partner could stay by your side forever, but it was really hard to find a soul mate to suit you.
Had she found the one for her?
Haydenâs heart pounded at the thought. After sitting in the dark for a long time, she suddenly realized something and quickly pulled out her phone to book a plane ticket. Then she went downstairs with her suitcase and directly took a cab to the airport.
â¦
The heat of P-town was incomparable to that of N-town, and so was the prosperity here.
The sky was completely dark when Hayden got off the plane. He felt very hot as he left the airport, but fortunately it was already dark.
âSir, please take me to the ST Hotel.â
Joseph almost always stayed at his own hotel when he went on a business trip.
âOkay.â
It was already twelve oâclock in the morning when the meeting ended. Joseph was surrounded by his subordinates as he walked out of the meeting room. He exhorted Magnus about the contents of the meeting in the hallway and Magnus wrote down the contract modifications beside him.
âThe terms you raise are acceptable, but donât make it sound like we can easily accept themâ¦â.
âYes, I understand. I will contact them again tomorrow morning to tell them that it is difficult for us to accept their new terms.â
âAgreed.â
Joseph suddenly stopped his footsteps in the hallway and the three people behind him stopped as well. After glancing at each other, they looked in the direction of Josephâs gaze.
Magnus was startled to see the figure standing in the doorway of the hotel suite. âMiss Downeyâ¦â.
âUmm, Iâll take them to another suite, Mr. Beckham.â Magnus quickly recovered from his surprise and left with the other two attendants.
There were only two people left staring at each other in the long hallway.
Joseph walked toward her. He couldnât disguise the surprise in his eyes and asked, âWhy are you here?â
Hayden took a deep breath and rushed into his arms.
Although they didnât speak, such an action was far more meaningful than all the sweet talk, not to mention she lifted her head and kissed his lips directly.
Her initiative was quickly snatched away by Joseph as he passively pushed her against the wall.
Joseph pulled the card out of his room and scanned it at the door.
As they entered, the sound of her moaning and the rustle of her clothes echoed through the spacious suite. Their clothes mingled and they sprawled across the floor from the door to the couch.
After their passionate moment, the moon hung outside the window.
Hayden leaned back on her arm as the blush on her face slowly faded. She sighed, âI went to see my father this afternoon. My father was in a nursing home. It seems my familyâs entire business was passed on to my sister and stepmother, and they donât go to the hospital to visit him. My father told me he missed my mother.â
âSo, you came to see me?â
Joseph stroked the messy hair on her forehead and hugged her into a more comfortable position. She closed her eyes as she listened to him.
Hayden didnât answer him directly, but continued, âAlthough I had no impression of my mother, my grandfather and uncle told me she was an indifferent and proud woman. She had a strong temper, so she buried all her emotions deep in her heart without pouring them out to anyone. Before my father met Sofia, they already had problems in their marriage. They rarely communicated.â
After saying that, Hayden tried to look at Joseph. She saw his stiff chin and slightly narrowed eyes that looked seductive.
She swallowed saliva, unsure if Joseph had understood the meaning behind her words.
âMy father was very fond of Addison before he passed away, but I was only thirteen at the time. Addison wasnât even ten. Our parents joked about getting engaged, but neither of them took it seriously. Later, something happened in my family and my grandfather considered it my fatherâs dying wish. No one asked me if I wanted to.â
Joseph lowered his head and looked at her with a hint of mockery in his eyes, âDo you have anything else to ask?â
