Chapter 60
It seemed that I was destined to not be able to eat properly that day.
Back home, I slept through the night in a daze. I felt like I was asleep and awake at the same time. The next day, I slept until noon, feeling lightheaded.
I checked the fridge, made myself a tuna sandwich, drank some milk, and finally felt a little better.
The concert was in the evening, still early now, instead of sinking into negative emotions, I decided to open my computer and prepare to work.
First, I checked my social media as usual.
Seeing a message from the official MS Group account, I couldnât help but perk up.
Just as I was about to read it in detail, Janeâs call came in. âDarling, are you okay?â
I didnât want her to worry. âIâm fine.â
âDid Ryan go back home?â
I hesitated for a moment. âNo.â
âIn that case, letâs forget about him.â Jane changed the subject. âI called to ask you, have you seen the news that MS is planning a collaborative collection?â
âI just saw it.â
In the past, these collaborations were usually settled between brands with a signed contract.
This time, MSâs Christmas collaborative collection was going to be conducted through a design competition.
Each brand had two slots for participants, and the winning designer from each brand would collaborate with the MS Group.
The MS Group was the leader among luxury brands.
With this news out, all major brands would surely vie for this collaboration opportunity.
Jane asked, âDoes it tempt you?â
âOf course. Itâs such a good opportunity, who wouldnât be tempted.â
To collaborate with MS once was a rare opportunity.
Then I sighed. âBut there are many more talented designers than me, I can only think about it.â
Jane smirked, cunningly suggesting, âIsnât Jack now the regional CEO of the MS Group? Why donât you ask him to help you behind the scenes?â
âGet lost.â I chuckled. âWhat would that make me and Jack to others? It wouldnât be fair
âCome on, donât overthink things. Our country is all about relationships in business. Do you think other
brands wonât privately contact Jack? Would they care if itâs fair to you?â
âThatâs their business. Anyway, I donât want to do it that way, I insisted.

Jane lamented, âYouâre so stubborn. This is just a project, not some shady dealings in a proper design competition.â
âSince itâs branded as a competition, Iâll follow the rules. Besides, do you think Jack would agree? Heâs not the kind to show favoritism.â
âThatâs true.â Jane pondered thoughtfully for a moment, then smiled. âBut who knows, maybe he would be willing to make an exception for you.â
âYouâre too optimistically.â
I denied it without thinking. While Jack and I were good friends in university, it had been three years since we last met. How could he suddenly set a precedent for me?
âDonât worry about it, I might not even get one of the competition slots.â
Now that Jessica was the director, everything in F&A was up to her. There were only two slots, and it was unlikely I would get one.
Jane cursed in frustration, âI almost forgot if you hadnât brought this up. Thereâs also that bitch in your way.
I smiled. âLetâs see when I get to work on Monday.â
That was all I could do.
After hanging up, I glanced at the door of my house, which no one had knocked on.
My heart sank a little.
But I wasnât surprised.
With Jessica around, him standing me up was normal.
He had probably even forgotten about the concert that he promised to take me to.
I was working when my phone suddenly rang.
