Chapter 126

The CEO’s little ones1,289 words~7 min read

“And Hayden?” Violet looked hurt and continued insistently with her questioning, “So you think she’s much better suited to be Noah’s mother than I am, do you?”

Joseph frowned slightly and nodded after a moment of contemplation, “Yes.”

Sometimes, it wasn’t necessary to clarify things in his head to everyone. He tended to solve most of the problems he encountered efficiently, and an answer like that would end this conversation for the time being.

As expected, although Violet pouted, he didn’t follow up with any more questions.

Violet clenched her fists all the way to the elevator after leaving Joseph’s office. After all, if it weren’t for Hayden, she would still be suitable for Joseph to marry her.

As she was about to close the elevator door, she heard the clear voice of a teenager, “Wait.”

Unconsciously, she let the elevator remain open, and vaguely remembered hearing that voice before. When she raised her head, the person quietly stepped into the elevator and nodded to her, “Thank you.”

Violet paled at the sight of the teenager’s face. The teenager would have seen the mean look on her face if she hadn’t been wearing her sunglasses.

“You…”

“What’s wrong with you?” THE teen looked at her puzzled, “You know me?”.

Violet clenched her fist and denied, hat and sunglasses hiding her face, “No, I don’t know you.”

Although some people might look alike, the person in front of her looked exactly like the missing Lachlan Kelly.

But he didn’t seem to know her.

The elevator door slowly opened after a jingle. Violet watched the teenager leave without turning around, then slowly came to her senses. She went to the front desk to ask, “Isn’t the hotel supposed to be taking no guests at this time? What about that boy who just left?”

Lillian was on duty at the front desk. “You mean Benjamin? He’s a friend of Miss Downey’s. Mr. Beckham arranged for him to stay here, he’s not a guest.”

Everyone at the ST Hotel knew that Benjamin was a friend that Joseph personally arranged for him to stay, so no one knew his identity. Nor did many know of his memory loss, as he used to hide it well.

Violet frowned even more.

How could he be friends with Hayden? Apparently it was Lachlan.

Or maybe he had told Joseph about the investigation into Caesar?

Thinking about this, Violet turned pale. She made a phone call and nervously spoke up, “Jason, I’ve seen Lachlan. This is becoming problematic.”

…

Hayden had slept well, and it was already dark outside when he awoke. The lights from behind the screen warmly illuminated the room. He opened his sleepy eyes and smelled something good.

“Why didn’t you wake me up?”

Hayden got out of bed, walked to behind the screen and saw Joseph eating alone at the table. There were three bowls of soup, served with fruit and desserts on the table.

“You’re not awake now, even though I didn’t wake you up?” Joseph raised his head, teasing, “Puppies and kittens usually wake up when they smell their food.”

“You be the puppy and kitten.” Hayden stared at him as he pulled a chair closer, “Humans also wake up to the smell of a delicious fragrance.”

Joseph didn’t respond as he poured a bowl of soup and set it in front of her. “Chicken soup. Taste it.”

“Did you cook it yourself?”

“Sort of.”

Hayden was stunned. He was just playing, how could she expect a spoiled child like him to cook chicken soup for her?

She froze for a moment before Joseph curved his lips and said with a smile, “I let them cook it at the hotel.”

Hearing this, Hayden rolled his eyes at her, “If this was considered that you did this, then we should tell the world, How about we announce that all the food in the hotel is cooked by the general manager? Then all the women in N-Town will be lining up to fawn over you.”

Joseph calmly replied, “Are you insinuating to me that you are jealous?”

“What… what do you mean I’m jealous…”. Hayden then blushed as he realized what he had just said, and replied, “Why are you being so smug? I was just exaggerating – do you really think there are that many women interested in you? Why would I be jealous?”

“I hadn’t realized how many women had hit on me before.” Joseph looked at her, “On the other hand, I’ve noticed quite a few men flirting with you. Shouldn’t you give me an explanation?”

Joseph abruptly changed his posture, and Hayden was dumbfounded at that moment, “What do you mean by flirting with me?”.

Joseph folded his arms and remained calm as he looked at her, “Fifteen and twenty-five years old. Do you always bring a man home with ten years between them?”

Hayden then came to herself and said dissatisfied, “Who are you talking about messing with a man? You knew it had all been an accident.”

“I knew the guy who lives in the hotel, but what about the other one? He’s been messing with me quite a bit lately.”

“You mean Freddie, how did he get into it with you again? Isn’t he in a variety show?”

“He really seems to be busy lately, take a look.” Joseph tapped something on his phone to play a video and showed it to Hayden with a deadpan expression on his face.

Hayden looked at the video in puzzlement, a video clip of Freddie being interviewed on a variety show. Freddie was sitting in front of the camera wearing blue and white plaid pajamas.

The reporter asked him, “You’re only twenty years old now. Even though the earlier scandal was cleared up and the company had proclaimed that you are single, can you tell us anything more about the kind of girl you like?”

“I think it’s not a type, I’m in love with someone.”

“You are?” The reporter asked excitedly, “Who is it, is it someone from the entertainment industry?”

“No, he’s from the outside. He adopted me when I was young.”

“Adopted? An adoptive mother?” The reporter was surprised.

“Of course not, she’s only three years older than me. She’s like a sister, but not by blood.”

The reporter was speechless.

“You’re kidding, right?”. Hayden didn’t take it seriously, as he explained while eating his soup, “He’s been like that since he was a kid, always telling others that I’m his girlfriend or fiancée. How is that possible? I’m his sister.”

“Really?” Joseph hit the rewind button, noting Hayden’s calm look, “So, how about we look at the caption title on this video?”

Hayden took a sip of the soup and looked at Joseph in confusion.

On the phone was a short three-minute video, with a caption title of [‘Freddie revealing his own life and the one he loved was his own adoptive mother’].

“Pff.” Hayden spat the soup out of his mouth, “Ahem, who is this journalist, isn’t this all nonsense, who is he calling Freddie’s adoptive mother? What’s this all about… ahem…”.

Joseph calmly pulled out a tissue and handed it to her. “You still think this isn’t a big deal?”.

Hayden, embarrassed, coughed as she took the tissue and wiped her mouth nonchalantly. “What now?”

“I asked someone to delete this trending topic before I got here.” Joseph said quietly.

Hayden froze for a moment and finally breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank you. I apologize for Freddie.”

Freddie was under Joseph’s company. It cost Joseph a lot of human and financial resources to fix the nonsense done by Freddie.

“Such an insincere thank you and apology.” Joseph’s eyes darkened.
