Chapter 380
Before he could finish speaking, the phone slipped from my hand..
My hands were trembling uncontrollably as I stood by the window for a long time, until Ryan left and the RollsâRoyce drove out of the Frost familyâs residence.
I watched until the taillights disappeared from view.
After 20 minutes, I finally opened the bedside drawer, took out a fruit knife, and made a cut on my wrist.
The blood was warm and glaring.
But not deep, so I wouldnât die.
I walked out barefoot, twisted open the door, and went downstairs. Albert came over. âMrs. Frost, Mr. Frost instructedâ¦â
He was startled by the blood oozing out of my wrist.
*Albert, I donât want to make things difficult for you.â
I seemed to feel no pain, grabbing my car keys. âLet those bodyguards let me out, or else, Ryan will come back and only find a corpse.â
Albertâs eyes were full of concern as he followed me to the car and hurriedly opened the door. âWhy are you doing this⦠Ryan only means wellâ¦â
âMean well?â I sat down and laughed. âIt seems youâve forgotten how we ended up like this.â
One would never truly understand the pain until they had experienced it themselves.
The car sped along.
I pulled over, using the bandages that I had long since kept in my hand to quickly bandage the wound on my wrist.
On the way to Jeswood, I stared intently at the road ahead, my mind fixated. on one thought. Frank was still alive.
He had an accident at the lab.
So, I was going to the lab to find him.
He would still be the same as before, lazily leaning somewhere, cocking his brows at me and saying, âCharlotte, youâve got some conscience, coming to find me?â
That was itâ¦
It would definitely be like that.
Beep, beep-
As I crossed a bridge, a large truck came out of nowhere, speeding towards me in the wrong direction.
I might have had a slim chance of survival if I swerved right, but for some reason, I chose to turn the steering wheel left, crashing straight into the lake.
In early spring, the icy lake water rushed in eagerly.
The temperature was way below freezing.
Breathing became increasingly difficult.
When I woke up again, I was in the hospital.
I hadnât died.
The wound on my wrist was neatly reâbandaged.
Jack suddenly stood up, letting out a sigh of relief. âCharlotte, youâre awake?â
âJackâ¦â
My throat felt like it had been sliced with a blade, and speaking was painfully difficult, my voice was rough and hoarse. âHow come youâre here?â
âMy car followed you the whole way.â
Jackâs brow was furrowed with concern. âDonât worry. Itâs safe here. As long as you donât want anyone to find out about you, no one will.â
âThank youâ¦â

âI didnât understand at first why, in that situation, most people would instinctively turn the wheel right to survive, but why did you turn left?â
He picked up a pack of pills from the bedside table.
They were Sertraline Hydrochloride Tablets.
His voice was choked with emotion. âWhen this medicine fell out of your pocket, I understood immediately⦠When did this happen?â
âItâs Janeâs medicine,â I replied dismissively, swallowing hard. âWhat about Frank? Have the police found him?â
âNo, Charlotte, you need to be strongâ¦â he said.
âBe strong? Why do I need to be strong? The police havenât made the
announcement yet.â
âTake a look at this.â
Although unwilling, he still passed me his phone.
I had been unconscious for two days.
The police had announced Frankâs death earlier in the morning.
