Chapter 158

The CEO’s little ones849 words~5 min read

“Benjamin, this octopus is delicious, I bought them this morning. Try it.”

“Thank you, Miss Alayna.” Nodding ‘obediently’, Benjamin held out his bowl, “I can take it myself.”

Alayna played coy with much exaggeration. “Don’t call me Miss, I’m only a few years older than you, just call me Alayna.”

Kevin was totally horrified at the scene. After a while, he couldn’t take it anymore and asked with hostility, “Did she really lose her memory? Even if it’s true, why didn’t she get a job instead of coming here for free food?”.

“Why do you care?” Alayna rolled her eyes at him, “Speaking of coming here for free food, I don’t think anyone invited you here today.”

“Alayna, you…”.

“Stop it.” Alayna raised her hand, “I don’t want to fight with you today, Mr. Jackman. Shut up if you want to stay at this table.”

Kevin was furious and was about to debate when Hayden relented.

“This is a misunderstanding, no one is here for free food. I invited Benjamin to thank him for helping me with the fake news incident last time. And I invited Kevin because he was with Joseph when I called him.”

This reminded Kevin, who an hour ago was picking out wedding rings. At this moment he was watching Alayna flirting shamelessly with another man in front of him. The rage inside him.

“The baked chicken wings should be ready. Let me go take a look.” Benjamin said suddenly.

Then he left with an innocent expression, as if he had no idea what was going on in the room.

“I’ll go with you.” Alayna followed him.

After a few seconds, Kevin crashed his utensils on the table and followed her as well.

Only Hayden and Joseph were left at the table staring at each other.

“Will he be okay?” Hayden was a little nervous.

“Who do you worry about?”

“Of course I worry about Benjamin.” Hayden said in a way as if it were obvious, “Didn’t you see that Kevin looks like he wants to devour Benjamin?”

“I don’t think Benjamin would lose if they actually started a fight.”

“Really? Benjamin doesn’t look like he knows how to fight, he’s still just a kid.”

Disgusted, Joseph frowned at hearing that. It seemed he wasn’t happy with the term ‘child’. Women sometimes blinded by their maternal nature and couldn’t see the truth.

The truth was that Benjamin was a well built guy with a height of about 185cm. He would obviously have a huge advantage in a fight against Kevin, who only had the looks but not the muscles.

However, Benjamin had an innocent and friendly face that made women fall in love with him.

Joseph shook his head helplessly looking at Hayden’s worried look.

For the rest of the meal, Hayden had to play mediator between Kevin and Alayna. It took them a full hour to finish their meal, and they had argued the entire hour. Finally, they said they had to talk about it somewhere else and left. Only then did the house fall silent.

It was already midnight. With everyone gone, and the two children sent to Harrison’s, Hayden and Joseph were the only two people in the house.

As Hayden cleared the table and put the dishes in the sink, someone hugged her from behind.

“Stop it!” Hayden exclaimed. Her waist was very ticklish. She was always afraid to have her waist touched, especially Joseph.

But Joseph just hugged her and didn’t make much movement. He rested his chin on her shoulder and said in a deep voice, “It’s late now.”

“You can go to sleep if you’re tired.” Hayden knew what she was thinking. She blushed and uttered, “I have dishes to do.”

Her soft voice was like a stream of water flowing down Joseph’s body….

“You can do it tomorrow.”

“I have to go to work tomorrow.”

“Let me do the dishes.”

…

He had always been rational, even as a child, which was why he always appeared more mature than his peers. This meant that he was not favored by adults and could not mix with his peers. His emotional life was minimal, especially in adulthood. Even to his grandfather, he professed only reverence, but no affection.

He never thought marriage was something to pursue in his life because of his parents’ situation.

With that thought, he had the conviction not to marry at all. Even when his grandfather forced him to marry for the sake of his career, the one thing that mattered most to him, he resisted in extreme ways.

There was no other time like now when he was sure he could fall in love with someone. He felt that the woman in his arms was the only person who could be his companion for the rest of his life.

If what his grandfather said was true, that one must choose a person to spend one’s whole life with, he was sure that Hayden was the only choice he had if he could make the choice of his own free will.
