“And you’re laughing at all this! Why are you guys so shameless?”. Alayna frowned, “Just tell me if you want me to scold you. I’ll plug Stella’s ears first.”

Hearing this, Kevin sighed helplessly and glanced at the girl next to Alayna. “There’s something behind this, it’s not what it looks like; but I don’t think it’s right for her to hear it.”

“Why not?” Alayna and Stella asked at the same time.

Stella pouted, her childish voice echoing in the room, “Mom said only bad things can’t be heard. What bad things are you going to tell Alayna that I shouldn’t hear?”

Kevin shot her a wry look, touching his nose, he said, “Okay then. Anyway, this business is for your own good. So I’m not going to keep it from you too, but don’t add fuel to the fire. It’s really not that big a deal.”

“What do you mean?”

“About this matter, Joseph did it deliberately, for no other purpose. Just to make it up to Hayden.”

“Bullshit. You guys make it up to someone by going on vacation with another woman?”

“This is obviously fake news.” Kevin explained, “There are only two methods to reconcile with someone. One is to give her an out, while the other is to let her feel threatened. We tried to give Hayden an out, but it was futile. So Joseph used this as a last attempt.”

Alayna furrowed her eyebrows and was silent for a while after hearing his words. She glared at Kevin and asked, “Who came up with this bad idea?”

Alayna sent a shiver down Kevin’s spine, “Of course…it’s Joseph’s idea. Don’t look at me, it has nothing to do with me.”

“Shame on you.” Said Alayna unceremoniously, “You guys always putting us in embarrassing positions, but you never reflect on yourselves for doing something wrong. You are shameless. Come on, Stella.”

“Hey, don’t get mad. Don’t tell Hayden this, you just promised me.”

“I won’t.” Alayna glared at Kevin, “But Stella will.”

“Mom hates liars the most!”. Stella snorted and walked over to Alayna.

Kevin was dumbfounded on the spot.

This matter was already out of his hands. If Joseph found out, he would kill him.

Kevin had to hide before things went to shit.

…

The next day, Hayden arrived at his workplace, where he saw all the women gathered and whispering. Hayden could guess what they were talking about.

“Don’t they have anything to do? Was the customer data entered? Were the rooms checked? Was the reservation information verified?”. All the staff fled while Hayden stood at the entrance to the office, scolding them.

Then Hayden walked into his office without looking back.

Her assistant, Jeff, knocked on the door and walked in looking nervously at her, “Ms. Downey, this is the customer data.”

“Leave it.” Jeff lingered for a moment, “Miss Downey, you are excellent and could have found a better man.”

Hearing this, Hayden became angry, “You little brat. Did I have to spoil you by being such a chatterbox? You’re always doing nothing and keep gossiping like those women. Go back to your work.”

“I’m going.” Jeff nodded and hurried off.

Everyone in the hotel gave him a meaningful look all morning.

Hayden was sensible. She deliberately went to the cafeteria for lunch, with the entire staff watching her. She kept a straight face as she carried her food and chose the most conspicuous position to sit.

They didn’t want to look? Then let them look.

As soon as she sat down, the atmosphere suddenly became very rowdy. And he heard a name that made him grit his teeth in anger all morning.

“Mr. Beckham…”

A tall figure shadowed her. Joseph sat across from her in front of so many people.

“I’ve been in his office, but he wasn’t there. I brought you lunch.” Hayden heard a deep voice.

However, Hayden became irritated and snapped his chopsticks, “That soup is too salty.”

The surroundings immediately fell silent.

The cook in the kitchen looked at Joseph, feeling tense after hearing Hayden’s words.

The crowd looked at each other, breathing coldly.

Hayden was the only one who dared to snap her chopsticks in front of Joseph. Even if Joseph was photographed by reporters cheating on her, no other woman dared to make him look bad, none besides Hayden.

Miss Downey had a bad temper.

Joseph didn’t get angry, he just frowned, “Follow me to the office. I have something to tell you about the news you saw.”

Hayden folded her arms and sat upright, glaring at Joseph, “If you have something to say, say it here. We’re all part of your staff. Let’s hear this PR thing.”

The atmosphere was even quieter. Everyone was tense under such circumstances.

After a moment of silence, Joseph looked around with cold eyes, “The Group has cleared up the PR matter and all staff should have seen the announcement. Does anyone still have any questions?”

The crowd held its breath. It was a simple question.

“No. It’s all fake news, it’s just an artist trying to stand out…”.

Someone said, and the crowd slowly came to its senses.

Amid a cacophony of noise, Joseph stood up, leaned over the table, approached Hayden, and said quietly, “But I want to talk to you about a personal matter. I’ll wait for you in the office.”

Hayden clenched her fist, cocking her head to one side as she curved her lips at the feel of his warm breath, “Okay.”

She’d like to hear what he’d say to clear up the whole mess he’d made.

The two left, causing a furor in the cafeteria. Except for the cook whom Hayden criticized for making the soup too salty, the entire hotel staff was commenting on the scene from a moment ago.

“Miss Downey is not just any woman. She can lose her temper very easily. Mr. Beckham is one in a million, but it seems only Hayden can master him! I bet she must be a better choice of wife for president.”

“I don’t think so. If Mr. Beckham really likes this woman’s temperament, why would he keep cheating on her? I think it’s just the novelty of the moment. Men love to be respected. Miss Downey was making him look bad just now, they wouldn’t get along.”

The crowd fell silent.

The office was isolated from all those discussions outside. Hayden closed the door. She looked calm, but with a feeling of contempt she said, “Come in. There’s no one here.”
