Chapter 124

The CEO’s little ones1,010 words~6 min read

The two employees looked at each other in surprise.

Hayden recovered from the surprise and tried to pull his hand away. But Joseph squeezed his hand even tighter.

In the room only Joseph’s deep voice could be heard: “Take a good look at her! She’s my partner now. Tell everyone what you’ve seen before I fire you.”

The two employees were as white as a sheet. One of them was in a cold sweat, his legs were jelly, and he might probably fall over if it weren’t for his partner holding him by the side.

They slipped out at once, not even daring to beg for mercy under Joseph’s stern gaze.

The door closed with a click and the room fell silent again.

Hayden rubbed his wrist, lowering his head, “Why did you say that?”

“Say what?”

“I said…I’m your partner.”

Joseph walked over to Hayden and lifted his head to look at him. “You should have understood what I said last night.”

Behind Hayden was the bed, and she had nowhere to run. She bit the bullet and told him, “You said you’d give me some time…”.

“And I said I wouldn’t wait too long either.”

Joseph kept Hayden at a distance and leaned toward her, looking at her. She could tell Joseph had an uncompromising attitude from his eyes.

Hayden had no way out but to be forced by Joseph’s aggressiveness, “What if I’m married?”

She had a daughter and the entire hotel staff also thought she was married.

She gave Joseph no credit for not considering such a problem.

“Do you think I’m stupid?” Joseph scoffed in a cold voice.

At that moment, Hayden staggered, giving a stiff smile, she felt like she had shot herself in the foot. She had this feeling when she spent a lot of time with Joseph, which made her feel numb.

Hayden sat up with difficulty, panting. She was angry and glared at him, “You scoundrel.”

Joseph put his hands behind his head, looking at her playfully. “You came on to me like that yesterday too.”

Hayden realized then what he was talking about. Her blood boiled as she grabbed the pillow and slammed it over her head, “Shut up…”.

Joseph reached up to block the pillow, and threw his arms around Hayden’s neck. Then she stumbled and fell on top of him as the pillow rolled to the carpet. Time stood still for this moment.

…

The next morning, the foreign guests were greeted at the hotel by the men sent to the airport and the government diplomat. Upon check-in, Hayden, as a representative of the hotel, followed them next door.

The main purpose of this visit was commercial promotion. There were fifteen foreign guests, represented by a man in his fifties with blue eyes and white hair, his name was Hans and he was accompanied by his wife, Jennifer.

The diplomat knew Joseph, but Hayden introduced him to Hans anyway: “This is the CEO of the ST Group, Joseph Beckham”.

Hans nodded and they shook hands amicably.

Joseph glanced at Hayden: “This is Miss Downey, the person in charge of this reception, as well as introducing the local customs of N-Town later on. I wish you a good time here.”

“Oh, what a pretty lady.” Hans cocked his head to one side. A man in his fifties was acting childishly as he asked mischievously, “Is she your wife?”

Joseph said calmly, “She will be soon.”

The hotel employees who heard this looked at each other as if they had corroborated something. Even the diplomat looked at Hayden in surprise.

Hans and his wife euphorically congratulated them when they learned they were about to be married. Jennifer even hugged Hayden, showing great enthusiasm. “Tell me when you’re getting married. I have a friend who makes beautiful wedding dresses.”

Hayden blushed as they hugged, hearing Jennifer’s words. Hans mocked her again.

Fortunately, the diplomat came out to ease the situation, and they returned to their main topic. Hayden then ceased to be their topic of conversation, and instructed the waiters to lead the people to their respective rooms.

The first day was for the foreigners to recover from their jet lag, so there was nothing scheduled for that day.

Lunch was delivered to everyone’s room. Hayden monitored the entire process, from delivery to return, to avoid accidents. He made sure after confirming that there was no problem.

Hayden then had time to return to her room after everything was settled. He took off his heels and placed his bare feet on the carpet, then lay down on the couch, stretching as he yawned.

She had gotten up early and waited until noon for people to arrive. He was very sleepy.

Just as he had finished lying down, someone came out from behind the screen and approached the couch: “Sleep in the bed if you want to sleep. The temperature of the air conditioner is low, you’ll catch a cold sleeping here.”

“I’m out of strength. I’ll sleep here today.” Hayden was exhausted and sleepy. He held up his hand, “Just give me a blanket and I’ll be fine.”

His thin arm wavered in the air for a while and finally fell over the back of the couch. Joseph shook his head helplessly and walked over.

“Huh?” Hayden exclaimed as his body snuggled into Joseph’s arms. His eyes opened for a second and blurred shut again, growling, “Sleeping on the couch will be fine. How annoying you are, idle.”

He was such an ungrateful person. Joseph thought about this, he really wanted to throw her on the floor.

But seeing her sleeping soundly in his arms, he softened. He gently placed her on the bed, covering her with the blanket. Then he closed the curtains and turned on the night light.

He adjusted the temperature of the air conditioner before leaving. Just as he closed the door, he glanced at the warm atmosphere inside the room. Suddenly, he realized he was doing something he had never done before.
