âItâs getting late, you can stay if you like it here. I donât want to argue with you, but remember this, I donât want to hear anything bad about my daughter from you.â
Hayden got up from the couch. She turned and spoke to Chelsea as she passed her, âIf you donât like the person your mother introduced you to, why donât you bring your boyfriend home and introduce him to her? I, as your sister, can always help you if you donât dare. After all, our father is not an unreasonable person. Donât misunderstand the kindness in your parentsâ action.â
âI donât understand what youâre talking about.â Chelsea panicked. She couldnât even explain herself properly. She looked around and saw Freddieâs crew looking at her, âDonât listen to her! Itâs all nonsense. Sheâs trying to destroy my reputation. Iâm from the Downey Family. I canât have a lover.â
Hayden knew that Chelsea was afraid of being belittled and that she had great regard for her dignity.
Chelsea having a lover was outside of Haydenâs expectations. But Hayden could guarantee that even if Chelsea dared to have one, she wouldnât dare talk about it at all.
People love gossip, especially anecdotes. The subject of the lover attracted the attention of those in the dressing room. They started whispering and talking about Chelseaâs reputation. It became quite embarrassing for her.
If Chelsea hadnât provoked Hayden, Hayden wouldnât have done this to her.
âYou!â Chelsea panicked when no one heard her explanation, âHayden, you bitch! You destroy my reputation! Iâll kill you!â. Chelsea then grabbed Haydenâs shoulder and raised her hand.
Hayden didnât expect Chelsea to have the nerve to hit her in public. It was too late when she wanted to dodge Chelseaâs slap.
As Chelsea was about to hit Hayden, a shadow blocked the lights in the doorway.
The shadowâs hand grabbed Chelseaâs wrist and prevented her from hitting Hayden. He scolded Chelsea, âChelsea, what are you doing?â.
Chelseaâs face went pale. âFreddieâ¦â
âAre you trying to bully Hayden on my turf, do you want me to call the police?â. Freddie looked unapproachable and shrugged his shoulders angrily pushing Chelseaâs hand away.
âFreddie, it was just a misunderstanding. She defamed me and tried to destroy my reputation, I couldnât help it. I was too angry. You see, Iâm here to support you, I even brought you flowers. They were flown in this morning, take a look.â
Chelsea played the victim card.
Hayden scoffed. She didnât even try to defend herself. Hayden continued to watch Chelsea put on a show.
Freddie didnât even look at the bouquet. He said coldly, âHayden is not an unreasonable person. As for you, I donât remember inviting you. Go away, please.â
gαâηÏνðâsâ¤com brings you fresh updates Hayden had already embarrassed Chelsea by exposing her lover. Now she was humiliated because Freddie had kicked her out of the dressing room.
Chelsea pursed her lips and frowned angrily.
âFreddie, we grew up together, Iâve always seen you as a member of the family. Since your debut, Iâve invested in your shows and TV series unconditionally, how could you treat me like this? Donât forget that the Downey Family saved you from dying in that underground boxing ring.â
Everyone froze after Chelsea blurted that out.
Hayden got nervous and looked at Freddie.
Freddie was usually cheerful and animated, but at that moment he looked like an iceberg. He took a few steps forward and approached Chelsea.
Chelsea was terrified by the way Freddie was looking at her. She backed up a few steps and leaned against the wall.
Freddie looked Chelsea in the eyes. âThis is the last time Iâm warning you, Chelsea. Stay out of my business. Iâm just like Hayden, I can live a good life without your familyâs help.â
âFreddie, thatâs not what I meant. Iâ¦â
âBeat it.â Freddie turned away and ignored her. His tone was so cold it chilled Chelseaâs spine.
Hayden quickly winked at Freddieâs manager, who was already flabbergasted by her attitude. He immediately recovered from his surprise and stepped between Freddie and Chelsea. He smiled politely at Chelsea and said, âMiss Chelsea, please. The concert is going to start soon. Please make your way to the auditorium if you have already purchased a ticket.â
Chelsea could not stay in the dressing room now.
Chelsea pursed her lips and glared at Hayden, then reluctantly left the room.
After the incident, all the teams returned to their stations. The makeup artists continued to fix Freddieâs makeup, while the stylist fixed his hairstyle. The team was used to these types of incidents, as they happened often in the industry.
Everyoneâs minds were in tune and they agreed not to discuss the matter further.
Most importantly, Hayden saw Freddieâs manager walking around and handing out red packets to everyone in the dressing room. He gave them all a payment to keep them quiet.
Out of everyoneâs sight, a man in a black cap stood in the direction of the fire escape and was recording the dispute in the dressing room.
âYouâre on in ten minutes. Freddie, Iâll give you time to get ready. Weâll be outside.â
Freddieâs manager patted him on the shoulder to encourage him. He then walked out with the team after Freddie agreed. Hayden stayed behind as Freddieâs escort.
The dressing room suddenly became very quiet.
âAre you still holding on to what happened last time?â Hayden suddenly exclaimed.
The dressing room was not large. Freddie could clearly hear every word she said. Her words were like a pair of hands gently tearing at his scars and exposing what he was trying so hard to hide.
Tearing scars would hurt a lot, no matter how gentle one was.
Freddie frowned. He remembered every life and death moment when he was in the boxing ring.
The huge makeup mirror reflected Freddieâs gentle expression. He smiled bitterly and said softly, âI meant to say I donât care.â
âItâs okay.â Hayden patted him on the shoulder as an act of comfort, âNo one can really forget what theyâve been through, let alone let it go. Thatâs part of life, no matter what kind of experience it was. Itâs inseparable from one, what we went through molded the person we are today. Donât you like the person you are today?â.
âI like who I am.â Freddieâs expression turned tender, âI like everything I have now. If you hadnât taken me out of the boxing ring, I would never have what I have today. You gave me everything, you deserve to enjoy everything I have.â
âHave you forgotten what you said to me when I took you out of the boxing ring?â. Hayden smiled, âI asked you what you wanted most. You said you wanted freedom, the freedom you wanted is not to stay by my side forever. It would be another cage for you if you did that.â
Freddie was stunned. He couldnât remember what he had said that day. He felt confused and disappointed, âHayden, you knewâ¦â.
âThe concert is going to start soon, you should already be on stage.â Hayden stopped Freddie and pulled his hand away from his shoulder, âFreedom should be your belief. Everything else should mean nothing to you.â
