After coming home in the afternoon, Hayden cooked noodles for Stella in the kitchen while wearing the apron.
Stella ran up to him and asked while smiling, âMommy, are you in a good mood today?â.
âWhatâs wrong with you, why do you ask that?â.
âIâm just asking!â. Stella sniffed, âMommy, did you get flowers? I can smell the fragrance of flowers from your body.â
Hearing this, Haydenâs eyebrows instantly furrowed.
But Stella didnât notice and still asked as she looked ahead to hear Haydenâs answer. âIs it given by Joseph? Itâs smell of roses, So nice!â.
After these words were uttered, Hayden directly pushed the knife into the chopping board and spoke impatiently.
âDonât mention it.â
Stella shuddered and felt a shiver run down her spine. She looked up and saw Haydenâs shadowed face. Her heart thumped against her chest wildly for a while and she ran away angrily.
What was going on, did she think giving flowers would definitely succeed?
In the kitchen, the sounds of chopping were made incessantly. Stella stayed in the room and secretly made a phone call.
âSir, Mom seems to be angrier than before! No, mom was just sad before, but this time sheâs really angry!â.
ââ¦â.
âLetâs think of another way.â
In the dining room of the Beckham Family mansion, Harrison looked depressed after hanging up the phone.
It didnât make sense â shouldnât all women be happy when they received flowers? How was it that he was getting even angrier?
At dinner, Haydenâs mood seemed to lighten after cutting the ribs. She put some ribs in Stellaâs bowl using the chopsticks.
âShe eats more. When Iâm not home during the day, you put the ribs in the microwave to warm them up, donât eat too many snacks.â
âMommy, Iâm so bored staying home every day.â Stella bit down on her ribs and said vaguely, âWhy donât you sign me up for a hobby class?â
âHobby class?â Hayden was slightly dumbfounded, âWhat do you want to learn?â.
âSwimming!â Stella stomped back to her room and then came out again, showing the ads for summer swimming lessons on her Tablet to Hayden.
âI already looked it up, the kids can go on their own Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday, Mom can join me so we can go together.â
âI canât swim.â Hayden frowned, âWhy would I go.â
âYes, thatâs nice, I asked them, they say adults can have a free lesson on Saturday and Sunday, we can learn together too.â
âWhen did you ask?â Haydenâs face looked suspicious.
âI phoned and asked just now.â Stella showed a naive face, âMommy, donât you always worry that I donât eat well when Iâm home alone? If I sign up for swimming, you can send me there in the morning and theyâll feed me.â
âFeed you?â Hayden read the ads as he said, âSince it provides so many things, it must be pretty expensive.â
âI asked. They say there will be a 50% discount on the first day.â
âThen it will beâ¦â. Hayden silently calculated the price and let out a sigh of relief. âThen it still looks good, Iâll take you to check in tomorrow.â
Stella blinked. âMommyâs the best. Then Mommy has to go swimming with me this Sunday.â
âNo problem.â
â¦
The next day, after Hayden sent Stella to swimming, he got a call from his assistant who told him that the hotel receptionist had a conflict with a client. So he rushed over after hanging up the phone.
âWhatâs going on?â
When he arrived at the hotel, Jeff immediately approached him and gave him a long face.
âWe want to welcome and serve foreign guests, so the whole hotel needs to be emptied. But the previous film crews coming to stay are a big problem. I donât know how they communicate and the supporting actress of this film crew is offended.â
âThe film crews?â, Hayden frowned, âThe supporting actress? The one staying in room 1213 by the name of Madison Lopez?â.
âYes, thatâs her. We originally worked out a deal with the film crews that they would stay at the nearby hotel and we would arrange to send them luggage and compensate them for lost time. However, Madison says she lost a diamond necklace. The CCTV shows that the only person who visited her room in the morning is the receptionist, Lillian, who went there to inform her of the time to move her thingsâ¦.â
âSo, youâre saying Lillian stole your things?â. Hayden frowned. She knew everyone in the hotel. And the receptionist, Lillian was personally interviewed by her and Lillian was in fact not a person who would steal.
âYes, Madison keeps saying she wants to call the police. However, isnât our hotel going to serve and welcome foreign guests? If the cops come and let them know that someone in our hotel steals things, it will make a bad impact.â
Hayden nodded, âItâs not possible to call the police, where is Lillian? Ask her to look for me, Iâll ask her what happened.â
âOkay.â
Jeff hastily nodded and went to find Lillian.
Hayden, for his part, went straight to the monitoring room and when he got there, he saw a familiar figure.
âWhy are you here?â She looked at Benjamin in surprise.
Benjamin blinked, âThe hotel has had a problem. My first reaction is to come and watch the surveillance video. Iâm very free, so Iâm coming to help them. Iâve asked them to retrieve the surveillance video you want, so you can come straight over and watch it.â
Hayden praised, âWow, not bad at all.â
The surveillance screen showed the door scene from room 1213. The operator played the video at 8x speed. When he showed last nightâs scene, Haydenâs eyes suddenly narrowed.
âStop.â
The operator quickly stopped him, âIs there a problem, Ms. Downey?â
Hayden held up his hand and motioned to tell her not to speak. She stared at the screen and, after a moment, said in a gravelly voice, âRewind it to the position at about minute 5.â The video rewound quickly.
âStop.â
Noting Lillianâs panicked demeanor in the doorway of the room, Hayden took a deep breath and his face darkened.
âItâs like what Jeff said. At nine oâclock last night, Lillian entered room 1213 and at that time, there shouldnât be anyone inside Madisonâs room.â
Benjamin stroked his chin and pushed his glasses lightly up on his nose. There was a knowing gleam in his eye, âApparently itâs not that simple.â
A series of footsteps sounded from the doorway, followed by Jeffâs halting voice.
âMiss Downey, something bad has happened. Lillian has gone up to the top floor; she wants to jump to her death.â
âWhat?â
Haydenâs face paled and he ran off in twelve-centimeter high heels.
On the top floor of the ST Hotel, a slender figure trembled standing by the rusty railing. The blazing sun was shining so brightly that people had trouble opening their eyes. The wind on the top floor was hot as if someone could be seriously tanned by it at any moment.
âDonât come, you people donât come.â
âLillian, calm down.â
When Hayden reached the top floor, a few hotel employees surrounded the scene. They all looked nervously at the trembling figure outside the railing. Every one of them had a pale face.
If anything happened to the hotel before the foreign guests arrived, the hotel and even the ST Group would be finished.
âGet out of the way.â
Hayden pushed through the crowd and made his way to the front. Once she saw the scene in front of her, she was scared half to death. She barely calmed down and raised her hands and said as she gasped.
âLillian, itâs me, calm down. Come down first to talk to me.â
