“Are you sure it was Lachlan, you didn’t mistake him for someone else?”.

“No, I’m pretty sure of what I saw.”

It was already midnight. On the second floor of a luxurious villa located west of the city, Jason took the wine glass from Violet with doubt written all over his face. “Stop it. Stop drinking. Even if it was Lachlan, Joseph is still seeing you. That could probably mean he didn’t say anything to Joseph, everything could still be fine.”

“Are you saying he approached Joseph with a purpose?”. A thought flashed through Violet’s mind. She looked at Jason. “Would he want to threaten me?”

“I think so. Didn’t Lachlan like money very much? God knows if he’s trying to threaten us by getting close to Joseph. Besides, he doesn’t have any evidence about that night.”

“What do we do now?”

“Instead of hiding, why don’t we offer him something? There’s nothing money can’t do.”

Seeing Jason’s confident look, Violet slowly calmed down.

Jason was right. Lachlan loved money, there was nothing he wouldn’t do if offered enough of it.

…

The next morning, Hayden woke up to his alarm clock. He jumped out of bed when he saw the time on the clock, “Is it half past eight already?”

Joseph stepped out from behind the screen. He was wearing a white shirt and slacks. He looked at Hayden with a cup of coffee in his hand, “You have twenty-five minutes to get ready.”

Hayden bristled. He got out of bed and looked for clothes to put on. “It’s all your fault…”.

“My fault?” Joseph took a sip of coffee and looked at Hayden ambiguously.

Hayden grabbed a dress from the workspace and glared at Joseph, “You woke up, but you didn’t wake me up.”

“As your boyfriend, I don’t think it’s my fault I want to let you rest anymore.”

“Then don’t blame me for being late for work.” Hayden rolled his eyes at Joseph and went into the bathroom.

Joseph continued talking outside the bathroom.

“As your superior, I have to be strict with my subordinates.”

Hayden let out a snap and replied, “Oh, you’re so good at adapting your role at work and after work then.”

“Thank you.”

That was not a compliment! Hayden was speechless. He secretly cursed Joseph in his heart and quickly put on his makeup.

Hayden accidentally stepped on the cheongsam last night when he came out of the bathroom. He frowned, “What do we do with it?”.

“I have people to clean up later. I’ll ask them to send it to the tailor.”

“Can it be fixed?” Hayden was very doubtful about the possibility of fixing the cheongsam. After all, it had ripped up to where the armpit was, it was deformed.

“It doesn’t matter if it can be fixed. It’s a souvenir.”

Hayden was confused, “Souvenir?”

“Memory from last night.”

“…”.

Hayden was stunned before she realized what Joseph was saying. His face flushed and he ran out of the room. Joseph must have been holding back too much before this. He was turning into an animal now that his lust and desires were unleashed. Look how often they slept together after they were officially in a relationship.

The itinerary for the day was to visit the H Garden, this was located just two kilometers from the ST Hotel. Hayden took it upon himself to introduce the place in English. His perfect, fluent American accent trumped all the other translators the visitors brought.

Hans and Jennifer liked Hayden very much, especially when they learned that she lived alone abroad with her five-year-old daughter.

“It’s not easy raising a child alone in a foreign country. I’m impressed.” Jennifer took Hayden’s hand and showed her admiration.

“It’s been good, it wasn’t that hard either. We didn’t come back because it was hard, we came back because my daughter and I like the environment here.”

“I like the atmosphere here too.” Smiled Jennifer playfully, “You’re right! You weren’t distressed at all. You found Mr. Beckham after your return, true love is harder to find.”

“Yes, it is.” Hayden turned and looked in Joseph’s direction. He was discussing the process of building a stone bridge with Hans.

Hayden smiled.

The evening arrived. The ST Hotel held a cocktail party with outdoor music as a welcome for the guests.

Jennifer was wearing a lilac evening gown. She still looked attractive, even though she was well into her 50s.

“Mr. Beckham and Miss Downey, I’d like to introduce a friend of mine. She’s also from here and we met in the U.S.”

“You have another friend from here?”

“Yes, she’s here.” Jennifer smiled brightly and waved in the direction of the entrance.

A woman was walking toward them. Her black silk dress was embroidered with black sequins, and she looked like a walking black mermaid under the lights.

Hayden, however, was stunned. “Alayna?”

“You know her?” Jennifer was surprised.

Alayna wasn’t surprised at all. She smiled and explained, “I met Jennifer when I was in the U.S. She was a loyal customer at my store. Hayden is my best friend, so when Jennifer told me the address of the party, I knew she would be here.”

Alayna was a fashion designer and has many friends overseas. What surprised Hayden was that Jennifer was one of her friends. What a coincidence.

Jennifer had to leave after we chatted for a while.

“Alayna, Kevin will be here too.” Hayden suddenly reminded her. He looked at Joseph and asked for confirmation, “Right?”.

Joseph nodded.

Although this was a private party, Kevin’s attendance was expected, as he was a shareholder in the company.

Alayna rolled her eyes and said, “So what, it’s none of my business.”

“Are you two in a fight?” Hayden sighed, “I thought you two were fine, what happened?”

“We’re not fighting, we’re done.”

“You’re done?” Hayden asked hesitantly.

Alayna raised her eyebrow, “Yes.”

Hayden and Joseph looked at each other, they understood what each meant.

After Alayna and Kevin got together, they would tell people they were over every time they fought. It had happened so many times that Hayden and Joseph had already lost count, they were already too lazy to talk about it.

A familiar guy walked into the party at that moment. He saw Hayden and Joseph, then walked toward them.

Hayden wanted to push Joseph away. “Alayna, let’s go see some of our guests, are you okay by yourself?”.

“I’m fine.” Alayna waved her hand, “Go ahead, I didn’t come alone.”

“Who are you with?” Hayden was stunned.
