âYes.â Hayden nodded, âStella, this is your great aunt.â
âStellaâ¦â Scarlett repeated Stellaâs name and glared at Hayden, âWhat great aunt, are you calling me old?â.
âWhat should I call you Stella then?â. Hayden felt uncomfortable.
Scarlett had left quite an impression on Hayden as a child. Her aunt was always mean, as far as Hayden could remember. Hayden was afraid of her growing up, if it wasnât for Haydenâs grandfather, Hayden would have been scared to death every time she met her aunt.
âItâs okay, it doesnât matter.â
gαâηÏνððsâ¤com is your gateway to fiction Stella quickly greeted Scarlett, âGood morning, great aunt.â
The cold expression on Scarlettâs face turned warm. She beckoned to Stella and said, âCome closer and let me take a good look at you. Iâm getting old, I donât see things so clearly now.â
Stella asked Hayden for permission, then approached Scarlett after Hayden agreed. She lifted her head and asked, âIs it close enough for you, Great Aunt?â
Scarlett smiled, âYouâre not afraid of me?â
âWhy should I be afraid of you? Youâre not a monster or a caterpillar.â
âBecause children used to be afraid of me.â
âReally?â Stella opened her eyes as if she had heard something impossible. Then she replied in a serious tone, âThen they get scared too easily. Parents shouldnât let them act like that. How would they be able to protect their family in the future?â
âYou should go train them then.â Scarlett laughed heartily.
Hayden had never seen his aunt laugh like that.
Scarlett patted Stellaâs hand after a while, then stood up and looked at Hayden. âLook at her attitude, do you want to give it to me?â.
Hayden didnât understand, âWhat do you mean?â
âI know you gave birth to Stella overseas behind the Downey Familyâs back. They wonât recognize her anyway. I donât want to know what happened to her father, but itâs not good for you for her to stay with you. How would you marry her? I donât want your mother to blame me when we meet in heaven.â
Scarlett was direct, but what she said had scared Stella until she hid behind Hayden, âI donât want to be away from Mom. Momâs boyfriend really liked her, and I like him too. You donât have to worry about Mommyâs marriage.â
Scarlett glanced at Stella and continued, âIâve heard about you and Joseph. He has a son too, if you didnât have a daughter, I wouldnât agree with your relationship with him at all. But since these are facts we canât change, you have to think it through. The Beckham Family is not as simple as you think, youâd better make up your mind after I have researched his family background.â
Hayden pursed his lips and listened to his auntâs advice. She never thought to refute anything. She was still terrified of the impression it made on her in her childhood.
A man and a boy were walking near the entrance to the cemetery during their conversation. Managing to hear the second half of what Scarlett said. They stopped, âAsk me anything you want to know. You donât need to do any research.â
Hayden was stunned. Watching Joseph and Noah as they neared the entrance to the cemetery.
Noah let go of Josephâs hand and ran to Hayden when he saw her. Then he started playing with Stella.
Scarlett turned around and stood in front of Hayden. She appraised Joseph without emotion, âAre you the head of the ST Group, Joseph Beckham?â.
It was rare to see people who didnât see him as an important person. However, there were a lot of people like that when he was with Hayden.
âYes. Who are you?â
âYou donât need to know who I am. I heard what you just said. Are you saying you want to marry Hayden?â
Hayden bristled at hearing her auntâs question. Stunned, she looked at Joseph.
