Chapter 80
Ryan, who had been playing with his phone with his head down, suddenly looked up. Unable to hide, I could only force myself to walk out.
Ryanâs expression softened slightly, and he said in a gentle voice, âWhy are you at the hospital?â
Completely different from his cold tone when confronting Jessica just now. If it were before, I might have sensed a hint of favoritism in his coldness.
Now, all I felt was mockery.
Before I could say anything, Jessica glanced at the doctorâs introduction on the office door display screen and smirked. âWhy are you seeing this kind of specialist? Could it be youâve contracted HPV or something? This kind of infection only happens if you have a messy private life.â
She deliberately raised her voice and it drew many disdainful glances towards me.
Instead, breathed a sigh of relief. Glancing at the display screen, I realized that perhaps due to a shift change, the specialist shown wasnât the doctor I had just registered with.
I also realized that even though I had come for a pregnancy checkâup because I hadnât reached three months ve
yet, I could only see a gynecologist, not an obstetrician.
If it were an obstetrician, I wouldnât have been able to explain myself just now. Ryan would probably just use his authority to access my medical history.
I sighed lightly, adjusted my mood, and said calmly, âYes, women fear their husbands bringing home diseases from unclean women they have affairs with
Jessica gritted her teeth, no longer daring to argue with me about this. âSo why are you here then?â
I smiled and said softly, âDidnât you already say? Iâm here to check the dirty disease my husband infected me with.â
Jessica glared at me. âCharlotte, do you believeâ¦â
âWhy do you talk so much?â
Ryanâs face darkened with a layer of frost, interrupting Jessicaâs words coldly.
Jessica was instantly infuriated, her eyes turned red. What do you mean? Sheâs Insulting you, canât you tell? Why are you still defending her?â
âSo you know heâs my
husband?â
I tried to remain calm and gentle, not letting myself get too angry. âItâs not wise to cling to someone elseâs husband in public. Hey, why did you come to the hospital? I just heard you talking about children back in the office. Do the two of you already have a child?â
As soon as I finished speaking, the eyes of the onlookers shifted from me to Jessica and Ryan.
Most of the people present were women. They all felt disdainful towards Jessica and Ryan after hearing what I said.
âMistressâ and âillegitimate childâ were the words that came to mind.

They had become the public enemy.
The women felt that the cheating man was even more despicable.
One lacked morality, and the other not only lacked morality but also responsibility and commitment.
âWhat are you all looking at?â Jessica justified herself confidently. âHe and I grew up together. Many years ago, we almost got married.â
Pointing at me, she continued to distort the truth, âItâs her, itâs this womanâs intrusion that forcibly
separated us, causing us to miss out on so many years. Now Iâm just taking back what rightfully belongs to me!â
âJessica.â
Ryanâs patience wore thin, a hint of irritation showing in his eyes. âWerenât you feeling ill? You sound fine now. Since youâre fine, Iâll have someone send you home.â
Jessica was about to cry, clinging to his arm. âIt hurts, it hurts so muchâ¦â
I had no interest in staying any longer. I looked at Ryan. âWhen you have time, please give me a call.â
Some things, I didnât want to drag on any more.
I didnât want to upset Grandpa, but there were other ways to solve this.
âJessica, how are you? What did the doctor say?â
