Chapter 329
Even though the corridor floor was covered with soft carpet, the pain from my butt hitting the ground made my muddled brain regain a bit of clarity.
The person who brought me upstairs was Ryan.
I actually mistook him for someone else.
Perhaps sensing my resistance, Ryan was momentarily stunned, then, against the light, he sneered. âAre you determined to be with him? Are you planning to be a bridesmaid when he marries the eldest daughter of the Shaw family?â
Frankâs remarks were always sharp. âAre you trying to impose your own experiences on me?â
He took a few large strides to where I was and helped me up from the floor, then looked at Ryan with a faint smile. âMr. Frost, take care, no need to see us off.â
Ryan clenched his fists, suppressing his anger. âYouâd better focus on Lily. Charlotte will only ever be mine.
âShe has never belonged to anyone.â Frankâs voice was calm. âShe is herself.â
Ryanâs gaze grew colder as he extended his hand to me, adopting what he probably thought was his most humble posture.
He thought he was compromising. âBe good and donât make a scene. You and he will never work out.
Come home with me.â
âItâs none of your business how I am with him or with anyone else.â
My headache was excruciating, but my words were clear. âYou and I are already separated. Donât say things that might be misunderstood by others.â
At those words, Ryan radiated a terrifying rage. His tone was grim. âWho are you afraid will misunderstand?â
He glanced at Frank and sneered. âAfraid that he will? Charlotte, donât tell me you really have feelings for him. Donât use him to provoke me.â
I felt like I wanted to laugh. âWhy canât I have feelings for him?â
As I spoke, whether it was due to the alcohol or a rebellious impulse, I grabbed Frankâs collar, stood on tiptoe, and brushed my lips across his cheek.
Even though I was drunk, I could almost hear something violently beating>
I wasnât sure if it was Frankâs or my own.
Nooked back at Ryan. âDo you believe it now?â
His face was dark and stormy. Before he could make a move, Frank forcefully pulled me into his embrace and looked at Ryan.
âCharlotte doesnât handle alcohol well. I apologize, Mr. Frost.â

Chapter 329
Although he was apologizing, his tone carried a hint of insolence.
The suddenly affectionate tone made me pause.
Ryanâs fists clenched tightly, his anger nearly overwhelming. He gritted his teeth and said, âMr. Smith, are you sure you want to steal someone elseâs beloved?â
âSteal?â Frank smirked casually. âShe has the right to choose who she wants. Itâs not up to me to steal. However, Mr. Frost, feel free to use any methods you have, donât go easy on me.â
âRemember what you said today!â
Ryanâs expression was dark and sinister, his smile was cold and chilling. âDonât regret todayâs choices in the future.â
As he finished speaking, his gaze swept over me. Along with a trace of pain, there was a strong, confident
aura.
Then he turned and strode away!
I knew his methods were ruthless and decisive. I didnât want him to involve innocent people.
I wanted to chase after him, but Frank grabbed me by the collar and pulled me into the room.
I felt lightâheaded and unsteady, and when he threw me onto the sofa, the pain in my tailbone made me wince. I said irritably, âWhat are you doing?â
âWhat am I doing?â
Frankâs lips curved into a smile, but his eyes were frosty. His tone was extremely harsh. âWhy did you just chase after him? Are you regretting what you said? Couldnât resist him playing hard to get and canât hold back anymore?â
