Chapter 191
His eyes turned cold instantly, his voice lowering as he warned, âCharlotte, Iâve noticed youâre getting
bolder. Weâre not divorced yet.â
âI know.â I raised my head. âPeople come and go. What can he and I possibly do?â
âCome home with me!â
He remained as domineering as ever, grabbing my hand and preparing to leave.
I
I tried to shake him off, but then he said, âHe and Bethany were summoned by Mrs. Renolds. Do you want to freeze out here?â
His implication was that Jack might not show up for a while.
gave up struggling. After all, I also had something to discuss with Ryan tonight. âLet go, I can walk on my
own.â
He acted as if he hadnât heard me.
And so, I was dragged all the way to the car by him.
Feeling somewhat annoyed, I sent a quick WhatsApp message to Jack, letting him know I was leaving early. Rather than waiting until I got home, I started playing the video and handed my phone over to Ryan.
Ambiguous and provocative sounds immediately filled the car!
The driver, probably thought we were watching something exciting, discreetly raised the partition.
Ryan didnât look at the phone screen but stared at me. âAre you starting to watch this kind of thing now?â
âKeep watching.â
My arms were tired from holding up the phone, so I shoved it into his hands.
As the recorded voices of the stepfather and stepdaughter came through the phone, Ryanâs face turned ice cold!
The words captured were utterly unbearable to hear.
Moreover, the ones saying those words were none other than his father and the woman he loved!
Ryan glanced at me with a chilling gaze, then his fingers began operating on the screen.
âDeleting it wonât help.â
This was something I had anticipated long ago. Otherwise, I wouldnât have dared to hand the phone over to him. âIâve already backed it up.â
After finally obtaining this evidence, I couldnât afford such a basic mistake.
However, apart from coldness, I couldnât discern any other emotions from his face.
He threw the phone aside, his eyes hiding deep secrets. âDelete it yourself. Donât keep such dirty things on your phone.â
I turned to look at him, carefully gauging his feelings. âRyan, arenât you angry?â

âAre you disappointed?â
His eyes turned icy. âCharlotte, Iâm not stupid. I donât need you to throw this kind of evidence in my face.â
I widened my eyes. âCould it be that you knew about it a long time ago?â
âMore or less.â
Ryanâs ambiguous reply left me clicking my tongue. âSo youâre really pitiful and yet youâre so tolerant.â
âWhat am I tolerating?â
âDidnât you see the leading woman in the video? Itâs Jessicaâ¦â
âIâm not blind nor deaf.â He looked at me as if I were an idiot. âAfter my mother passed away, werenât there still those unclear and confusing matters with him? Whether itâs Jessica or some other woman, it makes no difference to me as long as itâs not my mother.â
I was dumbfounded. âBut why are you still still protecting Jessica so muchâ¦â
âFor me, as long as itâs not my mother, it doesnât matter who John is with. This is only a promise I made to Ms. Wood, and besides, I didnât know much more about this matter than you did.â
He glanced at me, his eyes sharp and unflinching. âThat child of hers belongs to John. They almost gave birth to a little brother for.â
I couldnât believe how complicated things were in the upper class.
âComplicatedâ was the only word I could think of.
It seemed like you didnât
he had other plans. He pointed to my phone and said, âDelete the video. Pretend
know.â
I was nearly led astray by him but finally remembered my purpose for tonight. âSure, but letâs go get or divorce certificate first.â
