Chapter 46
âMoving house?â I repeated inwardly.
My heart skipped a beat.
At that moment, I found it a little hard to calm myself down.
I took a deep breath. âMove here? I didnât agree to that.â
âGrandpa said you promised him that youâll postpone the divorce.â
He played the bummer and handed me his phone. âDo you want to talk to Grandpa?â
âYou have no shame.â I couldnât help but glare at him. âAgreeing to postpone the divorce doesnât I agree to you moving in with me.â
I couldnât believe that the CEO of the Frost Group would be so shameless.
No one would believe in such a sight?
âItâs normal for husband and wife to live together,â he said matterâofâfactly.
âExcuses, excuses,â I said as I opened the door and walked into the house.
He followed me in as if it was his house as well.
I thought of what Grandpa told me that night and felt sorry for Ryan, so I decided not to drive him away.
I reached out and pointed to a room opposite the master bedroom. âYou can stay in that
room.â
âOkay.â He just nodded and took his suitcase into the room.
I poured myself a glass of water and drank it. As I put the glass down and turned around, I collided with a broad and warm chest.
It was a familiar scent that I used to love.
But I quickly stepped back, feeling somewhat awkward. âWhat else do you want?â
+ felt we were more like strangers rather than a married couple.
But only this way could I keep myself from falling in love with him again.
I kept reminding myself that Ryan didnât love me.
Disappointment flashed in his eyes as he pursed his lips. âI just wanted to ask if your face has gotten better?â
âI donât know,â I replied.

I hadnât bothered to look in the mirror all night.
If he hadnât asked, I would have almost forgotten about it.
He raised his hand. âLet me see.â
âNo need.â
I instinctively avoided his gesture. âI can take care of it myself.â
âCharlotte, do we have to be so distant now?â He frowned.
âItâs not about being distant.â
I recalled how intimate he and Jessica were at the police station, and my gaze fell on his sleeve. âI just find it dirty.â
It was true that I loved him.
But Move the clean and pure Ryan, like the moon in a clear sky.
Not someone who had just finished flirting with another woman and then came to me with
concern.
âWell⦠remember to apply some medication.â His hand froze in midâair, his slender, attractive/ fingers curling slightly.
For the first time, I saw a hint of embarrassment in him.
Back in the room, as I replayed the scene in my mind, I felt a pang of bitterness and heartache.
But when I looked up and saw the large red marks on my face after removing my makeup, I became more determined to divorce Ryan.
He didnât stand up for Jessica that night, because he was probably just afraid that I would tell Grandpa about Jessica slapping me.
Yes, he would always consider Jessicaâs feelings carefully.
I couldnât eat peacefully at the family banquet. After taking a shower and lying on the bed for a while, I got hungry and couldnât concentrate on reading.
Through the crack in the door, I could see that the living room lights were still on.
I didnât want to face Ryan, so I waited. As the time passed 11 oâclock and there was still no movement outside, I thought maybe he had forgotten to turn off the lights.
I ordered takeout on my phone, with a note: Hang it on the door, donât ring the doorbell.
What I didnât expect was that when I saw on the delivery app that the food had arrived and

quietly walked out of the room, I bumped right into Ryan, who was working in the open office
area.
He had showered and was wearing a set of dark blue casual wear. A pair of goldârimmed glasses was perched on his nose bridge. His messy hair wasnât completely dry yet, making him look even more innocent and harmless.
He stopped working, took off his glasses, gently pinched his nose, and walked over. âAre you hungry?â
