Chapter 259
Chapter 259
Hearing this, I fell silent.
It wasnât until the car was speeding down the dark road again that I turned to Frank,
âHow did you find this place?â
Frank unlocked his phone and tossed it to me. âYour husband sent me the address.â
I glanced at the message from an unknown number.
It might not be Ryan.
Or rather, I didnât dare believe it was Ryan.

Frank seemed to sense my doubt. Casually steering the car, he explained, âThe Shaw family must have promised Zack some benefits to reach an agreement. Bethany only kidnapped you to go after Ryan, so this address would be known only to a few.â
âZackâs men have no connection to you and wouldnât know I knew you. They couldnât have sent me to rescue you.â
âSo, the message must have come from Ryan.â
This was the first time he had been so patient and elaborate with me.
I squeezed my hands together. âGot it, thanks.â
It was the usual pretense.
Sending a message to Frank while Ryan was still shooting at me.
At a redâlight intersection, Frank glanced at me. âWant to go to the hospital?â
I shook my head, âJust take me home.â
I was truly tired.
I didnât want to go through another round at the hospital. Though the injuries looked severe, the hospital would likely just clean and dress them.
I kept such supplies at home.
Remembering that he had asked me to pick up someone, I asked, âI didnât go to pick up your little girlfriend. Did I cause any trouble?â
âGirlfriend?â
Frank frowned as if he could crush a mosquito, glancing at me sideways, âYou should write novels with your imagination.â
I was taken aback for a moment. He then said, âSheâs fine. She has a very good temper.â
felt relieved and decided not to ask any more questions.
After going through this, I felt like I had walked through the gates of hell. Once I settled down, I felt

somewhat detached.

Upon arriving at the Jelaston Summit, Frank carried me out of the car and walked me to the elevator. He lifted his chin slightly. âWhat are you dawdling for? Press the elevator button.â
I came back to my senses. âRight.â
As soon as the elevator doors opened, I saw a tall figure.
âWhat happened?â
Jackâs expression darkened upon seeing my injuries. He reached out to take me from Frank.
But Frank did not let go, calmly saying, âWeâre at the door. Let me take her inside.â
âAlright.â
Considering my injuries, Jack didnât insist and instinctively went to open the door.
He found that his fingerprint still worked for unlocking.
He looked at me in surprise. I smiled. âIn rental properties, the landlord usually keeps a spare key. As a tenant, itâs unreasonable for me to delete your fingerprint.â
Once inside, Frank placed me on the sofa.
I looked at him. âThanks for today.â
Although Bethany caused the trouble, it was not his concern.
He didnât have to help me at all.
Frank said bluntly, âNow you have to treat me to two meals.â
âIâll treat you once I recover,â I said helplessly.
He didnât say anything further and turned to Jack as he cocked his brows. âMr. Renolds, you donât have a habit of taking advantage of others, do you?â
Jack smiled faintly, âIf even Mr. Smith doesnât do that, why would I?â
âThen Iâll leave this to you. I canât handle detailed tasks like treating wounds.â Frank yawned lazily and left.
Jack brought over a medical kit, looking at my injuries with a mix of concern and heart ache. âWhat exactly happened?â
âItâs nothing.â
I hesitated for a moment but didnât dare tell him the full story. I smiled, âLook, Iâm fine now. Really, donât do anything extra for me. I know the Renolds familyâs situation is complicated, and you should take care of yourself first.â
I still vividly remembered how he was beaten with a whip in the ancestral hall because of me.
I couldnât drag him into trouble again.
Seeing the somber look in his eyes, I changed the subject, âSenior, did you come today for something specific?â

âI heard youâre renting an office, and thought you might be interested in some available spaces under the Renolds familyâs name. I wanted to get you to take a look at them and see if youâre satisfied with any.â
Jack explained gently, âBut you didnât answer my calls, so I came to check on you.â
I thanked him first, then said, âThereâs no need for all that trouble. Jane and I have already rented one.â
