Chapter 33
The MS Group was one of the top luxury brands in the clothing industry. It was the company that most designers wanted to go work for.
Jack smiled. âThatâs right. I just got an offer.â
âItâs more like youâve just accepted the offer.â Tom wasnât allowing Jack to lay low. âBefore he came back to the country, the MS Group had been in contact with him. He had only just made up his mind recently.â
Not just Nancy, even I began to admire Jack. I said with a smile, âLooks like the University of Jelaston will soon put you on the front page of the university newspaper, Jack. You made them proud.â
Speaking of the university newspaper, Ryan would be on the front page most of the time. He had long graduated, but s a lot of students still looked up to him.
I felt that maybe he was supposed to be a star in the sky and I shouldnât, have tried to keep him for myself.

âSo youâre deliberately celebrating Jackâs enrollment into the MS Group?
asked Jane.
âThatâs right.â Tom nodded. âLetâs eat. We have other plans after this as well.â
With that said, he then looked at me. âItâs a pity that Ryanâs not here. Otherwise, youâ¦â
I could tell that Tom didnât want Ryan and me to be divorced.
âShut your mouth and eat.â Jane quickly stuffed some meant into Tomâs mouth.
The corner of my lips twitched. âI donât think itâs a pity at all.â
He had someone that he wanted to be with.
Since we were planning on getting divorced, then it would be normal for

both of us to have our own lives.
Yes it would be perfectly normal.
After dinner, we went downstairs. I was probably in a daze, so I missed a step. It was a good thing that a hand grabbed me and prevented me from falling.
Jackâs soft voice sounded after I stabilized myself. âBe careful. Are you hurt?â
âIâm fine.â
âJust sprained my ankle,â I thought.
What I didnât expect was that the sprain was quite serious. Every step I took would make me gasp in pain.
Jack furrowed his brows. âDoes it hurt?â
âItâs alright.â I smiled and walked down the stairs whilst limping.
Seeing Jane and Tom paying the bill, I said helplessly, âIâve sprained my ankle. You guys go on without me. I need to go home.â
âIs it serious? Do you need to go to the hospital?â Jane asked with
concern.
âNo, itâs no big deal.â I passed the car keys to her. âI canât drive now, so Iâm going to have to leave my car with you.â
âHow are you going to get home then? Are you going to get a taxi? Iâll give you a lift home.â
âHow about I give Charlotte a lift?â After saying that, Jack looked at the time and said helplessly, âI have an online meeting tonight, so I probably wonât be able to go with you guys either.â
âThatâs great.â Tom was obviously very happy after hearing those words. He grabbed Jane and left. âIâll leave Charlotte with you then.â
Jane struggled but to no avail. She gestured for me to call her if I

âded anything.
Trodded with a smile. âOkay.â
There were no railings so Jack held my arm and walked me to the car.
He then sald with concern, âI think we should go to the hospital. A
sprain can be serious.â
âHow serious can it be?â I chuckled. âIâll be fine after a nightâs rest.â
âThen wait for me in the car.â
With that said, Jack turned and walked off.
A short while later, he came back with a bag in his hand. He walked around the front of the car and passed the bag to me.
He looked at me and said helplessly, âAt least apply some medicine on your ankle if you donât want to go to the hospital.â
âThank you.â
âWhat did we agree on a couple of days ago?â he interrupted me with a teasing smile on his face.
âOhâ¦â I remembered what he was talking about and let out a sly smile. Well⦠thanks, Jack.â
âYouâre unbelievable.â He shook his head with a helpless smile.
He didnât carry on the conversation and began driving.
It was the evening. The neon lights were shining and cars were roaming the streets, so we could only drive slowly.
Old fashioned music was being played in the car and it hooked up some of my past memories.
âCharlotte, are you feeling sick?â
On the way back, Jackâs soft voice sounded all of a sudden.
I was a little taken aback. âWhat makes you think that?â

âI saw you almost throwing up when we were having dinner.â
