“Cut the crap. Benjamin hasn’t graduated yet and he still doesn’t remember his past. He may already have a girlfriend.”

Hayden knew Alayna’s behavior well. Once she started paying attention to an adult male, she was probably thinking about him.

Kevin might be a lying player, but if they had to compare, they were on the same level.

“Why are you acting like my mother?” Alayna glared at her, “I was asking you, why do you look like someone’s going to steal something of yours?”

“You look like a pig.”

“Who do you mean? You’re the pig.” Alayna threw a pillow at her, “Is it wrong to look at pretty boys? What’s wrong with you lusting after a young man’s body?”

“Forget it, you think I don’t know you? You wouldn’t stand the test of time at all. You must have watched a Korean drama about a cradle robber’s romance. Come on, I think Kevin treats you very well, he listened to what you had to say.”

“He listens to all the women.”

At the mention of Kevin, Alayna immediately put on an offended expression. She looked away from the kitchen and said, “A leopard can’t change its spots.”

“What happened, did he mess with another woman again? I thought they were doing well lately.”

“Even if he doesn’t mess with them, it doesn’t mean that no one takes the initiative to approach him. He’s not an honest, clean-living man like Joseph. Did you really expect a womanizer like him to come out of the mud clean? Everyone is a grown-up now. Who doesn’t know how to live a quiet life? They just have to pretend they don’t see or hear anything.”

Hayden felt a little uncomfortable seeing how Alayna didn’t care about anything.

“Alayna, sometimes the past is in the past. We have to always look forward. You shouldn’t be afraid to have expectations towards the future. You shouldn’t keep it all to yourself and pretend that nothing matters to you. After all, those things would never happen again.”

Alayna clenched her fist tightly and felt tense, “It’s not that I can’t get over the past. You’ve seen my life back then. Other people’s future was in their hands, but mine was not. That’s where it comes from that I don’t see my future and give others too many expectations. I’ll be fine as long as I’m happy now.”

“Maybe it won’t happen again? You haven’t had a relapse in three years, have you?” Hayden took her hand in an instant, his hands were really cold, like there was no warmth at all.

“You said so too. It’s just a maybe.”

Alayna looked calm. Her sly eyes were full of too many stories at the moment. Only a few people in the world knew her past and it was a past that embarrassed her enough to affect the rest of her life.

After a long moment of silence, Hayden saw Kevin earnestly picking at the edible part of the vegetables in the kitchen. He turned to ask Alayna, “Are you going to tell him?”

Alayna shook her head and blinked, “Why tell him? Who knows if we’ll break up after dinner.”

Hayden sighed and felt sorry for her.

It didn’t take long for the stew to be ready.

Stella stopped feeling spicy food since she was three, so she could handle eating it without pábleme. Noah was different though, when he tasted a piece of meat he immediately got tears in his eyes.

Coff, coff…

The little guy was coughing a lot, so Hayden quickly gave him some water and finally got some relief from the itching. The little one refused to stay at the table, took a box of chocolates and went back to his room. Then Stella took two more bites and also followed him.

“Just like his father, this little boy can’t eat anything spicy.” Kevin scoffed, “When Joseph was a kid, he always seemed as stern as an old man and he didn’t like to talk to me either. One year, on April Fool’s Day, the friends he was playing with gave him a cookie with hot sauce on it. He obviously thought it was spicy, but he still acted like he could take it. After a while, it was lucky I found out and he was sent straight to the hospital emergency room.”

Alayna looked at him, “Why were you the one who found out?”

“Well…”. Kevin touched his nose, “Fate.”

“And already?” Hayden rudely thwarted his plan, “I heard that Joseph was hospitalized for two days because of it. Besides you went to visit them and cried every day, it must not have been just because of your friendship, right?”.

“Why did Joseph tell you this?”. Kevin was anxious.

“So, what happened?” Alayna asked curiously.

“Don’t ask.”

It was too late for Kevin.

Hayden told the truth straight out, “Because he was the one who put the hot sauce on the cracker. When Joseph was hospitalized, Kevin was beaten by his father every day and went to the hospital to apologize. As long as Joseph didn’t forgive him, his father kept hitting him. He went there to apologize for a week straight, but Joseph didn’t bother to say a word to him.”

“That’s so cruel.” Alayna let out a loud laugh.

“What?” Kevin wasn’t convinced, “That was because Joseph had a sore throat, so he couldn’t talk that week! I was immediately forgiven when he was able to speak again.”

“He wasn’t in a vegetative state, why couldn’t he talk?”. Alayna continued to shame him, “Look at Noah. He can’t talk either, but does it affect him expressing his words?”.

Kevin immediately became angry.

After everyone teased him for a moment, Benjamin suddenly asked why Noah couldn’t speak.

“Was Noah born like that?”

“No.” Hayden shook his head, “I was told that, when he was little, he had a high fever one day and after that he stopped talking. I don’t know much about the specific situation either.”

When Kevin had a chance to regain his image and answered immediately, “Noah was probably three years old when that happened and at that time he was still at Joseph’s grandfather’s house. I happened to go visit the old man to talk about something, but he wasn’t home. So I happened to stop by to see my nephew, I went over, but the babysitter wasn’t there. Noah was locked alone in the room and lying on the bed crying.”

“The babysitter wasn’t there? No one bothered to care that a child was crying so loudly?” Benjamin asked hurriedly.

“You’ve never been to the old Beckham Family mansion, so you wouldn’t know.” Kevin looked at him, “The mansion is very big. Noah didn’t stay in the same area as the old man. If I hadn’t gone to see him, no one would have noticed him.”

Hayden felt a slight ache in his heart. If Kevin hadn’t gone to check on him, Noah wouldn’t have been here now.

“But didn’t the Beckham Family take care of Noah? How could the babysitter have been so irresponsible?” Benjamin seemed to realize something and kept asking about the babysitter who was supposed to be taking care of Noah.

Hayden also recovered from his surprise and became suspicious.

He had just been to the old Beckham Family mansion. The whole mansion was full of servants, even the old man’s adopted daughter had two servants by her side. Judging by the old man’s love and attention for Noah, it was impossible that he only provided him with a nanny.

It was clear that something was wrong. Benjamin’s reminder made her feel uneasy.

If someone did this, then this person must really be familiar with the Beckham Family servant relief system. He would know when there were people around and when there were fewer people, he would be someone capable of bribing the nanny to make it look like neglect. This could not be done by ordinary people.

This person must be familiar with the old mansion. It could be someone from the Beckham Family.
