Joseph remained calm and calmly replied, “Yes.”

“All right then. I have some questions for you.” Scarlett didn’t look weaker than Joseph. She looked like a great warrior.

“Sure.”

Joseph now knew that the woman in front of her was a prestigious elder of Hayden’s family.

“Aunt, stop it. Joseph and I…” Hayden tried to stop his aunt. She gave Joseph the silent treatment, and they hadn’t spoken for a few days. What was wrong with her?

“Shall we talk over there?” Scarlett ignored her and headed toward the cemetery entrance with Joseph.

Scarlett calmly posed her questions after getting into the car with Joseph.

“First of all, who is the mother of your child? I need to know about future threats to Hayden if he marries you. It won’t be a quiet life if your ex-wife misses the child after all this time.”

“I’ve never been married and no ex-wife either.” Joseph was frank with Scarlett, answering smoothly, “About who Noah’s mother is, from what I can see, she only wants Hayden.”

Scarlett frowned. She could see Noah and Stella each taking a hand from Hayden. It seemed just what Joseph had told her.

“My second question-what would you do with your money and assets if you married Hayden?” The question was more direct than the first.

Joseph hesitated. He hadn’t given it much thought, but it wasn’t too late to do so now.

“Even if she married, Hayden wouldn’t want to be just a housewife. I have an advisor who manages my money and assets, I could transfer everything to Hayden’s account if she wants to help manage what I have.”

“What if you get divorced?”

“I would make sure she never has to worry about money.”

“People often say they wouldn’t divorce.” Scarlett looked at Joseph emotionlessly, “You’re already thinking about divorce before you even marry her? Don’t you dare think that Hayden didn’t have anyone to support her?”

“There are no guarantees in a relationship, I can’t guarantee my feelings. Even if I could, I can’t guarantee hers. So I can only guarantee what I can, the material elements.”

“…”.

Scarlett could see that the children were playing happily with Hayden when she looked out the window. The image seemed peaceful and harmonious. After all the questions Scarlett asked, Joseph also asked her a question at the end.

“If you care so much, why did you leave her with the Downey Family for all these years and never took care of her?”.

Scarlett thought Joseph already knew the answer before she said it. This young man in his thirties had a pair of wise eyes that could read people’s minds.

The fittest survived in the Law of the Jungle. Scarlett didn’t want Hayden to follow in his mother’s footsteps and grow up in a coddled environment. If Hayden did, she would grow up as a person who would run away if she encountered obstacles. This attitude would eventually kill her.
