Chapter 43
Now that Grandpa had asked me for a favor, I had no reason to turn him down.
Ryan and I were already separated, and a divorce certificate would only make our division clearer.
There was no rush for us to get a divorce agreement.
Moreover, Grandpaâs 80th birthday was just a month away. There wasnât much time left at all.
Later, Albert escorted me out of the study.
âMr. William did this because heâs worried that you and Mr. Frost will regret . your decisions in the future. He wants you both to think things through a little longer.â
I pursed my lips and was about to speak when my phone rang.
It was an unknown landline.
âHello, is this a relative of Jane?â
âYes.â
âThis is Jelaston Police Station. Please come over as soon as possible.â
Before I could ask anything, they hung up.
With no time to spare, I hurried downstairs. As soon as I stepped out of the elevator, I saw Jessica fuming with anger.
âYouâve gone over the line!â she exclaimed, moving to slap me, but I stopped her.
My mind was preoccupied with Janeâs situation. I had no time to deal with Jessica. âMove aside!â
I pushed away her hand and strode off.
I didnât know what had happened to Jane. As I rushed to the police station, my mind was in turmoil.
And that familiar black Maybach, which had been following my car since I left

the house, was making me even more irritated.
âWhatâs Ryan doing now?â I wondered.
Was he doing this just because I didnât let Jessica slap me?
While I was waiting for the traffic lights to turn green, I called him. âWhy have you been following me?â
On the phone, I heard a womanâs mocking laughter.
âCharlotte, who do you think you are?â It was Jessicaâs soft and gentle voice.â Ryan is worried about me, so he wanted to accompany me to the police station. It has nothing to do with you.â
I froze for a moment.
I felt like she had slapped me in the face again.
She was right.
I didnât know my place, not just this time, but for the past three years as well.
After arriving at the entrance of the police station, I found out about what happened to Jane even before I went in.
I also understood why Jessica had come to the police station so late at night,
The familiar black Panamera that had been parked at the Frost Group that evening didnât even have its number plate affixed yet, was riddled with dents, and had become a heap of scrap metal.
Inside the police station, a police officer led me to Jane.
Jane, who was normally very lively, was now curled up alone in a corner. Her chin was resting on her pale wrist and her expression was distant. She seemed to be lost in thought.
When she heard footsteps, she turned her head slightly. When she saw me, she immediately let out a bright smile.
Approaching her with concern, I pointed outside. âDid you do that?â
âSheâs already confessed.â A police officer interrupted before Jane could reply.
I tapped her forehead lightly. âYou canât always be so impulsive.â

âEven so, I still want to do this to you.â

Jane didnât seem to mind. She slowly stood up and looked at me for help. âMy legs have gone numb. Quick, help me up.â
I sighed helplessly and went to help her up. Before I could respond, Jessica walked into the room in her high heels.
âHow dare you destroy my car?â she demanded, towering over Jane.
Jane didnât answer Jessicaâs question. Instead, she deliberately said, âYour Panamera? Boom, itâs gone!â
âIs that so? I will definitely make you pay for this!â Jessica stomped her feet and turned around. When she saw Ryan walking into the room, she said, âRyan, . are you going to say something or not? Theyâre all bullying me!â
